Me too. I like Rogue One the way it is but I have a feeling that all the extra action was too intense (R rated Star Wars won't be a thing), couldn't be edited properly and was re-shot.

In all honesty "The Force Awakens" was basically a remake of "A New Hope"
One of the many things i love about this movie is the fact that there's no jedi to help them out. This is just pure soldier and ariel fighting. This is a story of people with no special Force advantage and yet they're not afraid to fight for freedom. I think this movie was a good insight for new fans. Star Wars is much bigger than the Jedi vs the Sith. Star Wars is also normal soldiers, people with pasts and families, different personalities and morals, traitors, heroes, kids, politics, cultures and religion.
There were literally two Force users Chirrut and Baze. They were guardians for a temple of the Whills. They were part of the main cast...

There should be a diversity of aliens like ewoks, wookies, jawas, madalorians, twi'lek, sith, etc They all should have equal rights to play as a main character for once or at least have a significant role. I forget where I heard this, but it was to have Vader arriving on the Beach killing all of the main characters; Krennic was supposed to survive in a cave, and after the bomb detonates, you see him walking along the beach like you see in the teaser trailer. Supposedly Donnie Yen was to fight Darth Vader and he was going to get destroyed. They reshot most of the movie and there is a whole other version out there.

In my opinion this is the best Star Wars movie. My dad and I went and saw it opening day and when we walked out we were amazed. We bonded over that movie a lot. So much that we know all the quotes. When my dad gets bored he would turn that movie on. It’s our comfort movie that we watch on a monthly basis. I only found out about a year ago that there are a lot of people that don’t like this movie.

I would even say this: This is the finest Star Wars Movie ever made.
I always felt weird for coming back to these trailers years later, but I realized, it was such an exciting time for the fan base! The hype was palpable and real! I just hope the future brings more of these moments.

Most creative comment ever! I wondered if it was supposed to be an spy/infiltration movie and they turned it into a war movie during reshoots.

I was kind of disappointed that it wasn't a spy/infiltration film.
I thought that Forest Whitaker's character was supposed to be an old war veteran and him and Donnie Yen's character were going to be the ones to train/prepare an elite striker team to infiltrate an imperial base and get the plans. I thought there was going to be a sort of internal struggle in Jen's character on what to do (she would have to choose to do the right thing or not) and at the end they would narrowly make it to beam the plans back to the rebels right before Darth Vader murders them all in cold blood and rage.
I really wish they wen't with that story instead. But Rogue One wasn't all bad, the last act and the scene where the Death Star blots out the sun were all done beautifully.
Dythias Maximus Well, I think an spy infiltration movie, it's not the approach Lucasfilm would've choose to go with for the big masses, since they need to stick with the commercial brand and the other approach would've been considered great for some but boring for most. The end result was epic nevertheless, Lucasfilm made a wise decision, maybe a different take would've ruined it.
My assumption of the trailer when I first saw it was that Jin would go undercover as a storm trooper and her "name" would be Rogue One. And the battle scenes were the empire attacking a rebel base after learning the plans were stolen.
That distress siren is the best thing in cinema.

I like how the CGI is fairly modern but at the same time gives it that classic feel of the original trilogy

Speaking of which...those are new versions of AT-AT for tropic warfare like in that battle scene
so true and for that reason i will go see it.
Because unlike episodes I-III (which was mostly CGI) and episodes IV-VI (which was all practical effects, the originals mind you), this uses a mix of both, with CGI enhanced practical effects.
What I love is the creativity of the idea. It's not like Force Awakens (liked it though) that relied only on nostalgia, but rather it has a decent side story. One that we as fans can totally invest in. After the failure that was the prequels with the back story of the Clone Wars saga (ruling out Episode 3), this seems much better. It sets us up for what happened before Episode 4. I think everyone was always intrigued as to what the Galatic Empire was up to. Also, I would hope Darth Vader is in to help us feel what he was going through back then, how his hate, and the losing of Padme etc affected him. But, regardless the movie is awesome.
Man I hope they release the deleted scenes some day, theres so many cool shots from the trailers that didnt make it in the movie like when they're running at the AT-ATs

Alright, here's the problem a lot of people are having with it. The problem isn't that the protagonist is a woman, in and of itself. The problem is that it feels like we're getting "strong, independent" female protagonists shoved down our throat to meet some sort of diversity quota, and any hope of an interesting plot is being sacrificed for that. It's telling us that the SJW agenda is more important than actually crafting a good story.

My sincere hope is that after the second season of _Andor_ -- which is supposed to lead directly into _Rogue One_ -- they'll do a re-release of this that intensifies all the parts that make _Andor_ so good, and of which we can see glimmers in this teaser (and that were what made _Rogue One_ so great even in the released version).
Crazy that almost none of those scenes are in the movie, still a great film!

The alarm is straight from the original triology, from a scene out of the new hope.
