All good advice. I’ve modded my Jeep JK a lot, but 2 very impactful changes have been 1) putting in the mopar J8 master brake cylinder/ booster and 2) the PSC big bore steering box/cooler/ pump. I notice these every time I drive the Jeep. Big tires really degrade the stock braking and steering (among other things).
Both of those are things I need to do! You’re the second person to mention the Mopar J8 booster. Thanks B Y always appreciate your comments and feedback 🤙🏼
I first put on power stop z36 rotors and pads and noticed some improvement (same size as oem). I also put on high quality braided steel lines. Def better, but still a spongy brake pedal and degraded stop distance versus stock. 2.5 lift with heavy Nitto ridge grapplers 35”. Installed the J8 and brake pedal sponge gone. Stopping distances less. The Jeep is safer. I think I paid $340 for the J8. Was back ordered a long time during the pandemic. Now, I no longer have a big brake kit on my to do list.
@@BY-dq3mt great info, thanks!
One of my favorite is the rear shelf. It really organizes the rear cargo area. You can easily double stack gear for quick access. Plus it adds a little bit of security when the top and doors are off.
👏🏼🤙🏼
My favorite thing I've added (I've had a 2010 JK for a month).... Other than the Rugged Ridge A pillar handles, is a tactical sun visor organizer...$25 on Amazon
Love thee video! you have some great mods, I may have to follow your lead on that DIY fold down table. Thanks for sharing👍
Appreciate it! Thanks for stopping by the channel
Can confirm the GPCA hand grabs are great!
😂 yes, they are davey tested and approved!
Nice reviews and advice and thank you for adding the links.
Appreciate it! Glad to hear 👊🏼
Agree with the tailgate table. My other two underrated mods would be the trasharoo and the 67 designs cellphone mount. Great vid! Wish I'd seen it before I spent the money on fenders!
Thanks for the comment Brenden! 🤙🏼
Just got our first jku. We love these mod ideas. 👍👍
Welcome to the Jeep fam! Thanks for sharing
Thank you I have been looking for a pair of handles
Awesome!
Amazing work on those fenders
Appreciate it!
I agree
For the tailgate table, that will hold whatever weight you build it for, people don't have to use the exact materials shown.
That’s a good looking Jeep
Appreciate it!
Sub’ed. liked the video. 👍🏼
Appreciate it! Thanks Karl
When I watch your video, I thought "Your jeep is so great for offroad".
Jeep is the best toy for adult I think ^_^
There are a lot of mods on jeep.
Have a good weekend!!
You too man! What’s the latest on your Jeep build?
@@4XTRAIL Grill led DIY was last parts.
Finally, the weather is getting warm here, too.
So I changed hardtop roof to softtop today^_^
I'll post that video soon!!
My favorite mod was the idrive throttle controller!!! Love my jeep even more
Nice!
My favorite mod on my wrangler has got to be the Crown Automotive Big brakes up front. A world of difference. Good video!
That’s good to hear! Those are on my list 💪🏼 thanks for watching!
Good idea on trimming the fender flares. Been saving up for $600 Nemesis Crawler Flares and now I may give this a shot. Also good advice on the Helical Diff, I didn't even know that was an option to lockers. Also the one mod on my Jeep that has been the best purchase so far is the Badlands Apex 12K winch.
I do offroad recoveries here in Vegas and this winch has never let me down. I have probably pulled out over 100 people last summer at Lake Meade and not one fail. I bought it for $450 vs the $1500 for the Warn.
That is great to hear because….I bought an Apex 12k for the Gladiator build! Great to hear that it’s holding up well for you. If I ever get out to Vegas area I’ll have to hit you up.
@@4XTRAIL yeah man. I’m always down to go out.
Debating which jeep to buy. New vs used. Rubicon is too expensive and don't offroad but do want to have a good ride on the roads with big tires. Great video.TY
If you’re primarily on-road then you wouldn’t need the rubicon. I would say a newer (2019 +) JL sport with 35 inch all terrain tires would give you a good look while still riding well on road.
Curious what lift you are running, thanks.
I thank Jeeps are the way to go
If there is any alluninum in the diff you do not want to use bronze or brass. Chemistry 101. They will eat one another. Granted they are not in liquid together I still would hesitate using brass. Try to find an alluminum... great video though. I'm going to add that tube to my gladiator today because of video. Thanks for sharing.
Hey man love your set up! What size tires and lift are you running looks perfect!
Hey man, thanks! 37x12.5r17 tires and 3.5” lift. I share more about my setup in this video: ua-cam.com/video/Q6qrSMpdtpI/v-deo.html
I have an air compressor like yours it flips the breaker very often. Any ideas
I’ve been really looking at the idea of adding the nitro gear lsd on my JL, don’t wheel too often(wish i did more) but the cost for adding an eaton is already high per axle plus labor puts me around the mid $4k range including regear for both axles. Sorta like an install and forget it kinda thing.
Been really happy with mine! I think the helical diff in the rear and a locker in the front would be ideal for the harder stuff. So far the helical alone has been enough for my use.
@@4XTRAIL I think for me, being realistic an LSD is enough. I don’t rock crawl, but am planning a trip to colorado etc but even then I think the LSD will be more than enough. As cool as a locker would be Im just having trouble justifying the cost. That and I think with and LSD it’ll still take some finesse sometimes so it’ll keep it fun to get over obstacles too lol
@@gabrieldalcomune3044 totally, you will love having it!
7:18 I need a detail. I have JUK sport, 5.13, gusseted but without a locker.
Love to join you on the trail. I have a 2017 2.5 in lifted wrangler Sahara unlimited, my first jku.
Welcome to the jeep fam!
@@4XTRAIL thank You. I’m in Prescott Valley. Let me know if you do any trails around here flagstaff or payson
Practical mods thx!
Glad to hear Brandon!
Nice.💙💛💚
hey im trying to do upgrades on my 2009 jk, i have 35s on it and needs to be regeared(idk what to regear it to) where should i take it to get regeared? i also have a 2.5" lift, do you reccomend a 4" for more clearance?
Hey, a 2.5” lift should be good for 35s. I ran that combo for a while and liked it. Im assuming you have an auto transmission? As for a regear - is yours a rubicon? If so you may not need to regear. If you do decide to regear I would suggest 4:88s. You can search for a local driveline / differential shop that has good ratings. I would start there!
Hello. I have a jku without lock, and am interested in knowing a bit more about helical diff? can't find anyone here in Norway who sells. the jeep is used for daily driving and pulls a caravan on holiday, can I use a diff for that?
Hello! For sure, a helical diff should be fine for towing and daily driving because it acts just like a normal diff until you start spinning a tire, then it turns into a posi. Mine is made by Nitro Gear and Axle. Have you tried northridge4x4.com? I’m not sure if they ship international but worth a try. My wife and I would love to travel to your country someday - looks so beautiful!
thank you for taking the time to reply. 😃 I'll check if they send.👍 yes, I think you should do that, but most of the roads that are low and drive on are ok with the original 4x4, strict rules for driving in the countryside, but some roads can be fine with a little higher 4x4. you have probably seen (expedition overland nordic) they got a few experiences of what norway has and offers. rent a diesel car if you are making the trip, as it is much cheaper 🙈 take care. ps just finished Shaun's videos and started on yours and the ones he has advertised. keep up the good work you do, it's fun to see everything you show😃
Bro, you forgot to extend the transfer case breathing hose that is the one more annoying to reach, but is crucial.... 3 breather extensions not 2 ...!
Nice! Good idea 👊🏼
What size lift kit you rocking an what brand
Hey! It’s a mix of brands - 3.5” of lift. JKS coils, Teraflex 9550 shocks and Alpine IR control arms. For more info check out the review I did on this vehicle here: ua-cam.com/video/Q6qrSMpdtpI/v-deo.htmlsi=7jXzS0H8WXCflNor
Looks like you’re in AZ. What shop did you go to for the rear diff?
We are in AZ but the shop I used was back in the Midwest when we lived there.
What wheels are you running?
Rocktrix RT111 in a 17x9! Here are my thoughts on them: ua-cam.com/video/35GR2tkY2yQ/v-deo.html
Where's the link for the helical diff?
Hey! I only have links for items on Amazon but I think this is the one I’m running: www.vividracing.com/-p-152411747.html?gclid=CjwKCAjwiJqWBhBdEiwAtESPaG8Hj_zmygSDGp1SGr3Hb3_w6zQdRH4ZYyQjzzVcBrsq08HV7IgO-xoCwD8QAvD_BwE
I put a truetrac (same thing as helo) in front of my JK. Night and day difference
Don't like the stock Rubi rock rails. All those scratches on your doors are because not enough outboard cover. Sticks and rocks hit your doors when you run over them. 4 out of 5 is still pretty good for early mods though. Keep up the changes, and remember what JEEP stands for. "Just Empty Every Pocket!"
Thanks for the comment, Wes. Most of the scratches are from brush. AZ pinstriping is pretty unavoidable out here!
If i took a dremel to my jeep it definitely wouldn’t look like that 😂
Hahaha 😂
What is the front bumper brand ?
Rugged Ridge - it’s their HD stubby winch bumper 🤙🏼
@@4XTRAIL Thank you
What roof rack is that?
It’s the pioneer platform from Rhino Rack with the backbone system 🤙🏼
I wish you can make a template of your fender flares then send it to me.. 😀
Feel free to email me via the “about” tab on the channel and I can send some measurements and photos if you’d like.
What kinda terrain? Walmart parking lot?
Haha, mostly wheel in Moab, northern Arizona and the Ouray / Telluride area of Southwestern Colorado. Where do you like to wheel?
I believe your shocks are backwards.
Hey Romona! Appreciate the concern but they are not. Some shocks for the JK are built to install “upside down” but these are standard and can only be mounted one way due to the design of the JK. 🤙🏼
Fender flares are gonna save your windscreen- 😂 why would you remove that protection? C’mon bruh
5 years in and still on my original windshield 😂
It’d be cool to see overrated mods too
Cool idea 👊🏼
pshhhhhhhhh
