My region banned Steve a while ago and it's only been good things since then :'] most of our Steve players picked a new character and tournament attendance is up. If you're a pro Steve main I can understand not being for it but for like 90% of the people that go to our tournaments it's pretty nice
Though with cheaters you can play as the bosses which are kang and kidos mr burns and smithers itchy and scratchy are playable with cheaters in every mode
Facts. I don't see this said enough. As was said in the video, there isn't even a set stage list for tournaments. The irony between the smash community being mad at Nintendo for not supporting the competitive scene and then turning around and not do anything resembling a competitive fighting game community is frustrating
Yeah, we should just come together, and collectively agree as a community to decide on a nebulous, unclear legality status that varies regionally and just causes more confusion... Wait...
I mean this reminds me of in pokemon when zacian and incineroar were the best offensive and defensive pokemon in the meta and they werent going to be banned even tho it made the meta very strict to what could be played or you had to had to counter them with mons weaker than those two so it was what do you do and i mean zacian got nerfed going into the next game as a result at some point people will have to have a playstyle or character in there roster that isnt even a secondary it is who or how they play against only steve
Well the game isn't ever played in a vacuum, it's implied that the tier lists people make are generally based on what's strong in the current overall game state.
@@drapples9674 That's the thing, results are objective, anyisis aren't, I think Sonic is the best character in the game, while Marss thinks is Aegis and Esam thinks is Steve, and that's just one placement, that's why it doesn't look good, because tierlist aren't something to get a definitive idea of which character is slighty better than other, their purpose is just to get a basic idea of the meta.
In my opinion, Ultimate's niche is the number of characters. Although Steve tech isn't as broken as I thought it would be, in a 90 character roster he takes over too much of the competitive scene.
It's funny how the smash community lost its collective mind when PMLG was discovered, but it has not been applied anywhere since then. Probably because its gimmicky and situational
13:40 i feel like this is all dependent on the next smash game for competitive, if we get another brawl people will play ultimate instead, if we get another melee everybody will drop ult, just like with smash 4, had ult not been so good everybody who doesnt wanna play melee would be doing competitive smash 4 rn, but ult is much better competitively so the community is split between melee and ultimate
i think not going to majors because they have the rule set you disagree with is what you should do. smash players refusal to not attend every tourney they can is the reason theres no unified agreed on rule set, because no matter the rule set ppl will attend also steve still needs to be banned, but hes been unbanned for so long now that thge game is fucked permanently in terms of player passion, people are just waiting for the next smash game or dropping smash entirely steve is alot stronger then the rest of the cast compared to the 2nd best, and hes easy, and hes very boring and annoying, hes bad for the game in every sense
i find sonic way more boring to watch and play against. steve has his game plan playing against steve is like playing a whole side mini game. still a big up hill battle and frustrating to play against but at least more fun to play against than sonic
I think the fact that this conversation has been seriously brought into question five times in the past couple of years should be more than enough evidence on its own. If y'all really didn't want him gone, you wouldn't bring it into question time and time again. Everyone KNEW he would only get worse with time.
Steve ban was a mistake, it made so many regions so much worse against Steve instead of combatting their shitty MU experience and methods against the character. Great job community. P.S. i don't main Steve, far from it, so don't even try that lmao
I think this should be brought up, that in the mid 2023 season, LumiRank had the top 100 ranked. Out of those players four mained Steve, one secondaried Steve, and one had a tertiary main of Steve. Is that fair to those competitors that their character is banned and still weighed the same? 6 players in the top 100 were playing Steve in some capacity.
Steve has truly brought out the second worst, most repulsive parts of this community. Its actually sickening the childish hatred that Steve players regularly receive for playing a character that people dont like.
Regarding how tournaments are weighed, why does anyone even really care? Their rankings do not affect anything besides their seeding, and that's it. The best players are still going to be making it to the top of the brackets anyway. Don't like who you are playing in the bracket? Suck it up. The rest of the scrubs down here don't get that kind of luxury. If a character wins against 80 percent of the cast, makes watching and playing the game boring, and affects how players are ranked to the point where they have to complain about it, I don't see any viable argument on why this character should not be banned. It would be better for all parties except people who are using Steve as a crutch to get wins and pad their stock. This is Bayonetta all over again.
Uploaded right on ultimate's 5th birthday
This is the most random supercut ever, but I'm still pogging
Cringe
i just think having the minecraft guy be the best character in the game is incredibly funny

Basically ned Flanders can take as long as 1 hour if by luck 4 revies a round so ned loses after the 12th pin
Though with cheaters you can play as the bosses which are kang and kidos mr burns and smithers itchy and scratchy are playable with cheaters in every mode
Fun casual scene
All this effort, yet no shimmy tier list
The community's failure to decide on unanimously banning or not banning Steve is a reflection of the community as a whole

The irony between the smash community being mad at Nintendo for not supporting the competitive scene and then turning around and not do anything resembling a competitive fighting game community is frustrating
think it just comes down to people who see that steve is actually broken vs people who use him as a crutch wanting him to stay unbanned.
Yeah, we should just come together, and collectively agree as a community to decide on a nebulous, unclear legality status that varies regionally and just causes more confusion... Wait...
I'm getting flashbacks to the last year of smash 4... oh god...

seems more like a meta played list than an actual objective tier list
Well the game isn't ever played in a vacuum, it's implied that the tier lists people make are generally based on what's strong in the current overall game state.
Tierlist can't be objective, the official tierlist was just an average of different opinions.
@@axr1798 they can be based on objective analysis, instead of what is most seen in tourney.
@@Alaspooryorick98 this list says more about the characters top players are playing instead of who is actually good.

By this logic Rob shoulda been banned years ago
completely unrelated but I got an ad on this video of Hbox advertising something called a motocompacto
The timing for this feels appropriate iykyk

Loving this flashback, but remember.
Some people still have meta knight ban defeatism in their subconcious
I find tournaments minus Steve to be far more watchable, but no hate to the players
First, it was Meta Knight in Brawl.
Then it was Bayonetta in Smash 4.
Now it’s the funny block man in Ultimate.
History really does repeat itself.
Next Smash game will be Waluigi. Mark my words.

Almost 2024 and steve is still fucked up
Hmmmm

I personally think the part of the community that wants to have sexy time with children is far worse tbh
Nah that one time with nairo was worse
@@GenophefeElisabeth oh I forgot about that (I wish I still did)
the most repulsive part of the community IS the steve players.
It should be no surprise lol the Smash community are babies that have not grown up. Not only that they're weirdos 😂
