Last time I was in England, we had a nice day out around Hawskhead. Visited the Relish Company, saw Wray Castle, and had a meal at the Drunken Duck. Unfortunately we didn't make it up Latterbarrow - mind you it was absolutely pouring down. Next time!

Such a good idea . The combination waterproof socks , and well draining wide shoes, I was thinking about the ARC while watching ..dry feet far less chance of hypothermia . I Live a couple of miles from finish hope to get out in my little camper and support runners , coffee etc

Totally agree. Not far from me are the Bathgate Hills. On a clear winters day you can see mountains to the north of Stirling round to the Firth of Forth and Bass Rock and right across to Goat Fell on Arran (if you're lucky!).

Nice video mate, Hawkshead is a lovely little place. Like you say stark contrast to the spring/summer we stayed there last year and had to book a table in the pub each night! The honeypot is a great shop for butties but also great for their pies! 🥧

Met you up Gummers Howe in Nov 22 , first walk 5 months after breaking collarbone ! Think my nicknames lucky as I went Hawkshead last May and booked 3 nights. I went up loughrigg with mate day before ,then made my way to Hotel . Felt bit rough next day which was so hot and clear and sunny . I made my way up Wetherlam then had to come down as still feeling rough . Got bus back to Hawkshead and crashed in bed at 3pm while everyone was out in the village pubs enjoying the sunshine . Next day went home and discovered I had Covid ! Luckily as rough as I was , I was ok a few days later . Love Hawkshead , so many places you can get to. Gateway to Tarn Howes and Coniston Fells .

Glen we love hawkshead but it’s better to go in the spring as it’s very much a place that exists because of tourists. Anyway Ive been going there for 40 years it’s always been dog friendly and it annoys me that so many places aren’t as they always used to be.
So to anyone who fancy’s going there please go in spring and summer, the pubs are fabulous but the ice cream shop is just the best and…… they do ice cream for dogs….. yep ice cress as m for dogs. Give it a try it’s my favorite place alongside grasmere stunningly beautiful quintessential Lake District but never to busy. Glen love your videos but the night hike needs some work. Maybe a night hike from or to an overnight camp. Just a thought.

Lovely to see you back out Glenn. Looking forward to seeing you out on the high fells again in the next few weeks, but as you say, you haven’t missed too much with lack of winter conditions and rain. Also, I enjoyed the night hike vid, I think it’ll inspire people to try it and see what beauty the night hikes have in store. I believe the quality of your content gives you plenty of credit in reserve to try the experimental videos too so I hope it didn’t affect you too much with people saying “what’s the point?” I think it would be cool if you done a Q&A video to allow people to get to know more about you too, the little snippets you drop into videos it’s clear you’re such an interesting guy with lots of knowledge and wisdom to share. Keep up the amazing work!

    Hi Glenn,
Yet another fantastic video and thank you for sharing.
I can fully understand your frustration when it comes to a lack of mobility.
Back in October 2022, I suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm, thankfully I was one of the very few who survived with little or no symptoms, except for terrible double vision which has thankfully rectified itself.
My neurosurgeon said that it was my fitness that assisted in my recovery.
Now back to your videos. Back in the dark days when I was recovering and unsure whether I’d ever make it back onto the fells, I found you on UA-cam.
You were my inspiration to make it back onto the fells and to enjoy a beer!
Thankfully, I’m doing both. I’m fully recovered, cycling like a demon once more and enjoying the fells and a beer. 😉🍺🍺
If ever I see you when I’m next in the Lakes, then you’ll drink beer for free all night. 🍺🍺
    Thanks again and stay safe.

Great Video, we always make a stop at Hawkshead, grab some chutneys and maybe an iced cream etc. It does seems to have 'gone down hill' a bit in recent times though IMO. whether it be shops shutting or pubs shutdown (kings head) The Red lion has been open once when we have been and usually only The Queens arms open but usually packed. Funnily enough we went to the Nepalese market as well in the city hall, ended up getting a robust, warm, heavy wooly jumper haha. we always get a meal deal and go and sit right up on the top bench at te top of the grave yard. we are yet to do Latterbarrow though, so we will get that on the to do list. With a 2 month old, our lakeland adventures have had to wait, for a few more months at least anyway, your vids are my lakeland fix for now hahaha looking forward to the next one.
