Although I’ve been watching your videos for a while, I’ve been bingeing them for the past week following the sudden and painful loss of a beloved pet on Christmas Eve. I love how you’ve remained true to the spirit of hiking videos, focusing on the beauty and spectacle of nature, and the love of simply being outdoors. It’s wonderfully gentle viewing and has really been helping me cope. Thank you.

My wife and I might be getting on a bit now, but we're still out there enjoying the fells and have done many of your routes. While watching this video, my wife turned to me and said, 'There’s no way we’re doing that-I’m sweating just watching it!' And what you said about the Lakes-we couldn’t agree more. We’ve been lucky enough to travel abroad, but there’s nothing like the Lakes. It truly gets to you, and in our opinion, it's the best place on the planet! Brilliant video as always; keep up the fantastic work! 👍

Been following your channel for ages but this video shows exactly why. Thank you for not being like all of the other creators on UA-cam who say that sharp, striding and swirral edges are “easy” if you’re careful but instead, showing people what it is actually like!
Not that I’ve ever done Sharp edge as I’m not ready yet but this was so helpful. Great video as always at one of my favourite places in the Lakes ❤

I live in the Lakes and walk the fells quite often. I've now started walking the hills in Scotland. Last week we did Cairngorm via the corries. I wish I could film and talk like you can. Don't be put off by age, I'm 66 and fitter now than I have been for a while, just with walking.
The POV vids are great, keep it up as it's an inspiration to get out on the hills.
I wear Altra's Olympus 5's and the low and mid Gore-Tex boots. Excellent grip and the zero drop really did stop my knee and hip pain.

It’s a while since I did Sharp Edge, probably over 25 years now, but when I did I didn’t give it a second thought and just got on with it without too much alarm. Watching the video really did bring it home how potentially dangerous it can be and seemingly more exposed and vulnerable than I can recall. That said I wondered if the camera lens and closeness to the rock had the effect of intensifying the steepness and terror of the edge? Only way to find out would be to revisit which now 25 years older and wiser I’m not going to do.

Loved that one! Done the exact same route a few times. The climb up from the end of Sharp edge is harder than the ridge itself. The descent down "knee wrecker ridge" aka Halls fell is great for the views but my poor knees tend to suffer. Yes that last bad step on the final path is wayyyy more difficult than it should be. Finally, when you went through St Johns in the vale I guessed "The Travellers"! Just a great way to spend a Sunday evening, many thanks!

I did wonder on the older videos why you were making so much more work for yourself. The drone shots and everything looked great cos you've a really good eye, but I think you did right to change style. The pov vlogs allow much more for your personality to come across. I appreciate that your shoes were not maybe giving that much confidence, but after the 'bad step' on Sharp Edge, it really is easier attacking the last part of the ridge direct. Maybe a little iffy at the start but using the old three points of contact, it gives a fairy easy route to the top of the edge. Other than that a great video and despite what you thought about lots of rocks, it was a very refreshing approach to your video, may be the only way to film it. Well done!!

Did this in late July with my 10yr old granddaughter, we made the ascent by Halls Fell ridge then because the weather was so perfect we (she) decided to go down by Sharp Edge, have to say she was fine with it, I wasn't as I was worried about her the whole way down.
I was just wearing some Merrell moab boots and she was wearing some Berghaus kids boots but it was bone dry and we wouldn't have done it if it wasn't. Stopped and dipped our feet in the tarn on the way back while eating lunch before making our way back to Threlkeld. Great walk and a great video.

The worst thing about any of your videos is the thought I have work on Monday morning. However, I wasn’t prepared for this video which for someone who is terrified of heights was akin to watching Vin Diesel in Skyscraper. Wow! That was some scramble. Watching you I. Knew you would be OK (otherwise how was the video published) but I was very worried we might all end up in over the edge and in the water. “Just a straightforward path now”! Hah! Hi, Sharp Edge and the final climb up to Ackinson Pike is great fun. I've been hiking the fells for about 50 years and only got round to doing Blencathra this summer (2024) no idea why it took so long, maybe as you said its not really a day out, and when I did it, I lost my action camera so could not upload any footage except for my drone footage. Anyway great video and reminded me of a great fun climb 😁

I wear la sportiva tx 4 for that kind of walk. The vibram soles with the donut shaped lugs are very sticky imo and have not let me down. I have not tried the tx5 that you are wearing but I am surprised that you suffered from a lack of grip using them as I would have expected the soles to be similar to my tx4’s. There’s plenty of people who scramble on UA-cam extolling the virtues of the tx4 who use them for much more extreme scrambling than sharp edge.

I did striding and swirrel with my son today, I also took my dogs with me, probably not the best idea. I must give this one a go. It looks like an adrenaline maker. We are so lucky having such a great playground on our doorstep! Thanks for sharing 👍💪

Interesting stuff. Never got to see most of that. Only been up Blencathra once. It was a morning outing before a mountaineer's funeral. Up the West end, Blease Fell, in fog so thick I couldn't see my feet. I kept my left foot feeling the grass and my right foot feeling the stones and by that method I managed to follow the left (North) edge of the path all the way to the top. I was tempted by Hall's Fell but in those conditions I opted for going round the back instead. Do the ridges another time hopefully.

Reminded me when I did sharps edge a month or two ago, the camera shows everything really well 🙌. My first ridge too and won't be my last, it was very enjoyable, the wall as call it after the ridge I found more scary 😬.

This is exactly what happened to me when we went up Easy Gully on Pavey Ark. My boots gave me zero confidence and I was slipping and sliding everywhere on the tops too. I put them in the bin as soon as I got back to the car park 😂

WOW!! Pretty sketchy hike. The ridge looked dangerous. I'm glad you made okay. Some great video in hike. Well done!
