Wanted to add to this, one of my keys was lost, so after I entered my pin code and started adaptation, I lowered my key count to one, saved it, closed out, and then restarted the process of adding a second key. Working great now. Thank you.

Hi! I just bought a new dashboard for an Audi A3 8l, and I was wondering if it's possible to change a chip or something between the old and new dashboards so the new dashboard recognizes my old keys.
One of our distributors sells a tool that can retrieve PIN on some clusters, AE Tools. But it isn't cheap, you are better off finding a local locksmith who can perform the service for you. There are a lot of crap tools that claim to be able to pull PINs, but we get phone calls and emails all the time from people using these crap tools that get wrong PINs or worse, bricked modules.

i was just in this problem. all i did was turn my key to the on position till the emoblizer symbol went away.. once its gone ur good to go. takes about 10m
HELP!! i replaced the entire ignition portion in my 2008 vw jetta 2.5 it came with a valet looking key my original key+fob will go into the ignition but obviously no longer work the fob works to lock and unlock still. the new key will turn the car on and off and will turn the motor over but then it dies after a second and the dash displays "safe" what do i need to do? i am a long way from any kind of dealer and dont have a lot to spend. i really need my car any help at all greatly appreciated!!

What are you guys talking about? The audis and VW uses 48 glass chips before 05 and 48 can after 05. Once the chip is programmed it can't be used on other car because it locked now. It can be earesed and programmed again only to the vehicle it locked to. So to program it to another car it needs to be unlocked first which is usually more difficult the buy a brend new blank key.

OK, you say a PIN must be used. How do I know my car's PIN? I still have the plastic bar that came with the spare and valet keys when the car was new. The plastic bar thing encloses a strip with all the key ID numbering and I was wondering iif the PIN is on that bar? BTW, it's a 2004 Audi S4.
For a brief time around 2001, some VW and Audi vehicles had the PIN info on the black plastic key tag. From that very limited event, it has morphed into the false story that all those black plastic key tags have the PIN on them to this day. As I recall, VW and Audi stopped doing it about a year after they started it... but the rumors live on. We still suggest to contact an automotive locksmith to get the PIN. The dealers do not have direct access to that information.
if I use the key that works to start it start it... now listen. take that key out of the ignition and insert the new key, and start it within 5 to 10 seconds immediately. The car will start and stay running but the immobilizer light will stay blinking and I can actually drive anywhere, just first thought was can this damage my ignition system or stall out while driving?? Not on mine it's got the code on another device saved but can be simply deactivated in a hidden spot. Why they installed a pull away chip.. known as a smart key.. Haven't seen these for years but some junk yards you see them a lot on other vw's which they had snaped it in half so you can't pull it out etc.. Was wondering if they had other crap installed by chance like a breaholizer machine and just upon removal left the other wiring and installed a chip??? Thanks. Mr. Ross Tech, I followed this procedure because I bought a previously used key with an IMMO2 chip inside of it and wanted to match it to my car. After rematching my own keys (x2) when it came to this "new" key the yellow light kept blinking and VCDS showed me "ERROR" on the screen. Do you know what migh be causing this? Thanks.

You mean the pill might be bad, is that it? If so, could you provide me the correct specs for my car? It's a ROW VW Passat 98 AEB. These t48 pills sold as "new" would do the trick? Thanks!
RossTech works great and we use multiple licenses of this product at our shop. My only wish is was that it could extract the key PIN codes as a complete package. Other tools are necessary to do that. But I assume that RossTech is not doing this because of legal issues.

Gurmehar Ranu In the US market, the mk3 didn't have immobilizer. This video shows for a system where the immobilizer is integrated into the instrument cluster, address 17. In some markets outside of the US, if a mk3 has an immobilizer, it will be a stand alone system, address 25. We have some info on this on our Ross Tech Wiki site.

Ross Tech does not support the Nissan product line and none of us at Ross Tech own anything from Nissan. I would suggest finding a Nissan web forum and asking there. Also note that your keyboard is defective and should be replaced.

Without seeing the car first hand, we have no way of knowing for sure that the real issue is. Have you tried a battery jesus? This is where you remove the battery cables and touch them together for 10 seconds. That might help. You could have a bad key as well... but without further diagnosis, we can only wildly guess.
I need help, I do the procedure I go to 17-instruments, I am able to log in with pin number, go to adaptacion read channel 21, the stored value shows 1 but when I click Up to set new value number 2 in test value field I get error and I'm not able to add a second key to immobilizer, Does anyone have and Idea of why this is happening?
@@KolokoLOVE yes I figured it out in my specific case the fuse to the comfort module was open I replaced the fuse and then I was able to program keys my model was a 2002 jetta and the fuse it's in different place than the diagrams points to
13861 is enabling adaptation like setting mileage for NEW instrument cluster etc. But immo/key adaptation enabling need its own PIN and every car has different PIN for that.
Without seeing the car first hand, it is hard to say what the issue is. Maybe the keys are bad. Maybe the reader coil for the Immobilizer is bad. Maybe the Immobilizer itself it bad. Maybe it is something else, no way to know without diagnosing the issue.
Can some one help just did heater core and had to take dashboard out and do the job put it back together and all of a sudden the immobilization is activated it's 02 vw jetta vr6 whts up with that it ran when it came in fine but now it's activated had battery disconnected for almost week an a half please help do I have reprogram system, key....

+Zeightar Downlaod vag eeprom programmer. Using a generic blue vcds lite cable go into vcds lite hit options and change the cable to kwp2000 protocol and save. Then using eeprom select cluster and then read. The pin is labelled under login with other cluster info. When you enter the pin in vcds add a zero to the front. 01234
A key left in the door that used to work will no longer start the car after adapting the other keys. But can I readapt the key which used to work? Or it depends if it has transponder for Immo 2 (readaptable) or transponder for immo3 (not adaptable)? thanks

For anyone looking to retrieve the PIN, there is a tool called VAG KEY which is able to do it.
I checked the vag scan and i asks for a 5 digit pin or a 7 digit PIN / SKC where can I find any of them?

If all that is left is the metal blade (sidewinder), then it would appear you need a complete new key and have it adapted to the car.

um, I programed the key to unlock etc. and got the key cut at dealer but I only am looking to program the key to start the vehicle. For spare key.

VitorBart My guess would be that used key is no good. I have personally matched up used Immob 2 keys to different cars without issue.

@@KolokoLOVE yes I figured it out in my specific case the fuse to the comfort module was open I replaced the fuse and then I was able to program keys my model was a 2002 jetta and the fuse it's in different place than the diagrams points to

So the screen says 13861 and you put in a different pin so what is the point of the 13861?
13861 is enabling adaptation like setting mileage for NEW instrument cluster etc. But immo/key adaptation enabling need its own
PIN and every car has different PIN for that.

@@mingiasi Like mk4 golf, B5 passat, B5, B6 Audi A4 etc. you can find it from instrument cluster with right OBD equipment.

Without seeing the car first hand, it is hard to say what the issue is. Maybe the keys are bad. Maybe the reader coil for the Immobilizer is bad. Maybe the Immobilizer itself it bad. Maybe it is something else, no way to know without diagnosing the issue.

+Zeightar Downlaod vag eeprom programmer. Using a generic blue vcds lite cable go into vcds lite hit options and change the cable to kwp2000 protocol and save. Then using eeprom select cluster and then read. The pin is labelled under login with other cluster info. When you enter the pin in vcds add a zero to the front. 01234

A key left in the door that used to work will no longer start the car after adapting the other keys. But can I readapt the key which used to work? Or it depends if it has transponder for Immo 2 (readaptable) or transponder for immo3 (not adaptable)? thanks

Hello, I tried moving the parts from my old VW golf 5 key to a new case, unfortunately I broke the immobilizer, what is to be done now ? Good thing is that i still have a key

Buy a new transponder ! But depending from the year of your VW Golf, you may need to ask a locksmith to prepare it.
Probably ID48 TP23 chip.
