Fished saltwater for over 50 years but only just starting murray fishing. Some great advice and never too old to learn new stuff, great video and advice
Everything about your recent videos had gone to another level. The sound, the video quality, even the editing is just classy now (less is more, letting the content speak for it self). Just loving it!
Honestly guys, if you're worried so much about losing lures, get yourself a decent length Telescopic lure retriever for land based fishing or a TackleBack for boat fishing, even better, get both. Good lures are expensive as hell and I've been keeping track of the ones I've had to rescue the last few years with the tele retriever when other conventional methods didn't work. Within the last 4 years, and counting rescuing the same lures a few times, the $50 13 foot retriever has saved around $500 worth of lures, great investment.
Hey Robbie I would have added “Bigger is better” in regards to lure size. Especially when casting tight against structure I find cod are more likely to make the effort to hit a bigger lure than a smaller one
Thanks Robbie! I love your videos you're so passionate about it and I always get the feeling you're genuinely trying to help everyone, I'm only new to fishing mate and have only really targeted yellow belly with my biggest being a 615mm at windamere! Keen to get into cod come December/open season! Thanks mate!!
Good advice, same tips apply for many fish. It's the same for bass up here. Rule number four have fun, enjoy being in nature and don't be upset if you get nothing it's great just being out there
Could you do a tackle and gear review eg rods reels leaders not so much lures specifically but a quick type of lure would be appreciated and yeah mostly main line, leader, rod and reels Really enjoyed the video I know it's a bit old but I love watching many of your videos very informative but also very action packed thanks
Hey Robbie, love the cod vids, I was wondering if you have filmed a video on how you set up your baitcaster for cod fishing, mainly wondering if you run a leader, and the knot you use, if you run a swivel clip, or just a clip to change lures easily. I’ve only recently started running a leader as I’ve always thought the best thing about braid is the 0 stretch, and if you run a leader it sort of takes that away from it, and the knot to connect it, I tried the fg, but it’s so complicated I can never be bother trying to do it in the field. Thanks mate 🤙
pseudechis Thanks heaps mate. My next video has an awesome little tiger snake in it. I found him basking on the rocks on the edge If a stream yesterday.
Never caught a Murray cod seems to me just use my decades of bass fishing and gut instinct for catching big bass in shallow water(2m or less) and I'll do alright & find someone whose got a spot or 2 even if they only go every 2nd year
Vincent Donnelly Thanks so much Vincent. I actually started writing a book once. I got 39,000 words on and then crashed my old computer and lost it all.
Great video with awesome info. Can’t wait till I get up that way and try and catch one. Keep up the great work mate. It’s awesome you post so often! Hope you don’t get worn out
edstar81 Thanks so much Ed. My next video will be a trout video. I love it mate, love fishing and love filming. It's wonderful people like yourself that keep me going buddy, so thank YOU.
I love these videos as I’m still trying to get my first Murray cod I find it is tricky to get right up into the snag. What 3 lures are the best for cod keep the awesome vids up.
Murray cod are about the easiest fish on the planet to catch when they are biting, IF u just want to catch one forget all this crap about lures blah blah blah. Just a simple bait rod set up and bardy grubs will out-fish lures every single time if u can't afford or find grubs cheese works just as well. In the big, deeper rivers like the Murray and Edwards middle of the day is prime time, set-lines work great overnight but are no longer legal.
I do the best I can to keep up but I receive a lot of comments each day and it is easy to miss some. If you wish to follow me on Patreon you will always get replies. www.patreon.com/robbiefishing

Hi Robbie, I have a question to ask u.
Is it legal to take Murray cod home and eat it?
Thanks,james
谢同广 I’m not Robbie but within certain times of the year and if they are within a certain size then you can eat them yes
What size reel is that
do you really have to have a baitcaster rod because i would rather just use a normal spinning rod
Great vid!
