ICOM IC-7200 small HOA antenna contact to Slovenia

In this video watch my contact to Slovenia from Maine on small 51ft long EF antenna at 15ft with 9:1 balun, 75W SSB using solar batteries. Z-11Pro II Tuner, made in Japan HM-36 mic. Contact with S51DX from N1UHF.

Icom 7200. My favorite transceiver. Non SDR which really pleases me. Non touch-screen also makes me happy. Proper desk-top size too. Keeping mine forever.

One of my favorite of all time HF radios, and for all the reasons you mention. Overbuilt internals and military looking make it very desirable also for those who like the style.

Sounds like in-shack or in-house RFI noise. LED lighting or the solar charge controller?

Hi… you’re close, it’s my neighbors outside Christmas LED colored lights… they’re only about 20ft from my antenna… I totally forgot about the problem until you mentioned inside house and LEDs, this is only the 2nd Christmas they’ve been here. Last year when those lights were on it wreaked havoc with 20m and probably more bands. I’m usually busy this time of year and don’t get on HF much, and they’ll be taking them down in Jan …
Luckily my solar charge controllers don’t affect any of my radio bands and they’re charging everyday.
