Awesome to see a fellow 7200 owner out /P. The 7200 Rx is indeed great and you'll find once you get used to using the twin PBT and set your filters how you like them you can tweak even the worst QRM out in the blink of an eye. My tip for filter widths would be Wide 3/2.9k, Med 2.6k, & Narrow 2.3k. also try out the manual notch filter, it works really well! 73 Tom, G2NV

The 7200 is a great rig, great for datamodes too. It's been a tank for the RTTY contests ive been on, 100w all the time.
Upgraded to the 7300, but if a 7200 came up cheap, i wouldn't say no.

Try using the Manual Notch Filter, the knob on the lower right-side of the face.

The only thing missing from my perspective is the Backlight on the Buttons, but a lot of radios come without witch I don't understand either.

7:46 you're telling the guy he's a 5/1 when he's booming in 5/9 loud and super legible lol ... you should hear the contacts I've persisted with when you can only hear every other 5 words whilst people are truly in the noise. Persist, persist, persist! I got in this hobby to hear weak signals and sweat for a contact. Unless a person is hearing impaired, there should be zero tolerance for someone saying "I'll let you go" because of some QSB. Heavy QRM is the reasonable exception. And mate, that station was loud and clear. Great channel though, excellent video quality and great adventures. Keep on keeping on!

Nice radio l can’t believe Icom have discontinued this radio l wonder why.... Maybe they might update this model .... l use a 20Ah lithium golf cart battery, very compact and a bit more rugged than lipo cells. Must try and get out there and do a bit of Sotadogging... though l am abit of a seagull.

I also use an Icom IC-7200 both at home and portable. I like the analog knobs and buttons very much. FRONT pointing speaker! A little heavy for man-portable. I use a LiFePO4 12Ah battery. In car, TRX on dashboard and batt on floor. 12 meter Spiderbeam telescope pole and endfed halfwave ant for 20m hung vertically. Also works without car. I also have a Yaesu FT-891, but the menue is so complex, that by the time I have made adjustments, I have lost the contact. Also, need audio interface for digital modes (lots of cable salad). Another great thing about the IC-7200: built-in soundcard. Only one USB cable to control rig and audio TX and RX. I have been using a headless Raspberry Pi 4b and an old Andoid tablet to run FLRIG, FLDIGI, JS8CALL and other digital programs. I didn't buy the handles. Too expensive for what they do. I did buy a cheaper carrying handle. Makes handling and carrying the rig a little easier. Wasn't too darn expensive. All-in-all, I think a solid radio for both beginners and advanced operators. Oh, I forgot to mention, it draws about +-1A in RX. My batt can handle that for a couple of hours of operating. Lots of fun! Vy 73 de David DM3BC and SV0SGS

Thank you for this video, Carl! ... I do not like those Yaesu radios, because of the horrorable menue structures and the mostly poor audio sound of the transmitted signal of the cheaper Yaesu radios, I'm glad that you have moved a class higher, to ICOM radios ;)

@goinghomesomeday1 That is incredible! Around here there is barely any reason to buy a used transceiver over a new one as the used ones are almost the same price. I often wonder why a 20 year old transceiver is being sold for nearly the same price of a newer one. How have you found such incredible bargains?
