    I have a 9th gen 2012 civic ex-l that ive put 50k on in the past 8 months... over those 8 months it has slowly degraded to something that i have to fight with the steering wheel the entire time, so far i put on 17in avid1 av20s, BFGoodrich G-Force Comp-2 A/S Plus 225/45R17, front LCAs with new ball joints, tie rod ends, rear uppers and i did a valve adjustment...
    but yesterday i ordered skunk2 sport shocks with eibach sportlines, a fulll set of powerstop crossdrilled and slotted rotors with carbon ceramic pads and the caliper upgrade, new front steering knuckles with new wheel bearings and hubs, and new rear wheel bearings/hubs and honestly i cant wait to not have to second guess every steering input, or be on the ready for the next time my car tries to shoot me off the side of the road over a bump on the highway at 70+ mph so im happy theres at least one reveiw out there on those sportlines, becuase i was lookiing h&rs and skunk 2 lowering springs as well and decided on the sportlines becuase i think theyll be the most comfortable ride

      Just a follow up, the sportlines for my car advertised 1.7 front and 1.2 rear drop and i got about 2 and 1/4 front and a 2 inch drop in the rear out of mine... I do rarely scrap the fender liner in the front for like .5 of a second on only the worst of the worst bumps and my car looks slammed but it handles like stock and it doesnt feel like its lowered while driving if that makes sense... it rides exactly like the car did when it was bone stock before it degraded and sitting in the car it feels like its stock ride height becuase the suspension isnt stiff as nails so it doesnt feel like its skipping bumps... Stability is perfect, its comfortable and the 3 people ive taken for a ride said that the car feels good and its not annoying like some setups. i could use a rear sway bar and front strut tower bar for the sharpest of corners but for a grocery getter and an A to B car its more than i had imagined id get out of it...
      i think for me from this point on no more coilovers just lowering shocks and springs is the way to go.

      Did you have to buy a camber kit?

      @@AlejandroPinto07 if i had gotten what was advertise which was 1.7 front 1.2 rear instead of 2 inch plus front and rear i dont think i would have needed it, but yeah my rear tires cambered about 2-3 degrees inward as it settled so i actually still need the camber kit as i havent bought it yet

    8:55 why cut the fender instead of rolling it?

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus  Рік тому +2

      We tried rolling it first, but the material was too thick on the inner lip of the fender, so the angle grinder had to come out.

    If I get the eibach pro, would I need cambers on the rear?

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus  2 роки тому +1

      You don't need the rear arms. You're not dropping enough to require it but if you want the adjustment, you can get it. My name is Nick and I own he Black FRS. I'm lowered by about 2" all around right now with KW V3. I didn't need the rear LCA but my factory end links were stripped into LCA which I ended up replace the whole thing because it was easier to deal with. I have no plans to get more negative camber or bring back some positive camber. I'm running everything on a natural camber on the rear right now.

    So the pro kit would be a step up from the sportlines? I have a 21 civic hatch touring, I just want to make sure I dont downgrade suspension in trade for the drop.

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus  2 місяці тому

      the sportline are the more aggressive drop, and when lowering the vehicle with springs alone, the ride gets firmer. Feel free to text us 213-433-3616 or email support@shocksurplus.com and we can dive into specifics and make sure you have the info you need to make a good decision.

    So you would prefer eibach over H&R ?

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus  Рік тому

      I would not say that as the H&R is a darn good spring, the Eibachs just do a little more drop. There is definitely nothing wrong with the H&Rs though.

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus  Рік тому

      No, the Eibach Sport Line springs do a little more at 1.4" front and 1.2" rear on these 10th Gen Hatches compared to tha 1.25" and 1" of the H&R

    Would you say that the milder Pro Kit (I believe 1" drop once settled) would have less of an impact on stock suspension?

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus  Рік тому +1

      Most definitely. The more modest drop will leave you with more bump travel for a little better ride all around. They do not offer as much of a boost to handling as the Sportlines do but they should still have it cornering a little sharper.

    Which coilovers would you recommend for the 10th gen? I have an lx and just want a nice look to it. What else would I need to buy w the coilovers also to improve the setup? I’m looking into buying coilovers to lower my car but don’t really know much about it. Thanks in advance 😊

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus  2 роки тому +1

      It depends on what you want to do. My name is Nick and I own a 2014 Scion FRS. I was previously on Fortune Auto 500 which I enjoyed but they were definitely a bit too much for street driving here in Los Angeles. They handled really well in the canyons. I'm now currently on KW V3 which I'm still fine tuning but so far it's much more comfortable than my previous set up. The fine tuning I'm doing is the compression and rebound. I've made two adjustment from the factory setting on just the rebound and almost found the sweet spot. Once this is done, I'll mess with the compression but I feel like I don't need to do much there. Note going with coilover will make the ride feel more firm. lowering springs would be more comfortable than the last option is going air bag which in somewhere between the two.
