    If the machine work is good. And the builder did a proper job. Break in is quick.
    Fill with AMSOIL break in oil.
    All the motors I've built. No igintion cranking for 15 second to build oil pressure.
    As sort as possible idle time once started to bleed the cooling system and PS and such.
    Oil change. New filter. Cut open the filter and check it. This one is mostly to flush out assembly lube and anything in the motor.
    New oil in. Amsoil break in. Car rolls out of the shop and its 25 to 30 mins on the street. No boost to just transitioning into boost. To set the rings in. Rings will not properly seat unless there is load. Idle isnt enough.
    Back in the shop. Oil change. Amsoil break in again. New filter. Cut the filter open. Check.
    100 to 150kms. 60 to 100 miles. Maybe more if time allows. Of waste gate boost. 10-12psi. Kind of area.
    Oil change. New filter. Check the filter.
    Fill with synthetic. I run amsoil 20w-50. Full send. Either that's on the dyno or on the street. Never had an issue. Focus RS, evos, EcoBoosts all the same. Never built a subie motor yet. I'm also super picky with my clearances and cleanliness. My machinist is the same way. I always double check his work and have yet to take something back.
    Quality parts, proper clearances and good techniques result in good results that last.
    If your motor was plateau honed there is no need for the old school thought of 1000s of kms of break in time.
    Dragsters get rebuilt between runs. Nascar motors get built and its wide open right away. You don't see them driving around all light footed for hours breaking in motors.

      Yes, cylinder pressure is key! Glaze the cylinder walls, and that's it! You'll be wondering why she burns oil.

    Full break in. Change the oil 100 then 500 then 1000 miles. Checking compression at 1000 miles. Then full send.

      @ChrisDoesCars  3 роки тому +2

      I'd say that's reasonable. I'll probably play it safe and take it to 1500 miles tho haha

    After how many miles do you think you should tune it

    • @ChrisDoesCars
      @ChrisDoesCars  3 роки тому

      I believe MAP recommended putting at least 1500 miles on the new motor before going WOT
