So many great memories of being young and free of responsibility. Partying and having so much fun. Before you know it you’re 60 and wondering where the time has gone.
@@hensalad7434 Was supposed to see them in Bendigo last Thursday night but it was cancelled due to Covid. So disappointed. Last saw them live in 84 in Melbourne. Great gig.
I was a small kid when this song was first on the radio, I rediscovered it and it was pretty much my 2020-21 anthem when we all went a little crazy after being locked down for nearly 2 years in Melbourne, Australia!
Hi, I hope you are doing OK after the stroke and that it didn't change your life too much. It's great that you are listening to music and singing along, it's a really positive sign.
Grew up in the wrong era. I get envious of my older coworkers saying they’d see aussie bands down at their local on a Friday night. The Aussie pub rock scene would’ve been AMAZING! 20c for a schooner yes please!
I remember listening to this in the early 80s in a house I grew up in that was supposedly haunted and certainly had an eerie vibe. The whole Flowers album brings back memories of my early childhood in that house!
this is so extremely, awfully straight and ingenious. Could listen to that all day and night long. Forget Frozen Yoghurt, Chia seeds, and all the modernist fluffstuff - this is REAL music :)
I remember hearing this in my big brothers XC falcon GS on his pioneer tape deck.. . It was in the compilation tape 1981 The Sound. Great era for music
Incredibly solid first record was Flowers, Ice house. Almost all great songs. This record, Mi Sex Space Race, and Pink Floyd The Wall were the first records I got obsessed with as a 10 year old, and I still love them to this day 😎 Poor whipper snappers now won't get this joy decades later like I can... Sux to be old but incredibly thankful I grew up in an age where music was art from the soul rather than created as a mindless disposable commodity.
Same as mental as anythings if you leave me can i come too they shot that in my dads cousins place in hobart tassie they gave him a carton of beer and 20 bucks towards the rent lmfao true shit swear on my kids
Love it: especially as it's credited (correctly) to Flowers. I have a CD made from my original vinyl album "Icehouse" by FLOWERS. You wouldn't believe how hard it was to get Media Player to recognise it as such, and get the track order right.
But they turned into a generic top 40, pop band and he looked ridiculous with the big mud flap etc., I lost all interest after that. I did like the single they made just after their first album, I think it was called Love in Motion..that was cool.
One of my all time fave's, and I had no idea there was a music video. It's better than me, 18, Friday night, drunk, urinating on our neighbour's fence, bellowing "Who is that pissing on the wall......"
Nice title for the video. Was easy to find on a simple Google search, just from a few faulty lyrics "writing on the wall flowers" . Lovely ditty; lovely house interior ! . Cheers. from, del-boy
Anyone else hear "Shut the door, Shut the door, Shut the door, Shut the door..." from @ every time this plays on the radio (ok so I still listen to the radio).
Modern pop or whatever you call that crap doesn't hold a candle to bands like Icehouse who could actually write and produce ma$terpieces. Aussie legends ...
I love these old Australian video clips. I love the subtle use of femininity with the white shoes and the veil being ripped off and the carnations and crystal chandelier . Its kind of saying something without saying it. Just hinting. We lived in a rented old colonial house that was over 100 years old , we used to call the house "hairy grumb castle" lol , this video reminds me a bit like the hall way in this and I loved the house even though we think there was a ghost there. when we were there a old man came calling one night and my father gave him some food and stuff and we always thought he was Ned Kelly's youngest brother Dan and it was rumored he was in Ipswich but I not sure if it was really true. My great Grandmother knew Kate Kelly well. They rode bare back horses together. Its funny how people from ancestors past come back into your life. You do have to listen carefully like this song says about the walls. It had the polished wood floors and long hall and on top the doors it had these pretty lattice floral carvings and big doors ! I love that vintage aussie look and sound. I was so happy there and we used to rent out all these art works from the library. I still love icehouse.
A fantastic song from Flowers yes Icehouse is a much better name! Icehouse were big when I was a kid and I always loved their music, but until now didn't know they were from Australia! That's odd I thought I knew every Australian band and here's a band I thought were UK, but they're from Australia. A lot of great bands come from Down Under and I've always wanted to go there it is such a long plane flight, but I'd say worth it. From personal experiences Aussies are some of the nicest people in the world! I've loved every Australian I've met. Peter Beckett of Player is Australian. Tin Tin come from Australia. Rick Springfield, a lot of great music!
Hi Mate. I'm from Perth Australia. You're right. The lead singer in flowers/icehouse is Ivor Davies. He's a good songwriter. Australia is the best place ever. And our music is world class. Some other stuff you might like. From the 70's - Russell Morris ( the real thing) (wings of an eagle) ( sweet sweet love). The group - such a lovely way. And probably the best band from australia _ cold chisel. there's heaps of other aussie music that's just great.
joseph raccuia You are spot on! I'd love to go to Australia and New Zealand sure I'd love it in fact I've wanted to go to Australia since I saw the movie The Lighthorsemen about Aussies in WW1- tragic history. It started before that even. Master's Apprentices and Air Supply got me interested. Then you have Easybeats and AC/DC both great bands. You know a band called Finch? Supposedly their albums are amazing. It's very expensive or else just plain really hard to get Aussie and Kiwi albums here- really expensive too a lot of them. You're right world class country of friendly people and great bands. Far flung places such as Australia, New Zealand, Scandinavia won't be polluted by American rock at its worst. Bands form a unique identity in countries such as yours and Scandinavian ones. Sometimes there are bands like Player who manage to straddle the line. Easybeats for me are a band who sound Australian although that would take pages to write why. I love John Farnham. Cold Chisel I've heard are extraordinary and what I've heard of their music certainly makes me think they are! Original version of "When The War Is Over" later covered by Little River Band and Uriah Heep. I don't think it was good that American companies ignored a lot of the bands from other countries or just made it impossible for them to go anywhere. I completely agree with you- fantastic country just if you got back a long time in history some very bad stuff happened. Gallipoli was horrible. I've seen that movie too and I can't watch it anymore. Especially as we never learn. I'd love to have an Aussie friend so feel free to write to me! Ben
Peter Beckett of Player is from Liverpool England! His desire to become a musician stemmed from seeing the Beatles at the Cavern. At the age of 26 he moved to USA (LA) where he has lived ever since. Maybe you are thinking he's Australian as he was once in the Little River Band?
Iva Is the consummate director and artistic controller and always has been he knows me because we met years ago but he doesn't remember me but that doesn't matter his work will last on for at least 1000 years

I loVe Flowers today as much as I did when I heard them 30 or 40 years ago. Still sounds fresh in 2021.
After a stroke at 50 singing has helped.Songs became my medicine. Music of yesterday have become my epic poetry. Ty Iva for becoming my doctor.

im 24 years old this year, glad my dad forced this kind of music into me, "icehouse" was one of the first albums i listened too

So did I

this is so extremely, awfully straight and ingenious. Could listen to that all day and night long. Forget Frozen Yoghurt, Chia seeds, and all the modernist fluffstuff - this is REAL music :)
