Welcome to the second episode of my viewer scenario contest. In this episode we have two scenario's. The first is what if Martians invaded Earth in 1913, based on the War of the Worlds mocumentary. Aliens land in Bavaria and quickly spread to envelop the European continent. The German empire gets completely destroyed, as do Austria Hungary and much of Central Europe. After this the Martians go on one final conquest spree, conquering the Low Countries and pushing deep into Russia... How will humanity be able to stop these invaders?

That's a common trope. There are like two or three sequels of war of the worlds with him on chargue. One of them have him riding atop a human reverse-engineered tripod, carrying a heavy machine gun and a human energy weapon, downing marties like is nobody's bussiness.
I imagine that the reason that the Martians haven’t launched a second invasion is because when they launched some of their stuff back home, they carried a human pathogen back with them. Which may have infected martians and crippled their civilization.
Wow, that would be amazing.
Deffenders in a spacefaring war of conquest/invasion have the unsurmountable advantage of living there. Unless we have star wars levels of instant travel, and even if in some ways, The attackers bassicaly have what they came with and that's it, they have to succed alone and succed fast because reinforcements aint on the way. Even if reinforcements are on the way, if said reinforcements take centuries, even decades to come, they may aswell never come
A space conquering civilization may very well have settled for not reinforcing their troops, never. A succesfull conquering space force would likely send invasion forces everywhere in an atempt to engulf as much space as possible for to negate it to competitors, then it would likely only resuply those invasion forces that succeded as you do with an investment, and for those who werent fruitfull, well.. You cut your loses and forget about those
or it could have just been so resource intensive for there otherwise far less resource rich planet that its gonna take them another 100 to 200 years to rebuild a proper invansion fleet.
@@housewilma4904 Yea
Kinda funny how we're much more eager to fight against a common enemy, rather than cooperate towards not starting unnecessary conflicts.
Co-operation with different groups isnt built into us and requires us to be socially emgineered naturally or artificially and/or heavily policed for that to occur.
This helps reduce the amount of "fat" that accumulates in every species, so that a new and "better" humanity is constantly being forged. (better in this context meaning more likely to survive)
I mean when both of your existence is doomed if another one is still existing your way more likely to work together then if neither of your existences are doomed but working together might lead to the betterment of both.
Human nature is selfish but we’re not stupid.
Fighting united against a common enemy does seem pretty cooperative to me.

I think that’s a far more interesting scenario than this video tbh.
@@TAKE_BACK_BRITAIN Agreed, this scenario is kinda meh, the author was more concerned about having the results parallel our own timeline rather than presenting a compelling & comprehensive look into how the scenario would actually play out. Martians being stopped before reaching Paris or St. Petersburg? The Suez canal holding out where larger Egyptian cities didn't? Yeah, I like this other take better already.
@@bustavonnutz it is said the aliens aren’t trying to achieve victory and the invasion is more of a resource thing from a dying empire trying to survive. But I do agree that the Suez not falling is unrealistic as the aliens are implied to have done some research on earth before invading and yet they didn’t take the most important piece to global trade
I liked this scenario, nice touch with leaving the origin of the martians ambiguous. They were only spotted near Mars

When H. G. Wells wrote the novel "War of the Worlds" he wrote it specifically as a social commentary on British colonialism doctrines to begin with, with the deliberate criticism of his own countrymen by comparing them to the Martians who invaded England in the novel.
I've read a soviet "spinoff" where a British officer starts to collude with Martians, of course it was 90% propaganda but rather funny. 90% of Germany and Austria dead, the neatherlands and poles lost a similar amount, Russia alone probable lost 20-30 million. I’m guessing 100-150 million dead, then another 100 million from the plague. Or 7.4 percent of 1914 population. 250 million dead is low end, not fully taking into count the Middle East, Africa and India. All of Persia gone too.

7:40 Seeing where the wind was blowing, the Italians bravely took a stand and... joined their Martian overlords.
Would have been interesting to see what would have happened if the martians landed on an island (in the UK for example) instead. Being on an Island would have been an interesting scenario!
They'd have been lamb-blasted, I don't think there'd be much of a diaspora post-war, if you think the Germans had it bad in this scenario, what your proposing would blow it out of the water.
@@buzter8135 Given that the Martians have demonstrated a persistent inability to cross large bodies of water, I thought this would be an interesting scenario for both. Because the British fleet would have been (most likely) destroyed and no other power at the time had a fleet anywhere near as powerful (and necessary) to cross the channel.
@@RealCodreX It sound's pretty bleak for the humans in this scenario with the Royal Navy crippled the martians would have the chance to attain naval superiority.
They didn't land on an island on purpose, their entire strategy relied on material gathering so they had to land on a continent with a lot of it and they HAD to land in one of the strongest nations so that they could wipe it out quick and then take their time plucking up resources. They could have gone after America but we weren't densely populated so it didn't seem like we were anywhere near as much of a threat, on top of that they needed a place where it was easy to travel to grab more resources without having to go far, and most of the resources in the US are pretty far apart
@@RealCodreX That isn't true at all, German Navy was just as massive and arguably even more powerful
From what I remember of the War of the Worlds, I’m pretty sure it was stated that the Martian civilisation was on its last legs and nearing total collapse due to their planets ecosystem and what not degrading over time.
As such, the invasion was a last ditch effort to save their species as they planned to migrate to Earth. This probably explains why considerations such as disease etc where not taken into account, and it also makes sense as to why no reinforcements where sent after disease set in, as in the book it’s assumed that most of the Martian military capability is already in Earth after the fall of humanity. Therefore, when the Martians are defeated, that’s practically the end for them which is why no other invasion happens.
They also do a landing on Venus.

gotta love a more indepth standalone version of such a complex fictional scenario
It's kinda terrifying to think that Humanity only barely prevailed against the Martians, considering that the post-war commentary implies the Martians were just a disorganized force trying to gather resources due to a crisis at home. If their goal when invading was to actually conquer the planet, we would've been screwed.
"The martians simply went around the migono line" 😂 man that line got me
The logic is evident on a galactic scale 😂
migono?
I've seen Independence Day and that crop duster in the cut scene that brought those aliens down wasn't all that different from the bi-planes available at the time so those Martians were lucky the germs got them first.
I mean the reason why the martians did invade in the original book in 1898 ( If I recall properly) , was that mankind go too evolved. Consindering that heavy artillery could damage the tripods and that thunderchild was able to destroy some ( An mere Ironclad)) the martians would have a rude awakening when invading earth in the 1910s or later having Dreadnoughts which are a multiple as powerful as such an described Torpedo Ram and fast firing artillery around. The first man made object in space was an arillery projectile of the paris gun. Also the understanding of a lot of the things that do happen in the original novel are better understood, the black smoke , well gas the red weed, and see what happens.
Also that just more people and and maschinery is available to produce for a war economy and that there are massive stockpiles of new toys for the military to play around at this point in time.
1898 Tech was not too different from 1913
@pootis how is that funny
@@submarine6410 Dont underestimate that the first 10 years of the 20th century were a huge jump in tech and distribution. For example in those ten years about 60% of major cities in Germany were got electricity for the first time.
@@vHindenburg , in terms of military, nothing major changed, similar guns, im mean sure dreadnought were invented, but they are just bigger versions of existing warships. I suspose gas was invented but other than that, tech was relatively similar
@@submarine6410 Dreadnought, Submarines, Technically Aircraft carriers. The upgrade from 12" Blackpowder guns to 14-15" which use a far more potent propellant, more modern Railways, 1914 portable radios were already available and 1916 already in use in aircraft. That is a similar jump in tech like from 1998-2013 think on what happened in that time frame. The changes at the beginning of the 20th century were massive, look on how a car looked in 1898 and one in 1906 (Namely Renault). There are a lot of examples. And a lot will just stay under the radar, because a lot of changes happened in medicine and chemistry, which are not imedeatly apparent.

Atlantis probably did exist but wasnt an advanced utopia or some shit like that
It was probably some west iberian or west north african town or island which got flooded and destroyed during the end of the last ice and younger dryas.
Kinda suspicious how all cultures have a flood myth and theres evidence of a major flood, everywhere around the end of the last ice age.
I do think atlantis was much more advanced then any civilization to come in the next 13000 years though.
IMO we prob technologically surpass the atlantians around the invention of gundpowder and guns.
It wouldnt matter though because atlantis if it existed around the time of the romans it'd just get overrun by roman legionarries even with more advanced technologies.
Then the romans would reverse engineer the technology but the guys who reverse engineered it would be killed by the emperor unless the emperor was one of the good emperors.
I would love this scenario to continue!!
Go and watch The Great Martian War 1913 - 1917
H.G Wells would have been impressed by this. Great job. I'm not one for "historical fiction" but this was well done and now a favorite!
One of, if not my favorite war of the worlds videos! The author did a great job creating it and you did a great job narrating it. If it comes out a sequel would be awesome, maybe a human counterattack on a potential Martian/Wendigo Homeworld? Ironically very little sci fi scenarios have humans invade other planets that are inferior/at such a heavy disadvantage like disease
If there's a non-canon Battlefield video game that features a Martian Invasion during World War I, that would've been awesome!
"he who sleeps"on an oceanic planet could be a version of sorts of cthulhu. lovecraft and conan-doyle could have been brought in as communicators
I loved the ending. Having that random meteor appear is such a full circle ending! (I'm a big fan of circular endings)
I also love how the viewer created this idea that newer generations become more and more disinterested in fighting the Martians as a parallel to how people have been treating the Cold War and communism as a joke. Of course, the best part is how certain parts of the world used the Martians to inform their ideologies in their own way.
This is the plot of the great Martian war documentary that was made lol
My favorite video of yours… Constantly rewatching this.
This was one AMAZING video!! Good job.
16:38 made me fire beer out my nostrils
I like this, it's a more realistic and well thought out idea of the great Martian war. It takes into account things the show definintly missed and options the martians definintly would have taken but couldn't owing to the shows limited budget.
Yeah, homeworld command in the eyes of the Martian soldiers really messed-up big time with administrating the invasion: their own troops couldn't even figure out what the mission was! That one alone explains a lot of their messed-up tactics and behaviors: they had no idea what their assignments were! Put yourself in their shoes: you're going to make a lot of blunders too in that case... your orders, as Sun Tzu would say, were not clear; so your boss, whoever he is, failed badly in his assigned tasks of clearly conveying your work task assignment list!
As for humans in this scenario: life under any human government is far preferrable to life under Martian rule, where humans are classified as either slaves, slave-soldiers "Lobatans" for short being their classification of the humans they force to fight in their ranks, or mere livestock to be "dinner" to these aliens, which feed on human *blood*, by injecting it, live, into their own veins.
I find it odd that the aliens would stick to the german border and not invade either switzerland, austria or france. If they originally landed in the Schwarzwald, the road to france would be shorter than the road to Berlin.
The Alps - not too friendly as a terrain type to these behemoths.

love how humans in all the modern alien invasion movies never think to use their literal city-destroying bombs. GIVE THE MARTIANS A NICE, NEW SUN, MAN!
There's a few settings were is stated that if there's one understanding beetwen the humans and the aliens is that nukes and mass destruction weappons are out of the question. The aliens dont glass the planet from orbit because they want it and if they were to use mass destruction devices they know humans have a kill switch in the form of nuclear self anihilation wich would waste al of the martians work and hoppes for the planet. So if humans just were to be nuking the aliens clean off or knocking ships in space with nukes they would be forcing the alines hand to use their own mass destruction means and everyone looses

Really interesting and entertaining video
Did he mention Harry Turtledove? He wrote a series of books about this exact thing. I believe they came out in the late 1980s or early 1990s? He also wrote alternate history of the American civil war. All good reads and I definitely recommend them.
I really just want in this scenario for some of the martians to invade the US and kick there ass for a while and get rid of that "They can't cross here" mentality along with Japan as well.
I love as well the twist you had with the martian units, wish that they arrive again in the near 1930's with immunity to Earth's environment and with more powerful tech to test the earthlings once more and with the third getting them more serious.
Really cool video, this obviously isn't realistic for reasons like:
1) These invaders come from a planet that's really far (Let's say 1 Light Year or 9.4 Trillion/Billion (Depends on your language) kilometers) meaning that they have far superior technology, easily sweeping through The Earth.
2) Earth could easily have life conditions that aren't suitable for the invaders. Oxigen could maybe kill them, they might be used to other temperatures, maybe there's something that they need to live that Earth hasn't....
See this as Humans trying to invade Venus, the temperatures are too extreme (453C/847F), the atmosphere is made out of CO2 and the clouds are made out of sulphuric acid....
3) The invaders would have previous knowledge of Earth before invading it, and that is probably a big big advantage.
Humans had lots of knowledge about the Moon before landing on it, the same happens with Mars, we know there's mountains and things like that, but no human has ever been there.
This isn't a hate comment, I actually think that this video shows a realistic way humans could win and the implications of a Martian Invasion.
I love your videos because you never change things that wouldn't make sense which is cool considering other alt history youtubers.
Did you watch the video? They're *martians*. they come from *MARS*. "Trillions" and "Billions" are also not language-specific. One trillion is one-thousand billions.
Mars is also 1.5 AU away from the sun, nowhere close to a light year. (Earth is 1 AU.)
Mars has a large amount of co2, which is probably what they breathed. The "toxic gases" were probably concentrated co2 emissions coming from their breathing apparatuses.
Mars is somewhat similar to Earth in terms of temperatures, albeit a lot colder. Humans trying to invade Venus would not be a good comparison, because the temperature ratio is much more extreme and we do not have technology to get there yet (however, the martians in this video had technology to land here without dying.)
The invaders would probably not have had much knowledge of Earth before invading it. Even the biggest telescopes probably couldn't make out anything larger than a town, and since martians probably had no concept of our language due to the very recent invention of radio communication they would have no idea what specific countries or dialects existed, however you could argue instead that Martians sent probes here to observe us before the invasion began.
Humans also have extensive photos of mars from the probes we've sent, including topological data (mountains and such.) Rovers have been there to measure countless things and take rock samples
Overall a well-meaning comment, but I would think it out a bit more first (maybe do some research next time). Not a hate comment, just constructive criticism.
Please make more of these expanding into SciFi series like star trek!
Needs a part 2
51:55, there never was a “party switch” that’s a simplistic understanding. The parties just changed, they didn’t switch

Infertile & toxic for how long? These have been poisoned by alien poisons…for all we know they are the equivalent of Fly spray, completely lethal in an area, but for a staggeringly short period.
They have African colonies and in Asia. There's a reason why the great war aka ww1 spread to Asia, and Africa.
Sounds a bit like a miniatures game named "All Quiet on the Martian Front", involving a global invasion by Martians around the time of WW1... and is older than both that film you cited and this idea *combined*, as well as a movie documentary by a similar name to what you said, Sir.
>aliens attack, but leave the US alone for now
"Eh, not our problem. We're gonna be listening to jazz soon."
>supply of European sausages will be cut off
"Okay, now it's our problem. We need those sausages!"
We need a part 2
