Is nobody going to talk about the fact Ian actually asked nardwuar how he was
Ian jus chill like that
I met my hero, Ian, at Fitzgerald's (RIP) in Houston years ago. We had an animal rights booth upstairs. Fugazi wouldnt play a place that served alcohol because they wanted ALL AGES shows. Fitz complied, but tried to boot us and our booth for more space. I talked to Ian and he told the owner, if you boot them, we dont play. Epic HERO save!
what an amazing human, bless up
Houston rep
I have two friends in Iron Cross. Or they where
Ian such a goat
Fucking legendary
I see people here being angry or disappointed with this interview because Ian was "boring" or "analytical".
If you guys actually know how Ian acts, or any of his bands, you know that this is more of just him being him. Been a long fan of Minor Threat and Fugazi and this is a great interview.
Agreed.
Really! I was drawn in to his punk stories of how DC was back in the hay day of Punk . He even mentions the other legend of DC, HR of Bad Brains !
Is ian a homosexual?
DirtyWhite BoyzInDaHood not sure if this a troll. He has a 10 year old son and two bands with his wife who plays drums...Check out their project “The evens” and coriky
@@Hardbody94 oh ok...so hes bi..
after watching the 2001 interview, it really made me happy to see Ian doing doot doo!
Spoiler alert :p
I like how Ian shrugs off the importance of some questions but then gives rly good insight hahaha... also amazing how nardwuar bounces back so effortlessly where any small remark from Ian would make me cry.
Ian mackaye has always kept it 100.
Every interview Ian has ever done he’s just like “why are you even interviewing me?”
Great interview! First time I've seen someone already have a gift
More proof Ian is one of the nicest guys. He doesn't want to take something he already has.
"Waiting Room" is so appropriate right now. Anyone?
Scott Taylor yup, it’s on my quarantine playlist

Of course Ian already has those Hendrix bootlegs. 😁
Nardwar VS Ian MacKaye interviews should be a monthly thing now
These two have a unique relationship…
Ian's memory is impressive. Don't do drugs kids!
Yaaa! Saw this guy all the time growing up, my dad being a friend and fellow punk musician. Being a kid going to Fugazi shows was... interesting to say the least. I never realized they were a big deal until I grew up.
This is a great one. Hilarious to hear Ian griping about the sound and the size of the venue and then cutting straight to the video. Good job with those port-a-johns, Nardwuar!
When Ian goes to buy a hat how does he pick one out?
"Is it way smaller than my head?"
I'll take it!

Buys one that is cotton and fits, washes it, and throws it in dryer on high heat.
Randy Porter 😂👌🏽
The thing that gets me is that Nardwuar brings such gems and relics of underground musics past up, and many people he interviews almost always seem reluctant and treats him like he's almost bothering them. Meanwhile he is unearthing perspectives that fans of this music would love to know the intricacies about.
@@t6nik What was the sensitive part? We're talking about music here, not going to war.
Wanted to see the video of this forever - thanks!
Really enjoyed this thanks nardster x
Perfect example of how if you get past the silliness and novelty of NardwuarServiette... and, if you actually play ball with him, he’s hands down the best music interviewer. Ever. Btw of course Ian MacKaye gives the best NardwuarServiette interview(s) of all time. Legend. 👏 🤯 🤘🏻
Love the interviews Nardwuar!
Take care Nardwuar! I just discovered your channel and I really love the content! I also like your band -- the Evaporators! Thanks for uploading these amazing contents :D
Guilty of being Canadian
Great interview, as always
Thanks for watching ! Doot doola doot doo ,,,

I love eight year old content. It's like I have my very own time machine!
3:23 Tad opening for Primus. What a fucking night that must have been.
Hey man love ur videos
Love the discussion about the old GoGo scene in DC. Yeah, if I was in band, even if it’s benefit show, you got to at least pay us a per diem for showing up and playing an event.
We're Dischord; we don't do fucked up things.
Nardwuar is what I aspire to be
i love ian mackayes hat
Incredible 🤙🏾
i met this man back in 2010. what a nice, humble soul he is.(
ian}
You know, in the instrument documentary about fugazi, theres a clip where ians on the phone with someone after a show and he says "the guy who ran the show was a freak".
I wonder if he was talking about nardwuar after the moodyville moo moo

Nardwaur can single handly revive punk
Thank you
i love how in every interview with Ian, Ian has this kinda equal admiration and annoyance with Nardwuar. Can tell he loves the guy but also is inside like, why are you like this.
Love this!
Ian and Narduwar gel so well together. Almost like they have met their equal.
Ian's a good sport. Never heard of Go Go Funk... Cool! Going to check it out!
Watching this now - amazing that Fugazi played a show at what I'm assuming is Harry Jerome in N.V., couldn't imagine this happening now. Seylynn Community Center was also great for a while.
These stories would never be told without nardwuar
Gawd bless you Nardwuar!
"you sound like you already know"
of *_course_* he knows lol
I feel like Ian has an insane memory like nardwuar
I love that Ian has this dry og punk vibe. It makes him seem rude subtly but he’s just a smart smart guy
Legendary
Nardwuar lit asf 🤘😎
I love that guy
Awesome
No way! Fugazi played at North Vancouver Rec centre. How did I miss that show?!
“Is that a beer?” Haha love this guy he’s the reason I became straight edge he’s such a grumpy man lol
Love you narduar
Nardwuar really isnt a dummy..... dudes memory is spot on
Does he know Mike Morris from DC? Mike Morris was from the same place and time but he became a PMC who helped build a fort in Afghanistan.
We need nardwuar vs iann dior!!
I use to play hockey at the North Vancouver rec centre as a kid. My Dad would yell from the bleachers to Skate! When I didn’t skate hard enough.
Webster’s Dictionary definition of Holier Than Thou
Lol ian sounds like a punk rock politician. Not knocking it or anything, but he sounds like he's running for punk rock mayor
He really reminds me of punk rock Ron Paul
“They were kids and they grew up”
Keep asking questions
K records shirt @ 4:47 ! Neat.
yoooo that's awesome. I have the black n white one
NARD: (Gives Ian the "introductory How did you find this WOW THEM gift")
.IAN: "Thanks but I already have all these so you can hang onto them"
NARD: (Power failure)
groove magnate! what a title!
If Ian MacKaye had a beard, he would look exactly like the coomer meme
Eye Minor sounds like you
the coomer meme looks like El Duce from the Mentors
@@minoreye9984 Exactly what a boring, contrarian edge lord what say.
@@minoreye9984 Ah, yes. The most overused meme that isn’t amogus
We need a Nardwar vs iann dior.
Doot Doo Da Doot
ian ❤️ the way he says the word “doing” is my favorite ... “do - ing” with a real O sound ... he’s always said it that way since the early fugazi days and i love it.
I've always noticed that
Early bird baby!
Waiting room great freaking song but Fuck this, dude. ! Don't take the hard work. Appreciate nardwuar
That was very typical of Ian. Even if people werent fighting. He would just keep yelling to stop dancing . It was annoying
Two opposites on the spectrum (earnestly enthusiastic and zealously skeptical) coming to a head
is there a link to the live show they were talking about at 5:00?
yes
When your first on 3 videos but have nothing to say
Why did he just pull the latest video i was watching it paused it and now its gone? ok he wants everyone to watch these older vids first
Me too
It was an accident. He said in another comment he went to edit the description and accidentally deleted it instead.
Comedy Genius Ian MacKaye
Oneday He is gonna Interview me and scare the shit out of me 😂
Uncle Fatihs Pizza !!!
The Junkyard Band on Def Jam and produced by Rick Rubin? How have I never heard of this? Anyways, Ian is just unintentionally hilarious.
damn king
Nice
He's a curmudgeon I love it
I.M. ❤️🎼
people like porch shots there's a famous one with csn&y
Ian doesn't seem to impressed
Yea he seems like a "one-upper" and way too analytical to have a casual conversation. Very annoying.
@@ArbitraryLifestyle I think Ian just doesn't mesh with Nardwuar's interview style. Nard's style is to throw a bunch of references at a person and get reactions. It's very much input-output, not a conversation. If the interviewee doesn't gel with that, it sounds a lot like Nardwuar is just pumping out non-sequitur references and not trying to put a coherent story together about the artist. And Ian clearly doesn't like telling other people's stories (constantly saying 'ask them') which shuts things down more.
That's because Ian is also a hoarder, and he's very knowledgable about music just like Nard. If you think about it, Ian is just a cranky version of Nardwuar
🗿
Nice hat
Ian seems very agitated, I wonder what happened prior to this?
Davidm00sh12 he’s just a grumpy dude generally, remember he was in a band that didn’t believe in having heat in their homes
More like just a pretentious dink.
He is always like this.
@@wilhelmvg9978 the heat thing is a complete lie
Nick P yea it’s definitely a lie... he even mentioned in the instrument documentary. The problem is that Fugazi didn’t have much media coverage, so a lot of people made a lot outrageous claims... one of them being that they are “monks that live with no heat”
nice
Grandpa 👴🏻 Ian wincing through this one! Nevertheless, a true iconoclast!
Did he actually get taller and his face get longer in 11 years?? 🤔🤔🤔
I like weed and beer. Maybe that's why I've never been into Minor Threat or Fugazi lol
Same but I still love Fugazi. You can’t really tell by their music that they’re straight edge.
@@Penny_Royalty their interviews give it away though 😂 no chill
I like weed and beer and listening to fugazi late at night but I feel like I am sinning
I used to like weed and beer and psychedelics and other peppy powders and smoked cigarettes at one moment in time while Fugazi was still around and their CD’s were on my CD player constantly. All that shit got old and boring and now I’m completely sober except for coffee. Still listen to Fugazi. That habit never gets old.
I thought he might get less confrontational with age. I was wrong.
I think he HAS become less confrontational judging by the interviews he's done in the past 5 years.
GAWDAMN.
i love you

Nardwaur interviews Eminem.... Make it happen!!
boycott "hollywood records" signed artists......doo, doo !!!!
