Hello Outback Mike. I am a Traditional Owner of Birri Gubba, the Mob who took care of James Morrill. Good video. Keep the good work up mate. Thank you for sharing ours and your story. 😀🖤
@@OutbackMikeAww thank you! I love the fact that we found him because the shooting star that fell, which is our totem. It is said, that wherever the star fell either danger was coming or someone needed to be rescued from that direction. One happened this year. It took us 2 weeks before we found him. So happy you did this. A lot of people don't know. Thank you. 🖤😀🙂
Thanks for the update, Mike. I see you're planning carefully. I'm still chipping away on my redwood canoe here in California. I expect to finish it soon; I only started it in 1983! Some interruptions, of course. I read "Flight into Hell" a long time ago, and recently found out that I had forgotten the part where they lost their clothes and shoes!!,
Hello Mike I love what you're doing. I'm a long time sailor and boatbuilder living in Thailand. I've got to say, that's the coolest boat build I have seen here on YT. I'm about to start a boat build here in Thailand, just a small camper-cruiser to mess about on. Anyway, I saw your build video and began investigating your channel. I sincerely wish you all the luck in the world. I did a 10,000 kilometer trip in and around OZ..back in 2005, by motorcycle and then a bit of sailing out and off of the Whitsundays. I did a lot of outback hiking, camping and kayaking up in Kakadoo and down the middle to S. Aust. over a 6 month period. But it was nothing like what you're trying to do. Much respect and admiration. I hope your boat makes it. The good thing is that being so organic, you should be able to repair most anything that could go awri, without the need for modern materials. I'm actually kind of envious about your journey. There are those of us who contemplate doing things like this...even living this way full time. And then there are those of us who actually try to make it happen in order to see if it's possible and to what degree. However the two, I can honestly say that I would probably never have considered taking it several steps further and creating a documentary for the rest of the world to enjoy and doing it in such a way, that the authenticity of the journey was kept central in it's undertaking. I'm with you in spirit sir.
I came across your video series yesterday (emanating from an interview you did with a family that got bogged after a sudden storm, as they were crossing the Simpson desert, hence the discussions to do with emergency warning systems etc), then I stumbled, (so fortunately!), across your presentations to do with building your above cited canoe, and retracking in part, James Morrell's adventure after first becoming ship wrecked. Well, all I can say is well done; I was quite mesmerized for starters, watching you turn a large tree trunk, bit by bit into a very well crafted & clearly capable water vessel. In an age now of reliance on industrial manufacturing for nearly everything we want and need, it is really refreshing to watch people actually make something from scratch, using mostly hand made tools, hard work, and skill. To a lesser degree, my own husband and I enjoy doing similar with our camping system/ my husband enjoy solving his rebuild of a 4wd vehicle/mechanical matters, but nothing as sophisticated as your own project of course - still there is a strange sense of satisfaction regardless working things out/solving problems/and making something that is unique, aside even from watching woodwork take form as you have shown. I liked also the subtleties of your boat build, your bed configuration/storage hatches/how you used your canvas sail for a multitude of purposes, which I note you also hand sewed; even down to the little canisters you made to store ginger and honey, and just so much more. I have gladly shared the longer version you made of your vessel build with others, expecting they will also appreciate it as well. I think many of us like to dream of going on some wild adventure; going to a remote island, or doing something really daring and inspiring, but it is another level to do what you are doing, and here I say, Good on you. I have no doubt your intended series will find a highly attentive audience, because it is different and so interesting. I like your commentary about the Aboriginals, the way you explain how well James Morrell and the other crew were also treated by the Aboriginals, whom sometimes as you explain, have not always had the recognition they rightly deserved - what they went through, yet their gentleness of heart to others. Anyway, for what I have seen so far, a great story on so many levels. Cheers, and safe travels as well.

Did you just say _“living their best life”?_ Don’t forget to “walk in your truth” and “stand in your power.”
Leave the left-wing politics out of it.
Which left wing politics?
