I feel your pain. I have the same car and colour, 1 week in hit a pothole damaged both front and back offside slicing a cut in both tyres cost me £650 for the tyres, the same rim protectors as yours arrived the next day 😔 and has covered my shame
@@MartinPendle-s2d - that so hurting to hear. I’ve just ordered another set of protectors as I believe it was my crap driving that caused the damage after the protecters done the job. At least I will have a few spares when needed. They are cheap enough at £47.00
Get magbak rimcase it hides existing damage and protects from existing damage. It fits right into the design of your wheels aswell
Just did the same in my model Y performance. Only had it 3 weeks. Got a guy coming on the weekend who will put it back as good as new.
@@Rambo9700 - nice one, how much will he charge per corner if you don’t mind me asking
@@Sunderland1963 the guy I use will charge £60 per wheel. He’s rated 5 star in all his reviews. He did some work on my X5 a year ago.
@@Rambo9700 that’s a great price
The first time hurts lots but not so much the next time. 🙂
Thanks - so easy to do but I’m kicking myself as I should have stopped straight away
@@Sunderland1963 Yes I know the feeling. I have a 2023 MYP.
@@zubinix- so sickening 😢
So basically don’t bother with buying rim protection, they are more to cover up after you curb your wheels.
@@magdumpmedia3806 - hmmm great question / statement. When I look back on how it happened I believe the rim protection definitely helped as it would have been a lot worse. When I initially heard the grind I should have stopped and assessed what I done. It’s my belief that if I did that the rim protectors would have done the job. When they impact the kerb they will come off. Like an idiot I continued on and now the kerb is hitting the wheel and not the protecter. Just to be sure I’ve ordered another set of rim protectors as I will know what to do next time and I will have a stash of replacements available just in case. I will keep you posted if my theory is right
pretty easy fix, just sand it and spray paint it, don't do brush touch up, it looks like shit
After all it's just a car. But yea, the wheels on the Y get easily scuffed. When upgrading my 3 to a Y in a couple of years, I will avoid the original wheels.
Scuffed my 3 wheels a year ago, and I fixed it myself. But they werent scuffed as bad as these.
Gutted. It could have been worse, I was expecting bodywork damage. I've got a about 3" of kerb rash on one of my model 3 wheels....sooo annoying. But it does infuriate me how they have to but this huge big kerb stones in car park entrances. Totally unnecessary.
@@Jason_1010 thanks mate - even a stone chip would make me feel that way lol 😂
@@Sunderland1963 I'm right with you on that! 😆
wait, so the scuffs are made even with the wheel protection cover on?
@@straden79 - The wheels would have been damaged a lot more if it wasn’t for the protecters. They did the job on initial impact. However I caused the damage as I continued to drive the car when I should have stopped.
Ouch! I’m so worried about doing this myself. I only reverse into parks now as nearly impossible to scratch rims reversing in as long as you keep an eye on the curb in mirror.
@@andyg3752 - it’s a horrible feeling
What tyre shine do you use please?

@@Sunderland1963 Thankyou very much
I did it the first week i owned my quicksilver MY . I sprayed mine with black stove paint lol .
You know its going to happen again .
@@THE_MASK_REAL_ONE - I know but it’s just so soul destroying lol 😂
Man stop with the Tesla wheels thing. I do feel your pain though. I had 19" TSWs on my Model 3 with right-size tires and still felt the shame and anguish of the rim crunch. Tough because they will never be the same unless refinished professionally.
@@ricric9521- I agree I will get them done professionally at some point
Just paint it and buy a magbak protector it helps a lot
I thought it was obligatory for Tesla owners to blame the missus for kerb rash ?
lol 😂
The wheels are shite anyway. Time for some aftermarket’s.
I only had my MYP, for 5 days, when it happened to me😢 a well she is christened now. 😊
@@roraidhirwin4764 - one of the problems of owning a Tesla 😀
