Mazda manufacturer still thinking that 3rd row is for cargo, they dont have air conditioning port for that zone, so it depends on 2nd row A/C ports so for spring or summer season that zone is going to be terrible warmer, I used to have the previous model and it was more roomy than present model because presente model spent to much space on engine bay having a smaller engine than previous, i hope next generation solve these problems. The Mazda seems well put together but it kind of pales in comparison to the Hyundai Palisade and Kia Telluride. You really can get it all in the Hyundai for $46-48K like "it all". The engine is probably my only complaint with the vehicles I mention though. Power isn't in the ideal place for those vehicles but with the 8 speed it's all good. The torquey mazda feels motivated when part to mid throttle IMO.

Personally with children I prefer the original 2017 -2019 rear seats...Captain seats are good for older people.. I can just imagine the junk and mess that will accumulate in between those buckets rear seats.. Secondly.. I bet they dont have climate control override for the rear seating vents and temps from the drivers console.. My Dodge Caravan even had that. That really sucks when you have young kids in teh back seating that are just too young to know or to even reach to control the temp. All you can do from the front console is turn it on or off....

Drivers Only I guess that’s technically an upgrade. I don’t know about you, but I’m not buying any model car with a company’s old infotainment. These manufacturers need to keep all models updated.

I just bought a 2016 CX-9 and the look of the infotainment is the one thing I seriously dislike about the car. The next thing is the fact that Android Auto doesn't work the touchscreen unless you hack it. The design, color and layout of the Mazda Connect system is just not well polished IMO.

@@mpg65 don't get me wrong, I love the car as a whole (especially coming from a 1999 Suburban with no infotainment system lol), but I just get jealous when I see how much better the graphics and resolution are on the UI on my mom's Nissan or my girlfriend's Cadillac. I'm just talking about the aesthetics. The functionality is still mostly there, which is part of why I bought the car. I watched this video thinking that Mazda would make the 2020 infotainment look a little better, but it looks like it's the exact same as my 2016.

You haven't driven it. I was saying the same before I test drove it. Can't judge everything based on specs. I would never in my wildest dreams imagined a 4-cylinder to have enough power for this class of vehicle, but the turbo on this SkyActiv engine setup they got going on is really tuned well and I was almost blown away compared to what I expected.

Unfortunately, the "big upgrades" for the CX-9 in 2020 don't address its fundamental flaw -- the incredibly cramped interior space for passengers and cargo considering that the CX-9 is among the largest midsize crossovers on the market. At 199" in length, it's longer than almost every other competitor. Only the Dodge Durango and buslike Chevy Traverse are longer. Yet the total cargo space of the CX-9 is 71 cubic ft, significantly less than a Honda CRV at almost 76 cubic ft. Overall passenger space is slightly over 135 cubic ft. The KIA Sorento, almost a foot shorter than the CX-9, has up to 154 cubic ft.
It's hardly surprising then that the CX-9 was the worst selling midsize 3 row crossover in the US out of 14 models in 2019 with total sales of fewer than 27,000 units. And it's not surprising that the CX-5, 20" shorter but with the same engine and drive train as the CX-9 available outsold the CX-9 by six to one. Mazda builds some impressive vehicles. The CX-9, unfortunately, isn't one.
