Looking forward to this being released and hearing reviews of it. I have never owned a streamer, but I’m considering adding one to my 2.1 rig now. It simply seems so convenient. I’m old (70’s), and I think the future of Hi Fi is here. No telling where it will go from here, but I’m sure it will be in the digital domain. Judging from my grandson’s habits & lifestyle, I believe he would have an all digital stereo system. 🎶
For me screen is too small if you want this to receive sound from my TV and would also need an amp or active speakers
Yet there's a headphone jack which i appreciate (wish the pro plus had one) but then who sits that close to the tv?

Hey it has a headphone amp in it. You pair it with a Fosi or whatever amp you already have. Squeezelite means you can use logitech media server to stream your local music. De Phono amp can do MM and MC (I wouldn't get my hopes up for sound quality)

I agree with your thoughts of connecting this to a proper power amp. This looks like a really good contender for an excellent pre-amp!

For a second, I was like wait, did Bob beat Randy to the punch with the WiiM Ultra?!?! Because let's face it without Randy WIiM wouldn't be as big as it is in the community. I would get one even though I have several because of the screen and the other interesting features that make my vintage setups the best of both worlds.
They have made modern technology available to us at a discount and with a top UI!
Still enjoying my wiim amp, dac sounds good and gives me enough power.
A lot of the "uberaudiofiles" have been hating on it lately. I'm glad we're enjoying ours!
I appreciate your inclusive message to help people get into listening to music. As I get older I’ve come to realize I do more with the less expensive tool o have than the expensive one I never seem to get.
Especially when any one hobby or tool doesn’t exist in a vacuum, but is competing with many other important expenditures and priorities in one’s life.

I'm looking at this or the Eversolo for a new setup, possibly paired with the Fosi v3 mono amps. But I'm waiting on reviews etc of course, plus trying myself.
Squeezelite is a music protocol like Roon, but way older. First created by Slim Devices in the early 2000s. At the time they created various Squeezebox devices that were streamers with various different connections & roles. At somepoint Logitech bought out Slim Devices, and continued with them for a littlewhile before closing the line.
The software was always open source, so anyone can set up a Squeezebox server, to play to Logitech and Slim Devices. But other manufacturers could also add the client, Squeezelite in this case, so the server can play to them too.
It was my first digital multi-room music setup.
Glad you showed that Lou Reed album because anyone who wonders about whether analog or digital sounds better get your fancy streamer and play Transformer
Then get an original pressing of Transformer on vinyl and play that on your modest Project debut/Rega P/fluance etc with your 2m blue/Nagaoka mp150 etc and your Schiit Mani and tell me what sounds better.

I just did an A/B test with my Eversolo DMP-A8 vs Vinyl and a good pressing of several albums won by a nose. The A8 is very good and I really like it, but just my cartridge cost what 2 of the A8's cost so need to take that into consideration.

I have a Wiim mini that I use with my headphone dac amp. It does a nice job for that setup. At this point, I prefer my Bluesound Node for my main setup. The next piece I am considering is a better dac to put inline with the Node.

This is still cheaper and fresher than a basic Node (without amp) and the WiiM software/app is bonkers! But Blusound is my second favorite. Thanks for watching!

I had the Node long before Wiim came along, otherwise I might buy a Wiim for my main setup. At this point, my money is better spent on a dac I believe. I like the Bluesound operationally.

I'm hoping they eventually release something like an upgraded Wiim amp without all the streaming features. I don't need those at all but would love to see more affordable amp options with actual useful features like true sub out, EQ, crossovers, etc.
We will find out soon. I think this unit will be a smash hit!

I'd be one of those in the target market for this. After all, we're told that separates are the way to go, and I already have a DAC and a power amp. My streamer is one of the WiiM pucks (although my DAC - the Gustard R26 - also has a streaming function), so I could be looking to upgrade. And I'm a sucker for a display with cover art. :)

I don't think I'd NEED a display on my Wiim streamer, but I'd FANCY one for sure 🙂
The new feature of room correction software is a step into the right direction I think (if the UX is good and if it works as good as the Lyngdorf variant).
Only thing missing from Wiim would be a powerful amp with the same footprint (Mytek has done that with the Brooklyn amp, but at a much higher price level than Wiim)
I think a matching amp would be smart to stack with it. Also, I wish there was more room correction details. Maybe I just missed it! Thanks for watching!

I apologize for the lack of updates on the room correction feature in recent weeks. I'm happy to share some good news: we've resolved several issues related to MIC measurement and room correction configuration. We plan to release the third version of our Beta software next week, which significantly enhances performance. Please stay tuned!" Next week would be from 13 May 2024, and that'll affect beta-users I guess.

Wiim seem to be following Eversolo's playbook so I would expect a an amplifier at some point which should be pretty interesting.
BTW, Sqeeze Lite is open source version of Logitech's Sqeezebox, so basically a Roon alternative. Speaking of which hopefully Wiim adds Plex Amp support to the Wiim platform, that would be pretty big win for both Plex and Wiim.

You got me! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I own 2 WiiM Pro units now (with external DACs) and I'm wondering does a display screen make all that much functional difference when you're use to driving it with the App ? 🙄 I dunno . . . Methinks I'll sit out this one like I did the Pro+ & Amp to see what the next gen Ultra (Ultra+ ?) offers . . . Just saying. 😁 However, the Sub Out on the device does tease the possibility of adding a modern subwoofer 🔊 to a vintage receiver \ integrated amp without a lot of intermediary stuff to do it . . . Hmmmmmmmmmmm . . . . 🙄😉🤓
Great sub woofer point! And the addition of a phono pre-amp links the WiiM digital world to analog... and will be appealing, as well as a headphone amp. I still believe there will be a lot of value here! We will see when we see! Thanks watching!
so here is the rub: My spare TV is a 42" display. I have a chrome cast plugged in. Tidal connect. Digital out into a J2 DAC. Into a A07 Sparkos amp and some Jamo bookshelf speakers. I don't see the point in getting a different streamer. with this sound better than Chromecast?

I had to laugh when you confessed to the clickbait motivations. I'm curious to see the WiiM Ultra when it does get here. The 3.5" screen is nowhere near enough screen for me once I'm a few feet away. As a volume or other control display it may be just fine but we shall see. I'm wondering if WiiM is going to go the Fosi route and drop a monoblock power amp. Another cool video thanks Bob. NOTE: Squeezelite is a carryover from Logitech Squeezbox streamers which a lot of folks haven't seen for a few years and John Darko is a big fan of.

I'll stick with my Node X,Node gen 1 and gen 2..just like BluOS. Don't need screen cause I get a new phone every two to three years. The new Wiim will be awesome for Newbies 😊though.
I'm kind of on the fence with the whole screen thing. I'm atleast 7-8 feet from my system, and a screen is just to far away to really enjoy it. And if I want Album art, well I run my Wiim Pro Plus through my tablet, sooo.
The Cambridge AXN100 looks really cool, but there again, the screen is still to far away. And with my J2 Dac hooked up to my Pro Plus, I'm happy. I hope you get to review it.
You can also put your phone on a stand next to a component... program it not to sleep... and watch that! I'm still glad, the WiiM screen will be included. We will have to wait and see! Thanks for watching!
I have a mini, and a WiiM amp. Like the eq options. Anyway, tried to watch a movie connected to my system and it was no bueno. The dialogue was of synch with the video. My tv offers some adjustability (delay?) but not the opposite direction. So, with my tv (hysense?) it doesn’t work at all for movies. Hate my tv anyway, might just replace. My tv is part of the android/google exosystem. Who knew TVs were now Apple or Google. Anyway, if moxie playback is important, just make sure they synch up front. While you still have a return option. Otherwise I like my WiiM Amp. Even if it’s not here to stay.

It’s a cool device. You’re right of about the screen, I won’t be able to see it. I use my Wiims as digital transports as I connect them to my dacs. I might buy it to replace one of my hockey puck WiiMs.

So this time, everyone showed interest in Wiim Ultra. However, at this year's Munich 2024 High End Exhibition, it was featured in the Wiim Amp pro brochure.
The ultra is gonna be big value for the money like all their products but this one is actually nice. They are also releasing the wiim amp pro.

Good morning from Toronto I have the ween original streamer feeding my den Aries deck and it’s pretty damn good. The only way to improve it. I think it’s to have a much better streaming unit not quite to the quality of the rose at $5000 US but something may be in the thousand dollar range to compete with Cambridge and others in that range, have a great weekend
Just ordered a Rose Rs130 after my Aries G2 developed a fault. Looking forward to how it compares.
I also have a Wiim Pro for streaming music in my surround system, and it is a great little streamer, far better than the HEOS streaming in my Denon amp.

I love my Wiim mini's. Have 3 of them. I use an external DAC in every case, so not sure why I would need any of their other products, but the company itself it COOL. Great App and love the constant updates. Makes me believe they give a F***.
