This is just so incredibly awesome. Love your little notebooks. I entirely love the Art-o-Mat idea. I'd be pulling nobs left and right! I'd be broke, never mind the slot machines, I'd be standing at the Art-o-Mat machines!!!!
I did not pull one slot machine lever on our trip but I yanked that Art-o-mat knob!

Oh my gosh! I got my art out of a machine in VEGAS!!! Mine was from Rags and Bones. Mini books made from vinyl record covers! I am excited for you Shannon!

Really cool! I'm going to keep my eye out for one of these. I totally thought you were going to say that you made the little tags from leftover billboard vinyl that you send with the custom keepers. I think that would be cool too. In case you get tired of making journals. I agree with whomever it was below that said one journal would be enough. Don't want to burn yourself out! Looks as though you could use the cloth you used as underlayment (the one on table) as an art installment. Thanks for the info. I remember those machines. I think there is a bar near us that still uses one. Your enthusiasm is great .

What a great idea! I live in South Africa so things like that does not exist here - but I love watching shows on TV about how people in developed countries - where they have more time to be creative - take old (and often negative things) and turn them into something positive and fun. Just sitting here, listening to you speaking, I was thinking of a dozen things that these machines could represent to different people on their holidays... each very different and personal: What slogan would you put on an advertisement for such a machine? Cigarettes are bad for you... but how about yanking the knob and buying yourself a box of Goodwill/Inspiration/Education/Culture/Imagination/Fun/Good Times/Giggles/Memories of a family holiday/A token gift to friend at home... hey, I yanked the knob for you! 😜 Shannon I think your gift is great... I love little books... any handmade books actually! If you ever come across a machine like that again, I hope you YANK the knob again 🤡🧡

Shannon!! Shannon!! Guess what!! I found the Art-O-Mat at the Cosmo!! :D Soooo excited, I got cool art from it, just yesterday, and I was jumping up and down when I found it lol!! I yanked the knob and everything lol!!

OMG I am both thrilled and completely bummed with this idea cuz I thought I invented this!! :D (I have always wanted one of those old cigarette machines, and the other day when my bf asked me what I'd do with it, I said I'd put art in it!) I went to one of 2 Art-O-Mat machines here in San Francisco. I did not find Shannon Green but I will go to the other machine to see if yours are there. I did buy a bird painting. Fingers crossed!

In case anyone else was wondering, these machines still exist. Post-Covid, one never really knows....🤔
They may have accepted everyone years ago, but they have strict requirements on their website (example: no elementary school quality art). They even said not to submit "simple collages"!?. Not sure what's considered "simple," though. Collages, IMO, are typically time-consuming and hard.
Do you wrap the boxes in acetate as well, or just the wooden blocks??
