OMG Shannon. This is stunningly beautiful. You could use it in so many ways. I absolutely love it !!!! I'm making junk journals and need awesome ideas like this for their covers. No two would be alike. I've got a cereal box ready and the bottoms of paper grocery bags covers to make into covers . I can see something like this for them. My great granddaughter loves to craft with me espically if it includes painting.
Even more georgous then scrapbook or other papers you would have purched. I don't know what it is there's just something about crafts made from scratch all the little bits and pieces brings it to life. You are so good at this. I wish I could just come and hang out with you once a week to crafts and visit. You are so perky you make me feel happy every time I see you or listen to one of your videos.TFS!! 🌰XO❤XO🎃XO❤🍁
Your voice sounds just like My friend from Texas.I enjoy listening to you and I really needed to watch this today, because I've been very depressed lately about my job and all the demented rules placed on us that make it difficult to function.I've been a collage maker for decades, but havn't made much time to work on it lately. You have inspired me.Thank you!😘
Kristina Mullen I send you a BIG CYBER HUG! -art really has also helped me pull myself out of that dark pit we all fall into now and then but especially now in Covid 19 World. And Shannon is such a wonderful, spirit-lifting help! 💕😇💕
How fun is this?!?! I had to laugh when you said "less isn't more and more isn't more either"-- I totally get that. Thanks for sharing your creativity.
Your generous gift of reaching out to us and sharing your joyful talent is such a precious gift in the crazy-mixed-up world we all face today. 🥇💕🏆 I send tons of loving thanks! 🥰🥳🥰
Well you are a woman after my own heart! I just love how you keep going and going..... and going...... until there is no room for anything else on the page! Way too much fun ❤️❤️❤️
I love this so much. It is very comforting to use your scraps and to collage them into one large piece. A very Zen process. Yours turned out beautiful. The colours are very vibrant against each other and I love that!
I sure do love this! I have a bunch of scraps plus scrapbook paper I don’t care for and tons of cardboard boxes. What a great idea to use them up. I love how your tiles turned out and watching the process was super inspiring. Thanks so much for sharing!
I remember when we did this in art school. We used tempera paint. The idea was to find some kind of pattern. Repetition. I think its a great idea to use scrap and trash. I try to do that as well, because i dislike throwing stuff. I like sustainability.
I hate when people ask what I'm going to do with something? Why can't they understand that its just for fun?I don't know if you can break through the mental brick walls that so many have.I work with dementia patients, and some just enjoy, but some have to have an end "product".
Hi Shannon, I have just discovered your youtube channel and I am binge watching your videos. Love the journals for no reason other than having fun. I am trying to silence the voice on my shoulder which tells me the stuff I make have to "mean" something. These scrap art tiles are great. Now I know why I have been saving all those little pieces! Thanks, I learn a lot with your videos. Hugs from the Netherlands.
I'm sure I'll get even more great ideas as you go along, but using that napkin to tie things together is probably going to save a stack of almost done collages I have sitting around... thanks!!... oh, just watched some more - that's gorgeous!!
Gluing is relaxing. Great pieces to add to alot of stuff. Wouldn't it look great to tile one of those inexpensive wooden boxes or either a paper mache box? Gluing is my chill pill as is peeling the glue off my fingers afterwards. Lol
Thanks it was fun seeing it come together. I don't know if I could cut it up. What do you do with the tiles that you cut up?thank you for all of the videos that you make and share. 👍🏻👏🏻❤️
I really loved watching this. What do you suggest to cut it into Art tiles etc with if using a cereal box? Is paper trimmer strong enough or should I use scissors? If I use scrap book paper as the base and with the layers of scrap perhaps paper trimmer is not strong enough too?
I would probably use a rotary cutter with a ruler on a cutting mat. Most likely a paper trimmer would give you problems with all the layers. I usually prefer a rotary cutter over an exacto knife because it's much easier to lean into the rotary cutter to apply more pressure for thick stuff.
Love this! I got my journal covers and put a video on my channel for you. I'm not sure how to tag you in it. I LOVE my ❤️SG tag that was included! Ive got my own celebrity autograph and handmade item!!! 😍😍 I showed my husband and he was not impressed. 😂 Thanks for sharing your creative journey!
My husband isn't very impressed with me either! LOL I just watched your video and I sure do appreciate all your kind words! I'm so glad you like your Custom Keepers and hope you have fun with them!
Hi! I just saw this video, & it looks way too fun!! I was wondering if Elmer"s School Glue would work for this. If so, would you dilute it the same way? I have a lot of it, & I want to use it up on something, Thank you for your awesome videos. I can't wait to start doing many of your ideas. I just LOVE what you do!!
i do love how creative you are with bits and pieces :) i've been watching some videos lately that made me think of you. have you run into the acrylic pour videos where an artist mixes some kind of catalyst into the paint (sometimes like window cleaner or whatever) and then gets these amazing color swirls on their canvas? the "planned randomness" of them reminded me of you and your various bits 'n pieces :)
oooh yeah I have been watching some pours too. I haven't done one of those in a few years and never like what you can achieve now. Can not wait to try all the different pouring techniques!! I totally see that in your work too shannon.

OH those are great ideas! I actually sewed a few of these together the other day but can't decide what to do with them...yet ;)

Thank you!
Thanks it was fun seeing it come together. I don't know if I could cut it up. What do you do with the tiles that you cut up?thank you for all of the videos that you make and share. 👍🏻👏🏻❤️
They can be used in mosaics but I give mine away as little art tiles...like an ATC.
I really loved watching this. What do you suggest to cut it into Art tiles etc with if using a cereal box? Is paper trimmer strong enough or should I use scissors? If I use scrap book paper as the base and with the layers of scrap perhaps paper trimmer is not strong enough too?

What does one use the tiles for?
What do you do them after you make them? Please share 😃
I give them away. Most of them I gave as gifts to everyone who purchased something from my Etsy shop.
Please share what glue you use? I enjoy all of your videos! thank you!
In this video I used Elmers Glue that had been slightly watered down....maybe 4 parts glue to 1 part water.
It’s almost midnight, and I have to go to sleep, but tomorrow I’m doing this!
Go for it!
Looks great, Shannon! My collage treasure box is empty after my big clear out.
Thanks for watching Ros!
It is a beautiful mess! I love it! What kind of brush did you use? Thank you so much.
It's a stipple brush or a glue brush used for bookbinding. You might be able to find something similar at Dick Blick.
It will work and to dilute or not dilute is totally up to you. I find if I dilute it just a tad it's easier to spread.
Did you seal it with anything or is it unnecessary?
I did seal mine with a thin coat of Mod Podge...it's optional but it does give the tiles a nice finish.
What do you do with the tiles after you get them made?
I give most of them away.
Shannon, i make my tiles from toilet paper, then paint on a design. i should do this also. thanks for sharing. VERONICA
Oh that's very cool Veronica!
i do love how creative you are with bits and pieces :) i've been watching some videos lately that made me think of you. have you run into the acrylic pour videos where an artist mixes some kind of catalyst into the paint (sometimes like window cleaner or whatever) and then gets these amazing color swirls on their canvas? the "planned randomness" of them reminded me of you and your various bits 'n pieces :)

I love watching those pouring videos! I haven't tried it for myself but it's on my list for "someday". :)
i think i asked you this already ... what kind of brush is that?
It's a hog hair stipple brush that you can find in my Etsy shop here: www.etsy.com/shop/byShannonGreen
It could actual be used for an album because it already has a built in spine with the front and back cover all in one piece or even a junk journal.
Definitely!

Thank you for watching!
If you lightly sand plastic coating on box it will use less glue, time and will stick better.
THanks for watching!
Beautiful!!!!! What will your top coat be
Matte finish Mod Podge.
🙂
yes a darn fine mess!
The best kind!
Came out great , you can't beat peeling glue off our hands lol
Gluey hands are just the best!
