Not often people come across as genuinely nice on UA-cam but Calvin seems like a proper sound bloke.
This guys smart. Literally has the guy recorded on camera saying theres nothing wrong with it. Then if there is something wrong with it, then boom! Hes done.
It’s interesting. Many people will hide things or slightly misdescribe a car. Asked Calvin’s direct question, if he knows that X is broken, there’ll be a “tell” on many people.

I have an A45 AMG and it is one of the best cars I have ever owned as is so blinking quick with the 4Matic system.
Its not leather, its Artico. Its just plastic. It dries out and cracks. My A45 did the same. Thats a pre-facelift and so the one with the most issues. Mostly the DCT gearbox which likes to lunch itself.
Facelift has more issues with gearbox

@@Neil2022 if the owner decided not to go through his insurance and also insurance companies aren't obliged to record any accidents or repairs on Miaftr database which the likes of car vertical get information from, 80,000 vehicles a year written off aren't recorded.
The A45 sounds so much better than the new A35. It’s as if Mercedes sanitised it in my opinion.
Give me an A45 over an A35 any day of the week !
Nice looking cars but as soon as I see one the first thought that comes to mind is that it's been absolutely thrashed.... Looking forward to seeing it tidied up and a new home.
ye i have one and spent a while looking for a stock one with transmission service and generally looked after. no way would i get a mapped one or one with the chavy aero kit

Very nice car for the mileage. Those hand-built A45 engines are pretty much bulletproof due to the rigorous testing they go through, so it should be good for a load more miles yet 👍😊

Double check the body kit see if it's stamped on inside each bumper and skirts boot spoiler and back bumper different grey or new paint
Crazy how the leather is so damaged on a new car. My 1998 323i is immaculate with no cracks.

Unless you’re buying a car with warranty (if it’s worth the paper it’s written on) or there is a money back guarantee incase of failures etc. then fair enough, if you’re buying private/ trade to trade… then you’re on your own - do your own checks no matter what don’t depend on a seller who stands to make a gain on selling you the vehicle.
how do you check if the warranty is worth it
@@t8506 request the dealer to give you the fine print/ terms and conditions of the warranty, most warranty companies will do everything in their power to blame you for an issue instead of covering it themselves.
Need to be careful with the gearboxes on these, I had one were the gearbox would grind when put in reverse, however it only done it when it was cold, if you are looking at getting one make sure you check when the car is cold
Thinner oil and/or moly additive 👍
You should check the wastage rattle flapper it’s common to go on them which would loose heaps of power very common when fixed response would be better than new
On a 14 reg it's 355bhp 375 didn't come until 2016 I believe
Sounds like it has the performance exhaust and has the tips with the slot in the middle which usually comes with the performance exhaust but not listed on the options list 🤷🏻♂️ also the upgraded gear knob comes with the performance steering wheel option with alcantara

Someone's had the steering wheel airbag out, can see they've punctured the holes at 22:40
No AMG sports exhaust, No Alcantara steering wheel but it does have heated seats! - Make sure the Service B had been done probably twice with that mileage as when I bought mine they said it had been serviced but just basic oil and filters no Gearbox/Diff service! - silly me.
Calvin, do you not have a OBD Scanner tool? Plug in Scan & see if it is Seat Belt Tensioner, or any other Nasties appear.

he had that carly thing you plug in but you would want a professional one like the garages use. not sure how long they take to read the ECU though but I would think that would be a must in this game
I believe the ford was the new Ford focus st looking at the lights, looks like a good car, 2.5 engine same as the rs but tuned to 280 instead of 320.
The stock exhausts on these cars are insanely loud, I had the exact same reaction in my mates A45, couldn't believe that it was factory.
Used car warranties even from main dealers can be very restrictive, Audi being one of them. Brakes plus AC NOT normally covered and sometimes bad touch up resprays common on front bumpers especially if ex lease or fleet cars. A45 a nice car but aero kit a bit boy racer looking and it's a pity Mercedes didn't do wider arches for a more aggressive look with a better front bumper and nicer rear spoiler add on. I do like the grey colour and the alloys but grey or black calipers would have looked better. A45 service costs are huge with a major service at around £1000.
A45's shout look at me where as Audi RS3 more stealthy.
This is the pre facelift car with 355bhp. The later facelift had 376bhp.
The gear knob and some other styling stuff changes pn the 2015> on models i had a 14reg one myself. Plus the 14 was 361bhp the 15s where up to 376bhp

I was desperate for a car brought a corsa the guy in the garage said there was nothing wrong with it wouldn’t let me test drive it he took me for a spin seemed ok and he made me sign a disclaimer on the way home it dangerously pulled right when braking abs was broke costing 450£ and back door wouldn’t lock headlight out surely with a brand new mot these should of been picked up?

i bought a vw sold as seen which itest drove and was impressed with . what I was not told was it needed a new engine and catalytic convertor to pass the mot. i should have sued him for selling me a potential fire hazard. hope this works out for ya.
How can a second hand car dealer know if a car has had a stage 1 remap? Even a tuner would have to some investigation to see if it had

Got a Audi A6 2015 from dealer in Derby, the car needs a new steering rack, went to Audi and that's what they said, I let the dealer know, show him the video from Audi, and he said that he's not gonna pay 3k to repair it. Told him I will take him to the court and now he is gonna fix it.

I’ve never understood how Mercedes have got away with claiming their seats are leather, I’ve owned two and both claimed to be leather but it’s not it’s plastic, but no one ever questions it ? Master stroke from merc I suppose 😂
I used to be in the furniture trade . It’s called bonded hide. The top surface is a mixture of ground leather upholstery off cuts and PVC . It’s allowed to be called leather as there is a leather content.
The top surface becomes brittle due to use , conditions etc. it cracks and exposes the white base cloth. It’s not repairable and has to be replaced.
I can’t believe a quality manufacturer would use bonded hide as durability is so poor. Penny pinching as usual.

It’s part of the informal economy. One of those jobs that almost anyone could do, but with variable skill. Most of Calvin’s channel uses in car recordings on his own, using a mobile phone. I don’t know what device the outside guy was using. Might be the same.
