2. The launch control on RS3 wasnt even a launch control...
i think this one is the 2015 post facelifted A45 which had both pwer & torque increased from 360 hp & 450 Nm to 381 hp & 475Nm.

@@davidcohen2137 there will be no M1, or 1M for that matter. The entire 1-series is now based on the same FWD platform as Mini cars, and it is impossible to put anything apart from inline-4 in it. So, that being said, m135 is going to be the fastest 1-series we'll see. At leas for this generation. Additionally a real 1M got replaced when M2 was released. Unfortunately for us, car guys, BMW parted ways with its' heritage and went all-in with marketing and sales.

I believe he deliberately picked that red pre-facelift a45 without aero pack to make the new a45s stand out, plus that old a45 seems to be in really bad shape... Taking into account the condition of brake pad, tyres, condition of the car, 4.8s isn't fair at all...
If he picked the facelift a45, that'd be a different story, the facelift should be able to do 4.2s, not to forget he mentioned he tested the facelift a45 in 4s dead when it came out years ago so I guess it's all about marketing. When a newer model comes out, they'll just make the old one looks as bad as possible...
I know the a45s is bit faster than the old stock facelift a45 but in my opinion the old a45 sounds way better....
Handson Hui so true, couldn’t agree with you more. The new A45s is about 20% dearer than the facelift 2016 A45. MB is trying to justify that by making the 45s look heaps superior than the fl A45. Tbh £50k is a bit too much of a price to pay for this car.

WTF mate I am an owner of a facelift a45 AMG 2018 "0-60 in 4s flat" an I can say it is much faster than the version 1 that he picked from 2013. I am really disappointed with the comparison you should compare it with a 2018 facelift instead with the old 2013 model I am sorry you earned dislike for it. 4.2 in the RS3? that’s embarrassing Matt. Mine does 3.7 all day every day on every run. Literally no RS3 takes over 4 seconds. Something was wrong there. Can’t wait for the proper drag video where we can see the RS3 pull easily on the new A45s.

Had the previous gen facelift A 45. Sound was incredible. You could hear one start from a long way. New one has better performance figures but lacks the AMG grunt.
I prefer the Rs3 over all sporty hatchbacks... Just because oft the glorious 5 cyl engine sound !
Beats all the other hot hatches because of the engine, everything else has 4 cylinders :(

Sponsored may be a bit far, but there has been thousands of real world RS3's timed to 60, they are all 3.7 to 3.9. At worst the RS3's is equally as fast. The inevitable 1/4 mile times will show it
Not taking credit away for this new a45s it is rapid what a car and does have more power but the rs3 is known for a rapid launch and the launch in this video wasn't really even launch at all.
Matt did 3.7 sec in RS3 some time ago, RS3 is faster than new A45s. It's funny how this video favours A45s, PFL A45 is 0.5 sec slower than 381hp facelift version. It would be closer in this video. 3.9 vs 4.1-4.2.

Plus it starts life as entry level hatchback without super lightweight construction and exotic materials in mind. Mercedes could give them exotic material to reduce weight but the price will be astronomical like renault megane rs trophy.
Guys the Pre-Facelift A45 does have 355 BHP / 360 PS. To everybody saying it has 367 BHP/372PS or 367PS/362BHP in the comments section it doesn't have that FFS 🤯.

In the old A45, you have done 0 to 60 in 4.0 secs before, meaning that the new car is only 0.1 sec faster. Also, merc quote that it does 4.2 sec on the old model, so you probably had a bad launch

Interesting figures. You must have been testing a fairly recent A45. Earlier models (3 yo) would do 0-60 in 4.2 s. The failing was that at low revs in comfort setting the engine would be a bit flat say when pulling out onto a roundabout. Clearly the turbo hadn't spooled enough at that point. Looking forward to test driving the new version in due course.

ive had my a 45 about 2 months now, i read lots of comments saying people find to boring on the road mainly on the ford st pages on facebook! i have to admit coming from an st i didn't think it was as fun for a few weeks then i discovered that you can drive these cars so hard and they just stick to the road like glue, thing about a car like an st you can floor it everywhere and get nowhere but with a car like this you floor it and you're in paris.... having a car this fast you must respect it tho. i often over take a few cars and find myself way up above 100mph its just suprising how fast cars can be.. that you're allowed to drive on public roads ! a45 for the win!

Really fast cars, but if you buy the old m140i Xdrive, you get a straight 6 and it does 0-100 KM/h in 4.1 same as the new a45s. So why get the Merc when you can get a straight 6 BMW.

that launch with the RS3 was horrible. The car was rolling before it took off. There have been numerous people who have obtained 0-62 in 3.7.38 seconds
My 2018 RS3 (not fully broken in yet) has done 0-62 in 3.79 so far (0-60 in around 3.6?) , on normal tarmac. The worst it has ever done is 3.95, so there's something wrong with the one in this video. Unless the 2019 is that much slower, but I doubt it. The Mercedes and the RS3 will probably be quite evenly matched in a 1/4 mile race.

Matt you didn't use launch control in the RS3. You held the stability to "off" - This isn't launch control. Launch control is by having stability pressed briefly to "Sport" position. As an owner I know the car regularly beats that time in the rain...
