im seeing a lot of these young engineers using the same mix template with all the eq moves and plugins inserted. all amateur hour bs too. stuff like xnoise on the mix bus. i use a blank session every time.
hope this gives you a little clarity... its as simple as effective & cost-efficient . personally working in the industry 90% of the time the tracks/songs provided by the Artist /Label you did not Track/Record yourself & sometimes the record isn't Tracked properly or without any hardware at all. Most young & up coming engineers etc don't have access or simply cant afford hardware & no one should put their career on hold or give up because they dont have the industry standard gear, when its already been proven you can achieve very close to the same sound without hardware ,as well as time is money and labels waste none. lets say if your gear is in LA & your in a entire different state Tracking & Mixing for a another project that also has a dead line mostlikey 1-5 days and if you cant fufill it within that time with the same quality they will drop you quicker than a fly and find someone else ,so by then you would've lost out on so much ,Flights ,hotels, sessions, time etc.times have changed and they dont care how you get it done as long as it gets done and if you want the opportunity an excuse for not having something isn't going to cut it.
now if your in the position to where you have at least industry standard hardware & you don't even have to leave your personal setup/studio and still achieve major placement opportunity's man imagine how many mixes you can push out per week while on cruise control or have other engineers finish your work while you take off for 3 weeks and still get credited and paid id say thats most engineers dream
@@gabrielthesingingpilot not the only mic I have. Is one I use most but I went years using a SM7B with cloud lifer. 87 is an industry standard in my genre.
If you think the Neumann U87 is "garbage", it's safe to say that every person on this planet who has an inkling of self respect should probably ignore literally everything you have to say about recording music. Yikes, man.
