brewmaster isn't good. you're going to get about 10 physical power from drinking the ale, which will increase your damage by about 10%. for example, with a green morning star, you'll deal about 40 damage per swing to another player in medium gear. 40 becomes 44, and the total swings to kill probably won't change. meanwhile, perseverance and protection from evil have significant impacts in the ranger, rogue, warlock, and barbarian matchups. there are a lot of very lethal abilities and effects that tick many times over a set period of time, and the 50% duration reduction + 3 point per tick reductions can completely overturn cleric's disadvantage against these annoying classes by mitigating these abilities
This is a bit dated, but alot of stuff is still the same. I don't have an updated guide out. my most recent cleric video shows my build set-up I've been using if that helps.
Skill beats gear? I beg to differ, allthough this is an extreme example I was on goblin caves and fought someone with full ruby gear a cape, and purple weapons with 4 perks. I had two perks and junk gear. I feel like I outplayed Hum several times, and landed almost all perfwct hits. I baited him into enemies and sniped him off I did basically everything right but after a solid minute and a half of combat he head shots me and one-taps me with a sword that likes twice the damage as mine. I know thats an extreme explain but it happened. And i wont say that its a bad thing simce if i had win that fight i would have the best loot in thr game by far.
That sucks. You obviously did well enough to win if you hit multiple headshots before he even hit one on you once. Gear needs a bit of a nerf, but not enough to make you feel unrewarded for running it, if that makes sense. As it is now if you have giga gear + a unique weapon you can solo wipe half the lobby in trio HR if you play well and don't get unlucky, depending on class and player skill. Like in Repoze's solo geared rogue series from a playtest, he was so geared and had the viola rapier that he was 2 and 3 shotting almost everyone, assuming they were full health.

I started taking EQ over divine strike. The 5 damage weapon spell. Seems pretty good to me.

You might be right here. I've been torn on which I think is worth it.
I have been playing ranger and now I want to try cleric. Is this the most up to date guide from you? Is there a better one that would suit me?
