Great hearing your experience, which was almost exactly the same as mine on the day. The irritation with the queuing and the prices - all the prices in the shop were shown EX VAT - the John Peel was £35 + VAT so £42. The camaraderie in the queue and the fun of chatting with like-minded people for hours. The anticipation when we twigged what was going on up on that balcony. The utter joy at the gig itself. I joined the queue at about 8:40 and the time stamp on my receipt is 14:32, so you can't have been far from me. And that was my 22nd time seeing him live, so you're not far from me there either :-)

@@welcometomusic8379 Yes, the words "obsessive" and "restraining order" are sometimes used! But I always explain two things to them. First of all, that total is 8 x White Stripes, 7 x Raconteurs, 1 x Dead Weather, 6 x Jack White. Secondly, how different all the gigs are - on the Get Behind Me Satan tour, I saw the WS three nights in a row and it was a totally different set list and show each night.

Great little recap to what was an absolutely amazing day. I was there too and was likely near to you in line as we got in the store at around 2ish after queuing from 9am. Spent waaaay more than I bargained for! We hot-footed it down to The Social straight after the balcony show for the after party not really expecting him to show up but he did a little later in the evening - not to play but was casually having a drink upstairs (with Olivia and the Bens and others). I was going to play it cool and walk past but just had to say hi or I would've regretted it. He was gracious and friendly, said he loves London and will be back often. I've been back to the store twice since (I'm not far away) and most of the stock they had on opening day was gone and had not been yet replenished so that table looked a little sparse, probably just as well for my pocket!
JW is just a businessman now and even has the appearance of one. He's ventured into interior design, etc and looks poncy. He's more entrepreneur and less musician.
He consistently puts out top notch music and tours very often plus does all the extra stuff. You must remember that he was in Upholstery before he made it big in music, i think it's good that he's managing to those things as well as the music. One of the hardest working people in the industry.

Brad Pitt is into architecture, but he focuses on his acting and does not offer himself up as an unqualified architect for hire.It's very strange.
