Learnt a lot from this one - sounds like Mr Condal is mainly focusing on Dance then handing over the show to another writer for another era (unless hes keeping another era under wraps). Also finish things in an unexpected way? Hmm… lets hope it’s better delivered than the last time GoT tried to be unexpected! I have hopes. HotD is the best thing on tv right now imo, so I really hope the quality continues!
There is another Duncan & Egg adaption on the way too, which would be set between the two shows (if I’m not mistaken, have that book but not read it yet). So I’m guessing/hoping they’ll set that story up a bit as a tiny backdoor pilot kind of thing on this show - but anyone who has read Fire & Blood kind of know the end of this era. So it’s going to be interesting to see what they do to make that as big as they can on tv! 👀 thanks a lot for your thoughts and leaving such a lovely comment too 🥰🙏🏻 it means a lot (and helps the clip to be noticed more!)
Somebody's answer me this question,why did they use the reighns of castemyer for the intro of house of the dragon? Shouldn't they have used the princes and the queen instead
@@badyoutuber1986 haha yeah, you’re probably right. Which is why I asked the question in this clip, not wanting a rushed ending again. But that song still do bring people back to a time when the old show was still pretty darn fantastic. And I’m again only guessing, there might be some other explanation here that’s the right one 🤷🏻♂️ what did you think about season 1-4 of the old show btw?
Other than the Melys busting through the floor moment, I loved season 1. It has been even better on rewatch. And I have read Fire and Blood now (had put that off in protest of Winds not being done) which has made me all the more happy with season 1 and excited for season 2. The first part of the Dance story felt more on the page. The actual war felt like it was more plot events but less intimate details. So there will be more opportunities for what seems like a fantastic writing team to build it out with GRRM and complete the story. I’m very excited. A lot of their changes improved the characters - gave Viserys so much more depth and added more of the depth we get from Corlys later into his earlier portrayal. I think Rhaenyra is a deeper character too and so is Allicent. Can’t wait to see how it starts tomorrow.
I like that he is discussing HOTD as anthology too. Seems like they have a Conquest show in the works. And Blackfyre rebellion as well as Robert’s Rebellion are both primed for great content. But this is definitely the most spectacular period because of how many dragons are around in this war. And we need second half of Fire and Blood for the latter two shows. With GRRM needing to finish Winds, several more Dunk and Egg, and I’d like him to at least make a good faith effort at Dream before another author finishes it for him.

@@peteperkins3859 that's not true. Yes, the book is told as history with unreliable narration. They don't know exactly what happened. But I think they would notice if a dragon burst through the floor of the DragonPit, destroying it and the coronation ceremony. That would make it into the history books. It might even be the most discussed aspect of the entire Dance of Dragons by the common people because the most common people actually died. Do you think something like that happening during an inauguration would get lost to history? The show has followed the sequence of the book very closely with some changes to characters (both Allicent and Rhaenyra are more sympathetic in the show than in the books). But the plot elements are mirrored very well. That is too huge of a plot element to not be in the book. And it was such a stupid decision. Really the only change that has actually angered me watching it - felt like what D&D did in later seasons with a focus on explosive set pieces and not good writing and character.
is there chance that Rhaenyra Targaryen will survive and not get killed by aegon?That will ruin show that means one who deserve to sit on iron throne killed that shows evil win
I was hoping HotD was gonna be following the Targaryens through several parts of the dynasties. They have already changed cast with the time jump, just like The Crown did multiple times. It would make it possible to keep the series running as far as Robert's rebellion without any actors landing on the 1 million usd per episode pay list and the series could be in chronological order rather than having a collection of series that criss crosses in the overall story. It works right now, but just like Star Wars; too many separated teams working on the same franchise creates a very confusing narrative and might become too overwhelming to start watching. Too many chefs, simply put.
I really got that point! I do think it might be hard to have one creator stay on for that long though - meaning, if they’d change both actors and creators they’d basicly be a new series anyways even if they called it season 12 of HotD. So I’m down for one creator coming in and doing 4-5 great seasons and then passing the keys over to someone else doing their own thing on a different part of the timeline 😊 but still, a very valid point and thanks for sharing your thoughts and watching the video! 🙏🏻

Only the show and books don't live side by side. They're like live miles apart from each other.
