    I raided on Gunbreaker for Anabaseios Savage so I'd like to think I'm fairly knowledgeable about the job. That said, I'm very happy with these changes and not needing to spam Burst Strike. I know people are upset about the removal of damage on the dash but honestly this does make it easier to find ways to weave in mits during burst window tank busters (which happened a lot and I suspect will continue in Dawntrail...)
    EDIT: I would actually have liked it if they added a single new OGCD to replace the two Rough Divides, but overall I'm pretty pleased with what I can see, can't wait to try it in a few weeks!

    We gained Lionheart but lost Rough Divide... Why did they have to rob us of all having all 4 finally

      @@cd2340 you can do away with the dmg and just keep the animation instead. Nobody wants the dmg aspect tied to movement tools but god does it suck to have a generic thunderclap like clone for everyone

    I wouldn't consider gunbreaker becoming less busy during bursts as a win, since that's how I enjoyed it, but it might make it easier if they plan on making more tank busters during burst phases

    Wasn't Rough Divide's name a throwback to FF8? I wish they at least kept the name. Gonna miss that name. Why not change the name of Great Nebula to Orion, that way it seems clever instead of uncreative? Ready to Reign --> Reign of Beasts --> Noble Blood --> Lion Heart is just perfection, chef's kiss, and they don't even need cartridges either so you still have your 3 to spend after

    make bow shock a contiuation ability of sonic break for button blote.
    give lightning shot a continuation button just for coolness.
    give back rough divide animation with no damage, and get rid of that goofy ahh monk gap closer

    That Ready to Break button condensing is nice. Could always use more PvP style button condensation personally as a pad player. Thanks for the videos!

    Gunbreaker main here; not enough Continuation skills and Rough Divide can co-exist with Trajectory so long as they are not tied to sharing charges and I would rather have both Rough Divide and Trajectory under those conditions, and I can use Trajectory for target part members. Though Trajectory is going to be use to grief other player if can target other players... Also losing the flexibility on Sonic Break sucks and I would rather it and Bow Shock were 30 second cooldowns instead just so I can use them outside of burst windows, and new burst combo doesn't have enough flexibility to be used outside of the 2 minute burst window also hurts the job needlessly along with the Rough Divide change. Would also love to have Continuation to be readily available in ARR content because Level Sync sucks ASS.

      Realistically since you'd never use Sonic Break outside of No Mercy anyway I'd argue that this change makes it more flexible. You can insert it anywhere in the No Mercy window because there's no cooldown to worry about.
      The whole point of the Lion Heart combo is to replace the 3 Burst Strikes you'd normally do in your 2 minute window. It means you don't have to have 3 cartridges going in anymore. You can go into your 2 minute with any number of cartridges and still do the same amount of damage. 3 cartridges = Gnashing Fang, then Double Down, then Bloodfest. 2 cartridges = Double Down then Bloodfest. 1 cartridge = Gnashing Fang then Bloodfest. 0 cartridges = Bloodfest immediately. In all of these scenarios you will still get Gnashing Fang, Double Down, and Lion Heart within No Mercy. This goes a long way to helping Gunbreaker with its downtime problems.
      Edit: Thinking about it that may cause some issues with Bloodfest drifting, but I'm sure there are ways to solve it. The only reason you would go into No Mercy with fewer than 3 cartridges is because of downtime, so that downtime may also just fix the drifting issue anyway depending on the fight. They could also just do what they did with Reassemble and knock 5 seconds off the cooldown.

      Every tank stole from each other for their heavy mit
      PLD: stole TBN
      WAR: Stole Knights Benediction (more accurately they stole Regen from WHM)
      GNB: Stole Thrill
      DRK: Stole Corundum/Excog

      @Evilman_520 it bugs me so much, I wish DRK TBN had PLD 40% 1k heal shields as DRK TBN LV82 trait it desperately didn't get like other 3 tanks at that level.

      @@HyouVizer yeah DRK and GNB were a little rough for the first few lvls of EW (GNB after 86 was cake). But that's the difference between them and the others: PLD and WAR have a ton of healing but DRK and GNB are almost impossible to hurt because their defensives are so strong.

      & in the older days, it is also similar to (but not exactly like) Warrior's passive for having tank stance on, except without the debuffs tanks had in those days. Warrior passively had 25% more HP than other tanks when they had tank stance on, so it's like seeing that come back in a limited form in a sense since this is tied to a defensive.

      Gunbreaker and Dark Knight have OGCD-heavy burst windows, so removing damage from their gap closers makes sense to remove some button mashing in burst windows. Paladin and Warrior remain dumb as rocks, so keep their dps gap closers.

      @@Khemrikhara I belonged to a different camp, whenever I enter the burst window I find oGCD way too slow and I keep on spamming the button. Besides they already consolidated the sonic break to no mercy. Pressing the gap closer is a non issue at that point.

      @@Khemrikhara Every gap close in this game should have been changed to do no damage. Gap close should be utility-based and not constantly fit into burst windows. So it's weird that they were inconsistent in this regard.

      @@Exponential_Entropy This I can get behind, was just explaining what I believe is why it changed this way in particular. From what I've seen, DT is an expac of changing AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE for most classes, so this tracks.

    Very happy with the changes overall. I play with high ping yet my love for this job makes me main it anyways, so the removal of the potency on the dash is huge, I prefer utility skills to be that, utility. Nice to see the changes help a little with button bloat even if GNB wasn't the most bloated job.
    Can't wait to try it out!

    Sounds like all of the tanks are getting overly complicated now and my hotbars are gonna get bloated again. Really wish they would, at the very least, give us PvP style combo buttons for all applicable moves.

    Weird to me is that gnb has the max HP on their 40% and warrior has the regen. You would think it is the other way around.

      It could be worse and it could be a generic heal that can't exceed max hp and only happens when you drop below 50% hp or the skill ends. That and it will probably heal for less than 20% max hp.

    As someone who LIKES the busyness of the No Mercy window, I am concerned. I legitimately feel like I am messing up whenever I run out of OGCDs to double-weave in between GCDs in the NM window, as it feels like that's just wasting time that could've been used for more damage. Losing Rough Divide, having the 3 Lionheart skills replace the 6 Burst Strike-Hypervelocity attacks... It's all small stuff overall, but it leaves me very much afraid that my enjoyment of my main is about to take a massive hit. But only time will tell, I guess... =\

    I like the changes, but a part of me is going to be bothered by the fact that every 2nd Bloodfest is going to put Reign Of Beasts outside of No Mercy.
    Definitely excited for it, though!

    ahh, beautiful. After playing around with GNB in UWU I’ve been wanting to play it in higher level content, but some bits of its kit at 90 made it hard to feel comfortable in. These changes look like exactly what I want out of the job! Might be dropping PLD for R1S for GNB.
    Overall intrigued with DT’s trend of replacing OGCD buffs with GCD follow ups, we’ll have to see how it flows and if I need to pull my buffs off of my second crossbar.

    The main source of rigidity in gnb rotation is double down, because it costs 2 carts and you also need 1 more cart for gnashing, you always want to enter your no mercy window with 3 carts. This wasn't the case in shadowbringers in which either 1 or 2 cart entries were viable. This results in any loss of uptime having a knock on effect on your rotation, as on 2.5 sks full uptime you just about get enough carts per minute to sustain it.
    DT changes don't address this in any way and unfortunately the job is going to be just as rigid as it is today. Cooldown usage in 2 minutes was never an issue this expansion, every fight you could just pop your cooldowns earlier and have them catch all they needed to catch.
    What's morbidly funny is that devs did something gunbraker mains actually wanted, and tied a 1 minute cooldown gcd to no mercy use similar to primal rend, except they did it to the wrong one. Instead of tying double down to no mercy use and making it not cost carts they tied sonic break to it, which literally no one who plays gunbreaker asked for. Replacing 3 burst strikes you used to have in 2 minute windows with a 3 hit combo does basically nothing to address gnb issues, yeah it's 3 fewer ogcds in burst, but that was never really the issue with the job.

      The bloodfest/lionheart change guarantees your 2 minutes burst window(3GF, 1DD, 1SB, 3LH) regardless of how many cartridges you have going into NM. It also means that you exit the the 2 min NM window with the same number of cartridges as you entered it with, which will make setting up 3 cartridges for the 1 minutes NM window a lot less tight than it was in EW.

    Ehhh, the animations on the combo are too floaty for my tastes. I get it that it's meant to be a homage to the old Squall animation but that kind of floatiness and "comic book cheesiness" fit that era much better than it does XIV.
