The most thing i adore about GNB is how the sound it makes whenever you are using a catridge. Also, GNB is my go-to tank whenever i get bored playing PLD.
I'm very happy that quite afew people make the connection between how Nero fights with Red queen and how Gunbreakers fight. It's probably the main reason I love the class so much honestly.
This is the class I have been looking forward to the most since I started playing about a month ago, so far I’m level 50 in the MSQ so I know I still have a bit to go, but I’m stoked to get this class
Totally agree on GNB’s Double Down being an amazing max level skill, especially vs DRK’s Shadowbringer. GNB is awesome for dungeon runs, solid sustain and it just unloads with its uncomplicated AoE, often being top dps on big pulls.
As a GNB main I love this class, the power and speed along with how even doing a proper rotation can lead to agro pull if you're not careful. As for the Cyrstaline Conflict thing; I find that Juction does make you pretty flexable and with the right backup your LB locks down an entire team if they're stubborn and want to keep on the crystal. (But I play casual PvP so what do I know?)
Gunbreaker is the class that made me like tanking. I had played Paladin and Dark Knight a little bit because I was told the class quests had a good story line (particularly DRK) but it didn,t really click and I mostly played dps. Then I reached level 60, unlocked GNB and one day when I was forced to take a pause from work because of a heavy depression, I used my free time to play ff and tried GNB. I immediately liked the gameplay and found myself playing it more and more. Then I unlocked continuation and oh my! that combo was so satisfying. GNB was the second class I maxed out and I did a good chunk of msq and raid content with it and I do not regret it.
I do not main tank, but I recently finished my SHB Resistance relic weapon for Gunbreaker. I have yet to regret it. I love the way this job plays. I main healer, but it is not uncommon for me to be asked to tank - and GNB is always my first pick.
A proud GNB main here ;A; - when i started the game and was a noob obviously started with an easy class (SMN) which I still love - but once I reached lvl 60 I chose the GNB as a tank - and loving it since :D I always need to defend it amongst my friends, cause they mock me, but I think it is still a fun playstyle c: - agreed on PVP though ^^" (also loved the DMC song references :D)
As soon as I've finished HW on freetrial, got Shadowbringers and preety much one tricked Gunbreaker every MSQs onward, to say that it's my favorite is an understatement
One thing I loved with gnb is how despite its busyness in rotation you still can easily insert each defensive cooldowns inbetween continuity. Prolly more smoother than DRKs strict double weaves.
For PVP, The Draw and Junction skill makes the gunbreaker more modular and flexible. Need to help heal the team and keep them going? Use it on a healer enemy and you can spread healing around with Aurora and your OGCD skills. Need some more sustain? Tank Junction gives you a damage reduction that also hits back at enemies who attack you AND your OGCD skills give you barrier. Need to just burst down the enemy? DPS junction gives you Blasting zone as an added OGCD damage skill and boosts the damage of your other skills.
I’ve tried all tanks but gunbreaker is my favorite I love how it feels like a dps yet being a tank also it’s a busy job can’t wait to unlock lvl 82 skill and double down at 90
Small note about PVP from a PVP nerd: GNB was awful on release. It's better now, but still lacks any actual tank abilities outside of its LB, which more often than not you get stunned out of. We have no answer to being mobbed unless there's a tank on the enemy team, no utility with regards to actually directing the flow of battle outside of hitting the right person and praying, and all of this is just in addition to our damage being laughably mediocre compared to any actual DPS job even with that junction. I've got a lot of issues with relying on the enemy team for what abilities I can use, too: if there's nothing but DPS on the enemy team I'm forced to play like a DPS, which is so ass backwards. I'd need the tank junction to survive longer, right? It just doesn't feel good to play unless you're an off tank, and even then I feel like a glorified blue DPS without any of the actual good parts of being a DPS. SAM, MNK, and NIN are better tanks because of their CC and still output ludicrous damage, all three of them have healing skills in addition to that, and all three of them have LBs that can't be easily interrupted and have massive, sudden, decisive impact when you use them properly. This small note turned into a bit of a rant and I do apologize, but man...being a GNB main since I started only a couple years ago feels bad, especially when I've been in the PVP crowd since well before the changes. Not that GNB was a master back then, but at least it had some use. I miss my baby T_T
This, I was so dissapointed in how they reworked GNB in PvP, it feels so bad and out of the meta even after the changes. It seems the devs could not properly apply the ideas that define the job into PvP. I mean look at the other tanks, WAR is a beastly force in the battlefield, PLD is highly defensive and durable, DRK plays with its own hp to deal damage. GNB can't seem to find its own identity and struggles because it's not fully a tank, nor a dps.
Desperius (2021) : Play GNB Viewer (2021) : Nah Desperius(2022) : I said play the F-ing Gun Breaker !!! Actually the reason I playing it is your last clip of GNB
I’m a lvl 85 DRG debating about switching to GNB. I’m new to MMO’s and I’ve old played MSQ’s so far. I’m still in endwalker, would now be a good time for a change or should I start a new character when I finish???
I used to dislike Gunbreakers as a sprout White Mage player, but once I moved on to playing all 4 healers I grew to like these guys. Warrior is super fun for me so far, but I might give this job a try since the glamours are kinda cool, ngl
I disagree with the double down point, due to its cost it forces you to hold onto your cartridges until a full burst window, making it much less freeform of a move than it could be and forcing gameplay down your throat. Also I don't know why in mama it has 2 dots, one ogcd and 1 gcd that interrupts your satisfying continuation bursts. All in all it to me feels like they cramped random stuff into it from the other 3 On the other hand defensively the job is amazing and feels truly complete and continuation by itself without the redundant ogcds is a very cool gimmick. And aesthetics are pretty neat. Do I hate it? No, but it would never be my main especially the way it is in EW
As a healer main, I feel like GNB is the weakest of the tanks from a defensive/sustain point of view, even DRK feels a bit better now that living dead is nearly self sufficient... GNB is such a fight uphill to heal in dungeons
From the point you get Heart of Corundum the only tank that may want a healer for dungeons is DRK and even on DRK you're pretty selfsustaining since the LD-change.
Hell no, GNB's sustain is insanely good compared to DRK, GNB's HoC shits on every defensive skill DRK has. Aurora, super bolide and HoC is way too good, DRK needs more love in the tank department, especially on TBN cause it just sucks outside of tank busters.
most gunbreakers that u run into problems healing are probably not using their mits efficiently / not using aurora(later heart of corundum). i myself find it easier tbh to sustain on gnb than drk.
A huge missconception about the cartridge combo that many people don't realise, and I certainly didn't until someone told me myself: The ONLY thing that breaks your cartridge combo is your standard combo. You can use double down, burst strike and the DoT GCD during your cartridge combo, and then continue it.
FFVIII top 5 ever??? I mean for half the game yes ...after that the final 2 disk were ... slow, disappointing especially after the Gardens fight. I used to play up to Garden fight then reset shortly after because after that amazing point the game fell off
First reason squall second thancred third lighting fourth double down fifth lv80 af gear
And at lvl90 it looks even better
Lightning is the best ff character to ever final Fantasy
so true

GNB on pvp is a DPS-rol flex. Its a excelent choice to go all round but the worst on be THE BEST on that round
I never tanked b4 I started playing this job. Definitely my favorite of the 4 tank jobs
Sadly Thancred never found himself a Witch, but an Oracle will have to do I guess

You only need one reason and that's Squall
just randomly found this video and I main GNB. I also appreciate that you put in Pull My Devil Trigger because I love DMC and I Love Red Queen

....What is the glam at 7:22? I super need that armor.

I like that it plays like a DPS as well, I dont like that im doing DPS effort for tank damage. Dont you just love roles...
on my data center (crystal) gnb is played in CC by top 100 players, tho not many. I think it's low ult CD makes it a decent pick in the right hands

What helmet was on your dark knight in your last relic video?
The current tomestone fending helmet
The current tomestone fending helmet
How do you make your graphics look so good?
Aurora is ass at higher levels and what the weapon name at 0:32?
Correction about GNB in PoTD on EW: it is now the worst option as a tank for necromancer farming just because of f180 boss
Yes! My main job! Now waiting for the 5 reasons to Sage so I can have my pew pew trinity XD
5 reasons
1. gun
2. blade
3. trenchcoat
4. explosions
5. heart of corundum
great intro and video
Thank you !
As a healer main, I feel like GNB is the weakest of the tanks from a defensive/sustain point of view, even DRK feels a bit better now that living dead is nearly self sufficient... GNB is such a fight uphill to heal in dungeons

I HAVE NOW WARRIOR AND GUNBREAKER MAXED AND I CANNOT DECIDE BETWEEN THEM HELP SOMEONE PLEASEEEEEEE
My favorite job and tank
I play on a 20-30 fps toaster, and I find GNB really stressful when using continuation 😆
1 Reason why you should play GNB:
1.) It's cool as F*CK!!!
INTRO! 10/10
I love GNB i just wished we had a solid heal like Paladin. Regen is good but i prefer a heal just in case Healer goes down
I agree
@@easnas You agreed with yourself?
@@swampgurt lol that was meant for another comment

I'm still waiting for them to add raikokuten as a weapon skill
Seifer wasn’t mentioned. His abilities are in the game too.
I find it funny how the 80 set (aka Thancred's set) has a Seifer inspired coat but a Squall inspired gunblade, then the 90 set flips that around
Just started playing and with all of the tank showcase i don’t know what to get. I have War 75 for now lol
WAR is solid, go for it 👍
6th Reason: Superbolide trolling a friend who plays a healer for fun.
Called ff8 a great game. Instant maxed respect
1 reason why you shouldn't: warrior exists
Quick snap shot it so we can laugh that we don't have reasons to play healers
And plus it starts at lvl 60
I love gunbreaker to death but pvp as them is pain…
GNB gets bad looks when it comes to it's mitigation game... which it really shouldn't.
So what do you need to make your gunbreaker look like Squall ? Lol
FFVIII top 5 ever??? I mean for half the game yes ...after that the final 2 disk were ... slow, disappointing especially after the Gardens fight. I used to play up to Garden fight then reset shortly after because after that amazing point the game fell off
eh somehow all tank glamour really stuffy, not suit my style
