- In this video I'm learning and trying out which micro jigging techniques work for porgies and black sea bass off the long Island sound. So far a gentle lift and drop works for the particular jig I'm using.
Gears:
Rod - Hellbent 6'6 medium light inshore spinning rod
reel - Penn clash 2500
braided line 15 lbs grey
leader - 25 lbs fluoro

I do a lot of this micro jigging its a lot of fun and you can catch big fish doing it as well. Ive caught numerous(too many to count) striped bass in the 30-40 inch range on little 1 oz flutter jigs. I don't even bother with a hook on the bottom too snaggy that way. I just do a single assist hook tied with a little flash on the nose. The smaller fish will actually go after the flash tied on the assist hook and get hooked and the bigger fish just suck the whole jig down and get the assist hook that way.
I'm with you on micro jigs. They are so much fun! Thanks for checking out the channel
Love the video! I have never fished in NY before looks like a blast!
Thanks for support. Fishery in NY is not too bad. You should come down since you aren't too far. As of matter of fact, in the 3rd weeks of May, there is a huge fishing tournament in Jamaica bay with over hundreds of kayakers.
wow that sounds awesome!
Awesome channel, great work!
Thanks. just checking out more of your vids. Tight lines
Only right way to fish scup in my opinion. Ultralight rod and a 10 g jig and you've got a party! You'll even catch more than with a bottom rig.
Jig def is more fun for sure. Thanks for watching.
What hook size are the single sabiki hooks , and are you using braided line to tie up the top sabiki hook,,?
Is this the largest size jig porgy will bite? Do larger jigs work?
They go for bigger jigs, but I'm match the hatch sort of speak.
How do you only have 148 subscribers??? You have great videos!!!
Thank you watching. Not sure why only 148 but glad to have any subs to share my outings. cheers!
Well keep them coming. I enjoy your videos. If i had a garage to keep one of them setups like you I'd definitely want to own one.
Hey man! I really like your fishing video and I just started out micro jigging and I would like to know what is the best size and weight for micro jigging. I am planning to get a 20 grams, 7cm long Lot Laser jig lure. Is that the most ideal lure for micro jig? I am using a 20lb powerpro mainline with 20lb flouro leader. I fish from a rocky cliff and the water below is about 30ft at least. Really looking forward to your answer. Thanks!
Thanks for checking out the channel. It's recommended that 1 gram of weight equates 1 feet in water, so 20 gram should be able to use comfortably in 20 ft of water. There other variables like wind, current and the fish you are targeting - lazer jig is fine, jipara and some gomuku jigs are good too. I'll be putting out more micro jig/ slow jig videos when the weather allows me to go out. If you haven't , please sub for more vids. Your support is appreciated.
Thanks man! Ima give it a try!
really happy i found your cannel, if you ever upgrade to a gopro i think the quality would be vastly improved but regardless.... great content!
Thanks for the support. I wish I have a go pro. I also changed my editing software; hope the quality improves. Tight lines.

Gills-N-Thrills tight lines :)
just found your channel!! liked and subbed !
Thanks for the sub. I appreciate your support. I also subbed you back.
Nice work getting all those jumbo with no bait! What were you fishing on the rod in the holder?
Thank you for watching. Just trying out something different and see what work and what doesn't. I was drifting a bunker chunk - no taker.
Surprised you didn't get a sea Robin on the bunker.
I got similar type jigs from amazon. They have a 40g (1.4oz) diamond jigs that work well in deeper water. I believe the vrand is Aorace.
Thanks for all the great content! Tight lines this fall!
liked and sub, keep up the great videos!
Thank you for the sub. and i really appreciate the support. fish on!
Nice !!!
Thanks man. I just subbed your channel. I'd appreciate if you can support another small youtuber with a sub back? Much appreciated. Tight lines

+wangng1997 congrats. It works well and nor re-baiting. Hope you catch more keepers
Can you provide link to buy this jig?
I'll put a link in the description. Be sure to subscribe, I'll be reviewing and testing a bunch of jigs from micro to large for saltwater when i get a chance to get out. Stay tune.
Whats up bud. Saw your comment from one of my video. I just subbed back. Fish on!
Thanks for the sub back. Much appreciated. Tight lines
like , abraço
Does this attract bigger porgy?
Looks that way and its way more fun to jig for porgies. If you want big porgy like 15" plus size, I'd recommend using asian crab as bait and bigger hooks. Less fish but def. bigger.
Asian crab? Where do I do get? What does it looks like? Also what would you recommend hook size for the jig?
vsonic86 just flip over some rocks at low tide, you'll find a million of them. Free bait. Good for blackfish too.
Love the jigs just subbed back scup fishing is always fun
Thanks. Learning to slow jig this year. Can't wait to give it a go in the spring. I'll be following your channel.
Gills-N-Thrills the small daddy Mac jigs work wonders love using them when vertical jigging want to really get the scup going give two fast pops let it flutter to the botttom let it sit then rapidly pop it 5 times it usually triggers the jumbos for me
Gills-N-Thrills also try out the darter head jigs with the hair
I will def. give that and the daddy a look this year when scup fishing is here.
Will that work for fresh water as well? I'm getting more involve with the local ponds and lake this spring.
