I'm glad you mentioned Neon Abyss because it feels to me like they've got a really nice concept here just like that game, and similarly, some QoL changes(especially regarding the inventory! Could get rid of the inventory stat entirely and just have everybody get a nice inv size) would be very very welcome. A slide tackle as a dodge would definitely solve a lot of issues and fits the theme, as you said being able to ball control mid-air would be less realistic but I believe it would be a good change since it's a platformer and you have double(or more) jumps so you're spending a lot of time off the ground. I don't know if it's a thing already but they definitely should try implementing tricks, like a charged bicycle kick that makes the ball immediately have the biggest possible size and such, so you'd have passives, actives and balls+their items. A character or mechanic for attacks that don't use your ball(faults/tackles?). Enemies especially don't feel like they interact with the game mechanics as well as they could, I don't know how feasible it is but I'd like to see the devs try to design them more around the concept of a platformer soccer roguelike rather than just... beetle that walks.
That lazer boss, adding guns while also locking the switches to deactivate them is real rough. I think just adding more guns is enough without locked switches. Also for enemies that shoot lazers, it would be very nice to have a "warning beam" to see what you'd have to dodge.
It reminds of the pogo shooter rogue that came out recently. I had a blast beating that one. Just a cool concept with a few simple mechanics that take a little to master

I really enjoyed the Pokerogue videos, and you got me addicted to playing it, but I can see they are long runs for a series. Thanks Reto for another great introduction to a game!

Love this game. My favourite ball is the dice ball which rerolls its damage whenever it hits a wall.

This game reminds me of touhou 1 highly responsive to prayers. Its got a similar idea behind the ball as a weapon
