Love the videos. I got a 97 suburban with a 6.5 and the engine definitely needs some help. Do you have any good parts websites because my crossover tube corroded out and the bolts are stuck on the inlet exhaust side and I want to remove that manifold and replace it with a new one. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Take it easy
Quick question, I had a low mileage 2005 block acid dipped and magna fluxed. Would the acid mess up the oil filter bypass valve? Or did rock auto send me a low pressure pump or....... ? I found two stuck lifters so I unstuck em, cleaned the shut out of em, reassembled the engine with new bearings and I have close to zero oil pressure at idle. Already checked the gallery plugs, they were tight.
It sounds like you have the same issue most people have. Junk oil pumps out of the box. I don’t replace them unless I absolutely have to because there are tons of failures with new units. Also I would be looking at new lifters and making sure your bearing clearances are correct. These things are very picky about that.
@@gingersnapcustoms Thanks for the info. I did plastigauge the crank and rods, got a shop to install and fit piston bushings to my hardly used pins. I also just pulled the filter adapter a couple hrs ago and the bypass valve seems fine so only other issue it could have is the pump? Am I right or am I missing something?
@@bobbyboucher5309 you are correct. I can’t think of anything else internally other than cracking that would force pressure to zero other than the pump being bad if everything else is spot on.
I'll bring my A game for sure. Got all the power tools ready to role. Dark and early tomorrow morning!
Kinda funny. I'm doing the same job this weekend 😅. Headgaskets and new heads, if needed, on my suburban.
Seems like we are all holiday hotrodders!
@@gingersnapcustoms Yep, wouldn't have it any other way.

I use the KBDiesel cross overs on these and Leroy diesel/quadstar for performance parts.
