Repairing a Westinghouse Fridge that trips RCD

In this video we show how we found the fault, (a defrost heater element), confirmed that it was the element and replaced the defrost heater element on a Westinghouse WTM4200WB-L fridge feezer.
This is not a full how to video, we're just showing how we fixed it.
Always disconnect the fridge from the electricity before working on it

Your information on how to troubleshoot my white Westinghouse refrigerator was excellent and I was inform the technician what the problem might be, so he went straight to the area of the refrigerator with his multimeter,a trouble shoot and then was the problem.

Thank you Sean for sharing your video. I fixed my fridge because you cared to share. Cost was $63.83 for the defrost element. Time probably 2.25 hours. It was not at all fun to fix it though. At times I just wanted to give up. I am hoping to get another 13 years out of this last Australian made fridge. Thanks again and God bless.

Thank you so much! I have a Westinghouse WTM5204SB which is similar. It doesn't have a hole in the back panel. Fortunately I have a plastic car dash panel lever set. I used three levers at once inserted at the bottom and middle. It released at the middle, then I released the right then I levered forward the bottom.
As for compressor screw, mine has a deep hole which I think is to remove a whole section where the light is. I'm unsure how to remove it. My freezer fan stopped due to ice so I'm going to defrost the whole fridge/freezer in hope the heater will work when I restart the fridge. I might get a microscopic camera and see how I can take off the upper fridge panel (where the light is)?
I couldn't find the main PCB on this fridge. It's not down with the compressor. Additionally the cooling coils seem to be hidden behind a sheet metal section which I cannot work out how to remove? I'm guessing they don't require cleaning as they can't be accessed?

Does the fridge without defrost timer still shuts its motor off even if defrostor cable is disconnected?

Hi Shaun, I have a Westinghouse RJ522, which has identical freezer/fridge back panels like yours. My defrost timer is not working. That's the one that you used a screw driver to manually put the fridge into defrost mode. Would you mind show me how to remove the panels to replace the defrost timer please? Many thanks.
