I’m definitely going to use #1 and #3 depending on the class’ vibe and challenges! This was great - a lot of strategies out there aren’t helpful for secondary students when subbing… they can be quick to complain about being “treated like babies.” I’m always looking for ways to achieve my goal and demonstrate respect

I say, please wrap up your conversations and start counting down from 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1. This strategy easily works for me with my high schoolers.

I like using 1,2,3 eyes on me. Or use a hand clap that they repeat.
