How to Add YOUR Images to Stellarium

- In this video, we go over how to add your images to Stellarium. Stellarium is surprisingly customizable, and that includes swapping out the default images with ones you have taken. It's not as simple as dragging and dropping them in, you need to align the image so it shows up properly in the sky.
Astroquery install: pip install --pre --upgrade astroquery
^^^^Note: make sure there are no spaces between "--pre" and "--upgrade" when pasting into your terminal!

hi! For me not working. I got plackpoint error. I trying to put flying bat nebula but I used different pictures. not working. Do you have already the converted flying bat nebula for stellarium? or someone can send me please?

Amazon! I originally bought it as a tapestry for camping, but we stopped needing them, so it's now my backdrop :)
FYI if you are on a macOS Monterey (and assuming future releases) the directory is ~/Library/Application Support/Stellarium. You can also import the automator file into Shortcuts. Then, add to the Dock so you can drag and drop an image. Anaconda is not required if you have python setup.

I'm using Ventura and I cannot get the Stellarium_Nebulae_Image_Prep application to open. Any tips? I changed security to "anywhere" and no success.
Wow! It actually worked! I was a bit hesitant to give it a go since it seemed like a long video at 21 minutes, but it was so worth it. I just did a test with one image of mine but now I can see myself going back and doing it with quite a few of my images. Thanks for the tutorial! NGC6946 btw was my test.
Nice galaxy choice! I think it would be a neat project for everyone as they take photos to add their images to Stellarium, take screenshots, and see how it changes through the years. Glad this helped, Greg.
