Transmission fluid also is great on wood trailer boards. I learned this trick from a national park ranger. Spray the wood with a mix of diesel fuel and transmission fluid, let it dry for a few days and boom, wood is basically sealed and will last for years

Does it add color?
,another amazing wood preserver/ hardener is the toxic (pink)kind of antifreeze. It actually bonds wuth the wood fibers.

I heard something similar to this works well to loose rusty bolts. Use 50% real acetone and 50% ATF (automatic trans fluid)
Thank you for watching and sharing, we appreciate it my friend. Have a great day. mad Mike the hammer SPC
It is great. Only thing is the acetone will evaporate if not in a sealed container. Best penetrating fluid that I have found.

I can vouch for the power of ATF because my old Mustang had a transmission leak on the right side and it would run down and get on the bottom of the floor pans. And those floor pans still look like new where the ATF sat on them and soaked in.
Nice! Thanks for watching and sharing Mark, we really appreciate it. Have a great day. mad Mike the hammer SPC
Any kind of oil mixed with the road dirt will prevent rust well; cars that have engine oil leaks never rust on that side, or on all sides if it's the oil pan gasket, had a Camaro like that, needed half a quart every 300 miles.
I had same thing with an old 1990 K 2500 GMC . Had tiny rust through on a tranny plug . It just let a tiny mist flow back making me add a quart every couple months. I got it in 2005+- and it had been like that a while prior surely. From the leak area back it looked like it just rolled off the assembly line ! This is in Northern NY salt mine Rustbelt. The paint was perfect ! ATF is the greatest even on rusty old cars and mixed 50/50 with Acetone it’s all I’ve used for 20 years on rusty bolts. Keep it in an old spray bottle hanging on the shelf it’s better than commercial stuff nd almost free👍🏻
Dawn (most dish soap/liquid detergent) is a excellent surfactant. Makes the chemical wetter, tends to cover more area. We put soap in weed killer when spraying the pastures.
Yes it's good, thanks for sharing and watching mr good times :) Hope you have a great day. mad Mike the hammer SPC
Spraying poison in pastures?? Where our food animals eat? Please explain why that is a healthy smart idea? I must be missing something? Do you work for Monsanto?
@@seeer3240 it's called 2-4-D look it up. And I'm pretty sure your animals don't eat on these pastures.
@@seeer3240 If you do not kill weeds on pasture land the weeds kill out the grass. The live stock cannot eat some types of weeds so they will have less food to eat each year.

Thanks for the great video!! I have just one question: What is this thing called Blaster? Sorry, wrong question. My real question is: Is this spray just for surface rust? Ok one more question: Should the rusty area be hit with a wire brush to remove scale and/or paint bubbles to allow the fluid to reach all areas? Thanks in advance for your responses. Thanks for making great instructional videos!!
You answered your own question, perfectly, yes, it needs to be touching the rust, so a wire brush is an excellent way to remove those scales/bubbles. Thank you so much for watching, we appreciate it. Hope you have a great evening my friend. mad Mike the hammer SPC
bought an older Western Star semi. Been driven up north where the road salts roam and there's a lot of scale rust. It's not the $$ savings I'm as concerned with as what will stop the rust best. I can't take it apart to get into every creavas but I do have one of those air sprayers. But can i paint over it later? Seems not so much cuz paint don't stick to oil.
seems there's room for a what comes next video.
To stop the rust from getting worse before you can paint it, use this amzn.to/471rj4i then once painted, use the rust killer in the video my friend. Hope this helps, have a great day. mad Mike & team
When I was a kid somebody told me how they did it back then. Way back then. They would use a sprayer and spray the entire under carriage with transmission fluid. And then drive down a Dusty Clay Road. Really fast. And that would coat all of the transmission fluid and hold it in place. Poorman rustproofing right there
Thank you for watching and sharing, have a great day. mad Mike the hammer SPC
The dish soap works because it breaks the surface tension allowing the fluid to lay flat and not bead up... works for almost anything you want to spray for coverage... even homemade herbicides like vinegar and salt... add dish soap and it keeps the solution from 'beading up'
Thanks for the info! Hope you have a great day! mad Mike the hammer SPC
It's like flux for solder. Break the tension and allow it to pool

@@SweetProjectCars No. I was hoping YOU would post a follow-up video in a year or so showing how well your rust killer held up.
If this works so well how did it get that bad in the first place? Any follow up video? Thanks in advance!
Looked like that locktite was painting it black also ..!!!!!! Is it just my imagination ??
No it goes on crystal clear thanks for asking my friend

Pretty sure the blaster is diesel fuel i use it to uncease small engines and clean parts it penetrates rust really well and it also used to be used on logging roads and those trucks never had any rust.

@@SweetProjectCars if that brand name isn't available locally, would Liquid wrench work as well?
I still couldn't find out what that stuff is you call blaster. All I heard was dawn ultra and tranny fluid. What is the third ingredient? I looked at the transcript and didn't see it. What am I missing?

As this is my first time ever seeing you ,I'm clueless !!! Atf has lots of uses as does Dawn !!!

@@williamcollins4082 He showed you how to make it, plus he gave you a link to the blaster which is a penetrating oil. I don't understand why it's so hard to watch or read and follow directions

This may be analytical, but could Palmolive Max Strength last as long as Dawn Platinum? I don’t have any dawn platinum, but have multiple bottles of green Palmolive, that says Max Strength on the source container.
Our videos are very tool/product specific, we have many years testing and trying different products and share exactly what we know works, but you can use whatever you want to use my friend. Thanks for watching, have a great day. mad Mike the hammer SPC
Always used the pink old school: Naval Jelly.
Damn right works great on daytons rims !
Naval jelly is an acid.
@@44hawk28 1st ingredient is Water 65-70%, Phosphorus acid 25-30%, Sulfuric acid 1 -3%, pH 1.5-2.5, rinses off with water, low VOC. Coca Cola also removes rust & has phosphate acid: 70mg/100ml.
Loctite bought the Original formula. Rust-Oleum has a similar product. Never had an issue with the Naval Jelly.
For small areas, it works but for vehicles in doing large areas it costs way too much. Thanks for watching. mad Mike the hammer SPC
Another great mixture from Mad Mike! Great job!
Glad you like it! Thank you for watching Randal, always a pleasure my friend. Hope your day is the best. mad Mike the hammer SPC
Love your videos and watch all of them. For the rust proofing with the dawn, what is the Blaster you refer to? Is it one of your concoctions.? if anyone knows what's in it would you let me know? Thank you.
It's this amzn.to/2OTeLYF Thanks for watching and asking Bill, and just a reminder, all of the products/tools we use in our videos can always be found in the SHOW MORE of the videos description, if you can't find it let us know and we will help you. mad Mike the hammer SPC
Well I'm totally embarrassed! Turns out Canadian Tire carries PB Blaster. It's similar to WD-40. I tried it on my truck and cars various squeaks and noises, even grinding sounds Etc., and they immediately disappeared. So when it comes to making the rust proofing, it simply consists of transmission fluid, Dawn dishwashing liquid , and PB Blaster. And the blaster sold for Less than WD-40! I'm hooked on it. they also have a lubricant I'm going to try.
What is your blaster? In your mix what is blaster??

Roudup is an ecological and biological (including humans) poison. Please find an alternative.
@@Marcoosianism nah
Roundup spray adjuvant based on ammonium sulfate will do more good. Even better in drought conditions or on more mature weeds.
Roundup is glycophosphate poison. Vinegar works better for weeds
