Out of all the albums Asia made with John Payne, Aura was the band's best one they ever made with him and it's my all time favourite from that era. Every song from start to finish was fantastic and powerful in their own right, the lineup of Downes, Payne, Slade and Govan were a real tight unit and they sound absolutely incredible here.
This song is so hypnotic to me. It such a beautiful piece of musical artistry. John Payne is so underrated. I love the orginal lineup along with this one fronted by Mr. Payne. I would love to see both bands unite and tour together. Now that would be epic, does anyone else agree?!
IS ABSOLUTLY THE BEST SONG FROM "ASIA" AND MY FEELING AND HEART IS IN TROUBLES WHEN I HEAR THIS GUITAR-SOLO TOO. FANTASTIC SONG. GOING ONDER MY SKIN.. THIS SONG IS FOR ME THE ABSOLUTLY FAVORITE SONG "READY TO GO HOME" !!!!!!!!! I LOVE THIS SONG AND THE ASIA-BOYS TOO.
Credit where credit is due: It was Graham Gouldman in 10cc who wrote "Ready To Go Home", and it was written after the death of his father, Hyme Gouldman, in 1991. But Asia covers it with pride!
Cover of a 10cc song. They also covered another song by the Gouldman/Gold songwriting tune on the album. I put the originals and the Asia versions in my Asia playlist. Thanks for the upload!
@redclaims Yes I just discovered this line up of Asia just this week on youtube. I am astounded by John Payne what a talent. Funny the whole time I saw these cd's in tower records during the 90s I though to myself the Geoff Downes was desperate and the music was terrible. Man was I wrong!
original asia were good but asia with john payne were a different class,so many classic songs, yet so underated by the masses,it's a crime[of the heart].
Absolutely Awesome, wish I'd been there, anyone know the venue?Always been one of my favourite songs,so deep and meaningful.Fully understand the funeral connection - what a way to go out! V:)
It boggle my mind how incredible this entire album is and yet its nowhere to be found amongst any major streaming service. Incomprehensible. Ready To Go Home and Free are all-time classics, and the album deserves far greater awareness. BTW - this song came out just before 9/11 and it is even more poignant in that aspect.
@HavasunBand In a way...yes...but in an other way no... Morten Hakket should have hired Vinnie Colaiuta...then it would be epic. I missed the incoming fills to go into the chorus on Morten's version...
I respectfully completely disagree dear friend. It's perfect, he says it all and complements the mood perfectly and knows exactly where to end it. He could have easily taken it further, but it didn't need any more and he knew that. Some songs need longer solos, but Guthrie's a genius guitarist and the solo here displays his mastery.
I’m ready to begin I‘m ready to receive forgiveness for my sins. You should be ready to confess and repent your sins much earlier not lately when you laying on your deathbed. Who knows if god is gracefully enough to soften up your heart and clear your mind to pray in faith to Jesus the Lord the only Way to God the father. The lyrics are enticing to hear but not many make it to heaven lately on their deathbed for the most it’s already to late, they don’t even make to the deathbed and die suddenly unforgiven in their Sins.
A very poignant song for me. My father died of cancer 2 months before Aura came out. Love the album and especially this song but still have trouble listening to it 8 years on.
Matan Isman It lookslikea strat but,is really, as far as I can tell, an old Gretch Re-worked " Electromatic Solid body.Pickups are extremely loud and powerful even with a smallamp.I kid of course my main inst is the drums. I just mess around on the guitar.
but this is not Asia. Not the original line-up anyway, apart from Downes. I don't think it was fair of Payne to use the name Asia for a group that did not exist at the time
Geoff more or less became the de-facto leader of Asia after Wetton left, since he was one of the founding members. It'll be interesting to see what happens now that Wetton's gone and he and Steve Howe are in Yes full time. Howe's already said he's done with Asia and Geoff seems pretty adamant that he's sticking with Yes.

Michael Sturgis played drums on most of the album.
Vinnie Colaiuta played drums on this song on the album

I do!
Masterpiece, thank you for upload!

This is a cover from Graham Gouldman (10cc, Wax), they have the credits. The interpretacion from Asia is really fantastic.
Excellent musicianship...WORLD CLASS DRUMMER..........................
the voice of payne is fantastic
Amazing, simply amazing, the best songs I've ever heard
My very favourite band on the world. The best drummer!

vjstanding, this was shot from the War Memorial Hall in Trenton, NJ in Nov. of 2002. I was there, awesome performance!!
The Best Music ~ ASIA - Ready To Go Home
Incredible song 😓💙👏
If and when I leave this world, and someone is out there to remind whoever takes care of my earthly remains, I'd like this played at my 'funeral'.
Agree 100%
Super!!! Super!!!! Super! ! ! Excellent! ! !
Live or on an album my heart is happy🤗🤗🤗🤗
search for Morten Harket and this song, a fantastic version. He's the lead singer in the norwegian popgroup A-HA
Hard not to do justice to a beautiful song such as this. Sissel does one heck of a respectible job on this as well.
Cover of a 10cc song. They also covered another song by the Gouldman/Gold songwriting tune on the album. I put the originals and the Asia versions in my Asia playlist. Thanks for the upload!
Eric Stewart's vocals on this 10cc song were brilliant! This is brilliant too!
Very good video and performance.
I really love it.
Respect ofcourse to 10cc also
Beautiful.
I love Guthrie Govan on guitars and Chris Slade on drums (The Firm, AC/DC, Asia). :-)
Very nice ,..
Chris Slade ; So relaxed , yet so powerful !

Asia - remember seeing them at the Summit in Houston in July '82. Hope to see them before my time's up.
john payne is a great vocalist.one of my fav asia tunes
John Payne must be one of the best rock vocalist .
original asia were good but asia with john payne were a different class,so many classic songs, yet so underated by the masses,it's a crime[of the heart].
Crime of the heart is my favorite Asia song with John Payne as vocalist
Heaven, and summer are my favourites, but this Asia are never recognised, and they were a fantastic band, imo.
As my wife says: "This is a song to hear kneeling."
I can actually hear Geoff's voice on the harmony. Too bad he's never sang lead! Great job, underrated/underused voice!
O progressivo é sempre perfeito

i´m crying... this music is amazing with Morten or them!
Guthrie is a legend
John this song is wonderful. Sept 23.
very good
Perfection!!!
ВЕЛИКО!!!!!!!
Конечно не сравнить с Мортеном .Гораздо слабее.У Мортена гениально.Но тоже очень хорошо👍
@Raimok Chris Slade has great ensemble playing skills!

ASIA-Aria was the most underated rock album during the nineties.

That solo from Guthrie is way way way way way too short!!!! 🤣👊🤘👍

Guthrie is so good.
There are a few covers on Aura but, as far as I’m concerned, they’re all better than the originals.
I have the same guitar! I wonder why I can't make mine sound like that? LOL Must be me!
which guitar is it?

Guthrie I love you
Can somebody mention when and where this was taken?
