The USB hub recommendation. IMO best to make it a powered one so there's enough current for charging controllers and plugging in other peripherals at the same time. Otherwise if its not powered use the hub for the least power hungry peripherals like keyboard, mouse. Don't use a non-powered hub for say a HDD and charging controllers otherwise you'll end up drawing too much current from the USB. PS4's OS warns you of this, I don't think this Linux distro will be so kind so you could end up with a dead USB port.
@LambdaIsLoveDeltaIsLife you'll be fine, it's just a light word of warning to be careful and not overload your USB port. I personally like to steer clear of cheap non-powered hubs altogether. Sony upgraded the USB spec on the PS4's they manufactured throughout its life, so some models can handle more load than others.
You can connect your ps4 controller via Bluetooth, press and hold the share button and PS button until the controller led flashes rapidly, in the Bluetooth control center wait until it appears Wireless controller, then click on it - if it says Connected you are good. Enjoy.

If you are struggling with having a black screen despite having all settings correct and such, try a different monitor or tv. That was my issue, I switched to a native 1080p monitor and now it is working properly.

I manage to land on the Shell interface to run the installation of the distribution. Problem, although I plug in any usb keyboard, nothing works. I guess it's a problem with the USB controller. What to do ? thank you.
try different bz image
Is your keyboard USB 3.0? I’ve found 3.0 devices won’t work well when booting.
@@antoniohrsak6984 I’ve tried a diff img and that solved one problem after inputting exec install-psxitarch.sh it would say no usb found? Do u have solution?
The 2 passwords there are is if you have the one that in the log screen in has a girl then the pass is ITmania as spelled and if you have the white PS4 then it's ps4linux as spelled
Fucking thank you I was stuck on this for so long
Awesome tutorial! Quick question tho... On my TV the resolution is off like the start button is cut off how do I adjust it to fit my TV screen
Sticky, same here?
Linux Mint not starting after installation 😞

my ps4 is a ps4 pro CUH7215B
Has a PS4 Pro fixed happened?
If you use the first link for the distro, it only downloads just over 100mb of the file. The mirror link gives you the full 2GB+
Had to do hard reset of the PS4, then use disk manager to get the PC to show the drive after using the first link
I tested for this whole afternoon, conclusion: do not connect the usb cable with the ps4 controller before access the linux, otherwise it will stop on booting screen!!
Thank you so much for this video! I'm having a problem though, perhaps someone can help me! When I run the Linux 1GB payload I get an error that says "bzImage can't be read". I already tried all the other bzImages here, any suggestions? Thanks again!
No matter how many times I try it does not work for me. Karo sends the pay load and nothing happens. Nighthost says out of memory and nothing loads after
run the mira loader first then the 1 gb linux link
Is there a way to override the PS4 firmware with other OS such as Linux for those who don't want to use PS4 as a gaming console anymore?
why the actual fuck would you want to do that lol. It's possible to install linux on the internal hardrive on the ps4 fat but apparently runs worse than on an external drive btw
Get a computer
@@shib5267I know right, dis nigga trippin lol
i went through the whole process and when i try and get back into linux it just goes to the original screen as if it wasnt installed yet - any tips ?
Thanks a lot for the tutorial. It was worth everything so I can exploit my ps4 as much as I can. I just had one problem, everything is fine except for the resolution, it goes out of borders, I tried changing the resolution from the ps4 XMB but no dice, do you have any idea what to do? Thanks
SAME PROBLEM
I need some help. I cant get the Linux 1GB payload to boot off of any host. I have a 250gb usb 3.0 formatted to FAT32. With all of yout files that you used in the video, (im on a ps4 pro aswell). But when I plug in my USB and click the payload it says received but thats it, nothing happens. I can click it again and again and nothing.
I have the same issue did you ever figure it out?
same
Thank you for another detailed steps/guide @MODDEDWARFARE. I got to step where I have to load the linux payload 1Gb, but my PS4 completely turns off after getting waiting for clients notification. I have all the settings corrected and have turned off your mentioned settings for sound and screen section. I am using FAT/original version of the PS4. Could it be payload issue?
Oh, I have to select the bzImage for FAT version, i was able to boot to shell, but got unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0).. Will try other drive
same problem :(
Did you find a solution ?

bro i cant because im not using a 1080 p tv so it wont let me use 1080p mode because ReSUTION MIsMatCH so i go into settings and change it to 720 and now instead of off the bat saying its not supported i have to go into the payload and THEN it will tell me size not supported
What usb hdd size required for installation?
16gb or up
when i go get to linux kernal my keyboard can input any thing what should i do?
Every time I run the Linux payload from the exploit host I end up just being told payload loaded and nothing goes through, I've tried different USBs and every port on the console, not sure what's not allowing it to run, any advice appreciated!
Run mira loader first

i only got my ps4 slim to boot into linux a few times but i forgot the bzimg and initramfs that worked, and the few times I did work ethernet wifi no network connectivity worked. can't wait to try these
i've never heard of lutris, very cool
When trying this on my ps4, firstly, the screen resolution seems incompatible (a portion of the screen on the left is cut off on my TV), and secondly, I'm unable to use USB keyboard to type in any commands, even though it works with the PS4 system itself. Please help
Same I can’t even type anything in the commands please if you fixed the issue inform me
@@blackz1588 For left portion being cut off adjust the boarders in your tv settings and for not being able to use the USB keyboard make sure you plug it in before running the payload
To fix screen issues, your tv will have picture settings where you can disable overscan option. That should set it right. For me, the bzimage files that seem to work is both the 4.14 files. It just depends on which distro you install but both of those work for me
Thanks for the info bro 👌
