Hi Shaye, Mike is a retire chef of 28 years and we love watching you cook. Our garden was planted here in central Texas end of March and going strong. It's going to be 90 deg this weekend and we are praying we get rain this year. We have been doing more cooking on our channel and enjoying it very much. You garden is looking good and that soup looks amazing. Blessings to your family from ours. Rochelle
Thank you for actually SHOWING us how you prepare and plant your garden, not just talking about it! The same for your French onion soup! I will be taking your tutorial and putting it to good use! I definitely have to get that tool you were using!
When I was a little girl unused to make homemade French onion soup with the bread and melted cheese. I would make this for my sister and myself when my parents were out. I never had a recipe but sort of used my instincts to make it. And it’s so funny that I used to make it the right way lol
Lol, Worcestershire pronunciation is difficult if you're not British. The Shire is pronounced "Sheer". Nailed it🤣. I live close to Worcester, it's a beautiful place.
I make mine with chicken stock too, but I don't add worstershire sauce though. I add 2 bay leaves and some tarragon. Ive also added white button mushrooms whole to cook with the onions and oh man. That makes it a little more hearty. Yummm.
As the person who cannot garden worth a darn, but wishes she could and wants to learn to over come my black plague thumb, I watch these videos and try to pick up tips and learn- so thank you!
I always plant my greening onion bulbs. They give way more green tops than others and eventually the outer part of bulb rot and the inner part grows and splits in several shallot-looking bulbs. You're basically get an onion bush. If you winters are cold, you can plant on a window sell in a small pot or cup.
I was behind this year (or at least it felt that way) and I started most of my seeds in a small tray all together before potting up into individual cells. This made the difference between me doing it at all or waiting until next year. Turns out our last frost is after the traditional May 24 weekend anyway! Still, I thank you. I now have seedlings I can share with my sister, who has a 7 month old, and my dear friend who loves to garden but has been low with morning sickness in her first pregnancy!
This may be my favorite gardening video to date! 🎉 Thanks for all the hands-on footage. It really helps this newbie gardener! I also cannot wait to try the French onion soup!! ♥️
Ugh, I just love you. I also have a hard time pronouncing Worcester sauce. "roy-sister-sharee" 😂😂😂 Thank you for the laugh. Can't wait to see your garden bloom.
The soup looks delicious.. I love French onion and I just got a supply of beef broth from my daughter. Also was fun to watch you garden… I do similar no till… I use mushroom mulch every year. Happy gardening to you.
No... many a person has tried to cook pancakes on it only to have them run over the sides - ha! They do make a skillet though that fits perfectly over two burners. It's a great accessory.
Fantastic job on the onions. My shallots lasted the longest but I am out of onions. Question- where did you get the green crate you are keeping the onions in? Looks like the perfect storage medium.
My mother called it 'Wooster sauce" as did her mother before her....lots easier to say. I love French onion soup, and yes, they do cook down a lot. Love your garden
Bunch/clump planting doesn't work unless your soul is really loose, and more sandy than clay...tried it last year in Northeast Kansas....small onions, was disappointed, but it was an experiment, and now I know.
Beautiful video , always enjoy watching your channel Can you please tell me where I can get that tool you using for planting or how it call ?thank you Soup looks amazing
Worshter-sheer sauce. I love your videos. Have you already told us where you got your current greenhouse? I live in a windy area of Oklahoma and need something that'll withstand regular 60+ mph winds.
Are you using an antique coffee mill to grind your black pepper??? Has anyone else done this? I love the concept as it seems it would grind more faster than a handheld pepper mill.
Wus-ter-shuh (Your husband was on the right track) We don't pronounce shire in England like you do, it's more of a shuh noise. The soup looks delicious, I always forget how simple but flavourful french onion soup is, might have to make some this week.
French onion soup is one of my favorites. I have never made it but after this video, I just may give it a try! I enjoyed seeing your garden starting to come alive by seeding. Can you tell me what kind of hoe/tool you are using. I grew up on the farm but have never seen one exactly like it.
😅 love the way you say Worcestershire! I'm from the UK where Worcestershire is. It is pronounced Wou-ster-sheer. It's definitely not pronounced how it's spelled! I realise it's not helpful the way it's spelled but you did well. 😊 I'm sure there are so many American terms/words I spell out pronounce wrongly so no worries. 😊
Much harder way to plant than a farmer with a tractor. Those stoves are so expensive. Plus, even if I could get one, I'd have to redo my entire kitchen to fit it in. I wish I could.

@@okiebasil
You are wrong.
That may be how they taught you to say it in your neck of the woods, but it's not how the British pronounce it.
Is that an upgraded oven and stove top? Love it!
Are you using an antique coffee mill to grind your black pepper??? Has anyone else done this? I love the concept as it seems it would grind more faster than a handheld pepper mill.
Yum!!!!!!!!
You don’t really need to compost the sprouted ones. They are good to eat or to cook with. 😊
Also English I can confirm it’s wustersheer sauce or for ease just say wuster sauce 😂 we have some tricky place names .
@The Elliot Homestead
Would you be willing to share the name of the tool you were using in the garden?
Thank you so much for this beautiful content!
