Im guessing BLU can't go into potd? Only been in there for like moogle tomes and stuff but I've been thinking of going for the horse so ive started looking into potd stuff. Which would you recommend for someone just getting started between RPR and WAR? RPR's my main but I feel comfortable playing solo or casual content on WAR.
Excellent questions! Correct, BLU cannot go into PotD. Both RPR and WAR are solid first choices; however, they have their pros and cons when compared to each other. WAR really never has to worry about the enemies doing too much damage; however, you'll be fighting against the timer. It involves learning proper pomander management/usage and maximizing positioning/uptime. The constant optimization of your decision-making can be daunting but fun to learn. You also have a tight DPS check during the boss on floor 180, but there's lots of tutorials/vods out there showing how to do it. You also might be forced to learn the infamous landmine plays of floors 171-173 to make sure your resources are solid for the 181 set. Some people are very uncomfortable doing these landmine plays while others find them to be a complete joy to execute. For RPR, your DPS is monstrous, even among the other DPS, so you almost never have to worry about time. You do have to worry about survival, but RPR's armor stats are naturally higher than the other melee + you have Arcane Crest. With some melee stagger-kiting (I have another video explaining this) and smart Strength and/or Steel usage, you'll basically feel like a tank with massive damage output. It has a very comfortable DPS check with the floor 180 boss. The floor 190 boss can be daunting at first because you're a melee, but very manageable once you learn how to survive the fight. I'd argue it has the easiest time surviving the 190 boss when compared to other DPS. Unfortunately, you have to learn how to live with Pox since you can't interrupt Mimics. Based on these descriptions, you can choose whatever sounds better for you. You can even try both or alternate between the two. If you want my personal opinion, I'd choose RPR 100% of the time if I want consistent back-to-back clears.
It's possible it's a channel joke. Assuming it's not I'm not sure about their particular reasons tbh. Astro is strong in general but I've not played it in palace.... It feels kinda miserable at 60 though in my opinion and I could see this heavily contributing. It's kit doesn't really feel complete either at 60 to me. Regen healers in general are at a light disadvantage in solo palace as your maximum potential health is reduced when taking some of the much harder hits. But that's why I was confused when they then put white mage in the second tier. So it's just an educated guess.
@@zefer8831 It’s not hate; most runners actually love AST in PotD. I LOVE AST in PotD, but it’s so outrageously difficult to clear with due to its incredibly low damage. You have to constantly do huge risky plays AND get lucky. For example, you have to pull like 5-6 mobs at the same time for most of the 161 set just to break even with time. On top of that, you need an above average amount of help in the form of rage, strength, steel, witching and lust + you gotta know how to maximize all of that extra luck. All the other jobs can clear with average/low luck.
@@anierikidemona I absolutely love AST in PotD, but the regen healing and HP aren’t the issue. The healing is actually incredible and it’s hard to die as AST. The problem is the low damage. Due to the low damage, it requires constant risky big pulls/plays and above-average luck to clear. There’s a reason why something like 30 people on the planet have cleared with that job. It’s truly the only luck-dependent job in PotD.

Is there any explanation for all the AST hate?

@@deliciousdereban honestly fair enough. Time limit got me more than a few times on everything while adjusting so it didn't occur to me.
@@deliciousdereban Ooooh ok! Maybe you did mention the difficulty during the video and I vege'd out. I was missing so much context
