The kaya was green in colour because there were juice of pandan leaves (screwpine leaves) added into the recipe as additional flavouring. The brown kaya is the original kaya. The green kaya is called pandan kaya. :)
Actually you can meet and talk to the Sultan if you want to, because Perak's Sultan is known to be one of the most kindest Sultan in Malaysia. Just approach them kindly and ask the Police that you are visitors and you are glad to see them. Chances are higher for you to able speak with if you are doing so. By the way nice video. You seem to see having lots of funs here!

that man at the mosque gave you really great and detailed explanations. don't you just love Ipoh? it's just so laid back, different from the hustle and bustle of KL. and I live that they are making the effort to maintain alot if the old architectures.
largest mosque in Malaysia is Selangor state mosque. national mosque located in KL as well as Federal Territories mosque. Malaysia has 9 royal family and each will be nation's head of state every 5 year by rotation. current king of Malaysia is His Majesty KDYMM YDP Sultan Muhammad V House of Kelantan which is the 15th Agong of Malaysia. the current Sultan of Perak is His Royal Highness Sultan Nazrin Shah which is also Deputy Yang Di-Pertuan Agong. his wife is HRH Tuanku Zara Salim Davidson, Raja Permaisuri Perak
Laa Mawjuud lol now you said it, it's kinda true, but generally a peaceful game though. FYI, before the formation of Malaysia as a country, the land consist of separate kingdoms but then got colonized by European powers. After world war 2 and the defeat of Japanese empire, the British empire agree to give independence to our country after a series of mass protest, surveys, consensus, etc. One of the agreements reached is that the sultans got to keep their positions as per the wish of the locals back then, and hence we have the constitutional monarchy and the rotational system.
Lessilu there are non Muslim Malaysian who visit mosque, but not many, just minority and they didn't go to a small mosque. They use to visit big mosque like Masjid Negara, or any other big and signature mosque in Malaysia. Even Muslim Malaysian go to visit non Muslim temple or church but we only go to the signature temple such as the one at Batu Caves, Selangor. Simply say, both sides only visit each other signature mosque, temple or church, when they have religious celebration (to watch and learn each religions) and we only interested to visit religious places that have history. 😄
you should go to Kuala kangsar the royal city... they have 1 if the most beautiful mosque in Malaysia and the palace ... n also dont forget the mystery kellies castle ... the castle build by European millionaire to his wife but ..sad his died before the castle complete.. some say the castle was haunted :)

The green kaya is mainly due to the the usage of juice from pandan leaves (pines screw leaves or south east Asia version of vanilla) which is being used in the cooking desserts and savory food. The brown Kaya is becos of the brown sugar or palm sugar.
The charity / giving alms to the poor you mentioned is actually one of the 5 pillars of Islam just like the daily prayers and fasting in ramadan. In other words, it is obligated on all muslims. Hi Lessilu, The royalty that you saw is not the Sultan, but he is HH Raja Di-Hilir Perak, 2nd inline to Perak Sultan-ship. His full name is Duli Yang Amat Mulia Raja Di-Hilir Perak Raja Iskandar Dzulkarnain ibni Almarhum Sultan Idris Iskandar Al-Mutawakkil Alallahi Shah II Afifurlah.
Shah Mohamad the name after Raja is always the real name.. before that all the calling official name only like people with Sir, Mr and etc. his name is Iskandar Dzulkarnain for short

(take note we travel on motorcycle)
When in ipoh, perak, malaysia, a cup of white coffee and toast with kaya (coconut milk, palm sugar and eggs cook till thick, sometimes green color due a fragrant leave juice called pandan) is a must,. Or chinese noodle soup.. Fantastic..
kaya is actually kind of jam that is made of lo of caramelized sugar added eggs and coconut milk, the one you had in Ipoh which is green colour is because they had added the extract from pandan leaves :) glad to hear you had a nice holiday in Malaysia. Do try out more Malaysia cuisines and special street foods, you will like it.
nice video... very entertaining... I'm from Ipoh and still living here.. actually the person you guys were waiting at the mosque is not the Sultan of Perak... the person is call Raja DiHilir Perak.... in simple words is he's rank no 3 in the Perak Monarchy at present... 1st is the Sultan, 2nd is the Raja Muda or Crown Prince and 3rd is the Raja DiHilir...glad you enjoy your stay in Ipoh... do come again!..

i really enjoyed your vlog. imo, your english is already good. i really hope to have good english speaking skills like yours so that i can start speaking in english on my future vlogs. thumbs up!
Lessilu i wouldnt say all nasi lemak is tasty. Even malaysians only like certain shops who can really cook it well. I guess u tasted the not so good nasi lemak 😂
It is very common in Malaysia most some time or rather some time you can come across sultan . Because their istana is open to public during Hari Raya Puasa festival. Even i came aross Dr. Mahathir Mohamad in shopping complex in 80's doing shopping. I met politician Anvvar Ibrahim among public during his election campaign many years before. Malaysia politician are more polite and like to interact along the public in comparison to Europe politician.
Nice of the man to give you a private tour and explaining the different parts of the mosque. Glad you enjoyed it. 😊
He was sooooo lovely! And being for the first time in a mosque is an experience that we'll never forget!
and you guys are so lovely too... hope you enjoyed!!
Lessilu I liked your videos!

The one Ipoh tree infront of the railway station just fell down recently due to heavy rainfall lol. You're lucky to see it before it's gone.

i been there for 20 years. i love malaysia too.
hi and welcome to ipoh! the sound that you hear from the mosque is called Azan. how do you feel when listening to azan?😊
it´s very cozy but it sound funny because we don´t understand a world! :)
Asyrani Mahfuzah Cozy..
1st is the Sultan, 2nd is the Raja Muda or Crown Prince and 3rd is the Raja DiHilir...glad you enjoy your stay in Ipoh... do come again!..

have you ever try malaysia breakfast meal ? Nasi lemak. you should try . 😊
Hi Erinn! We did! Vincent likes it very much but Alessia didn't find it so tasty, sorry! :(
Lessilu Yeah Nasi Lemak ! Vincent , u should try Nasi Kerabu . its Kelantan state signature dish .If you can try it on your next vlog :)
Lessilu i wouldnt say all nasi lemak is tasty. Even malaysians only like certain shops who can really cook it well. I guess u tasted the not so good nasi lemak 😂
wahhh i love the way he (a Muslim guy) explained it to you. so polite.
That´s very nice of them! :)
Know mosque, know Islam, know Allah. U will get real peace
Btw, the VIP that u ve seen not the Sultan. He is crown prince of that state.,
me from ipoh..yeah..ipoh is best in d world
