You’ve convinced us Ipoh is worth a visit. I miss the coconut shakes in Penang which became a daily must have.
There is a “tin mining dredge” , only one left through out Malaysia, just outside of the city of Ipoh. Must see.
I love the drone view in the beginning of this video. My husband and I love just exploring around,. I adore walking because you can enjoy an area at a slower pace. Meandering is my JAM! After minimizing your life, can you truly eliminate the urge to shop? My husband and I are in the midst of minimizing, but I still have a roving eye when I spot a cute shop. I keep telling myself, "My suitcase can only hold so much!" Hoping that'll deter me.
I am a Malaysian, and same as most of you guys I hate being chased. But I used to ask a salesperson, they need to follow the 'prospect' for at least 2 reason. 1. to help out the 'prospect' and 2. if you decided to buy, part of the sales gonna be their commission. so they are making sure you are not attended by other salesperson...
Way to make space is by telling them, "i'll call you once I found something ya..?" and make sure you keep the promise.. 😁
these malaysian videos are terrific. we are heading there in april so have given us many ideas of what we want to do and see. thank you.
Welcome.. chill out ,discover,...'ve fun, enjoy ur tour. try visiting Georgetown, Penang too. Cheers!
What a fun video 😊 always enjoy your experiences in different countries
We, like you, do not usually visit museums during our travels since we prefer doing outdoor stuff. We reserve museums, preferably free ones, for rainy days. Wishing you a nice week. Cheers! ☕️ 😊
the people in the shops follow you because
1. they dont trust you
2. that's their idea of "customer service"
3. Make sure anything you buy goes through them so they get their commission
4. they're trying to pressure you into buying.
Just politely tell them that you're just looking around first. if they can't (or won't) take the hint just walk away.
Just watched your video, I’m going to kl:Penang and Singapore later this year… so helpful!!! X
Great vid. Enjoying the format change. Ipoh looks like a destination to visit. Will visit there when we're next in Malaysia. Penang should be enjoyable for you, enjoy.
I grew up in Ipoh but moved to the US in my late teens. I hope to visit the Tin Museum the next time I’m in Ipoh. My paternal grandpa worked as a tin-miner near Ipoh. Glad that you enjoyed Ipoh.
What a lovely video. I grew up in Ipoh in the 70s before moving to KL. I remember it being a very laid back small town back then, probably still is judging by your video. Yes the afternoon heat in Malaysia can be pretty uncomfortable. Do carry a mini handheld fan, put on a hat n drink sugarless barley water. :) Looking fwd to more videos!
We enjoy these travel type of vlogs, thank you for the insight into a unique part of Malaysia.
We have some news for you two... Message you later!
Thanks for sharing
Great video!
I loved Ipoh & would go back there in a heartbeat.
I'll be in Penang from Jan 31 to Feb 2nd so, I may see you guys while I'm there.
Hope you enjoy Penang. The food in little India is wonderful.
Yup 3-4 days are sufficient for Ipoh and now because of the recent Oscar winner who came from Ipoh ( my late dad was also from Ipoh), many people will be heading to Ipoh
Hey guys, that's a very affordable short trip. Good for you! Curious to learn more about Panang. Cheers!
Thanks for sharing this wonderful video n for showing your explorations in Ipoh.
Glad you enjoyed it!

I recall being pursued by a few sales people at the multi-level Pearl Market in Beijing. Fortunately we had good advice from a local friend on how to manage this to our advantage from a bargaining perspective, as uncomfortable as it felt! We were not taught as children in Canada, how to bargain. The "price" was and is the price. Whereas our friend's guidance was to show as little interest as possible and start by dividing by 4! Thanks for the tour!
To escape from the heat of the sun .. since u are in ipoh .. u cud head to Cameron Highlands .. then to Genting Highlands while going back to KL .. there u will find a cooler climate .. have a pleasant journey !
penang is one of the great eating holes of south east asia....look forward to what you tried and look forward to what you saw...i loved it to
You will find several areas of Penang with similar arched footpaths. They were sensible in the early 20th century or before? when they built the buildings, and they gave shade for those walking.
Looks like you had a lovely little time in Ipoh. We will plan to stop there the next time we are in Malaysia in a couple of months. Looking forward to your thoughts on Penang.
Like you we don’t like being followed around we just then leave thanks for another great vlog ❤
I am with you! I hate being followed around shops. Even if want to buy something, I won’t!
Agree if they chase me around a store or try to sell me on every item they have I'm running to the exit. Plenty of other shops that will allow me to browse and not feel pressured.
Haha Janell, it's not just us 😊👍
When I lived in Germany, there was a shop that I just loved...but you are “assigned” a shop assistant and good luck shaking them! You learn to get used to it. Lol
Agreed about the shopping, hate to be followed and pestered. Great to see a new video from you both, Neil hope you're doing better sir.
5:08 is when Sarah's mum gave you that thumbs down. Great to see the cities that aren't the major cities and tourist attractions. Its walkability sounds like an attraction in itself.
Love tea. Did the Twinings tea tasting in London last summer and it was amazing. Would love to see that tea museum in Ipoh one day.
One day Alegna, it's worth a visit for sure.
From an Ipohan, reason for Ipoh is great food
Totally agree about being hassled, we just leave. Would like to see you put the costs in £'s😁
Lovely video , Michelle Yeoh is born in Ipoh .
Welcome to my hometown. If your want to cross the street, just raise up your hand like superman, all vehicle will stop . This is the magic hand culture in all over Malaysia. Try and see
Great video as always… Heatiness… It’s not a temperature thing, it’s a way the Chinese describe a person’s internal “flow” for want of a better phrase. You will find lots of Chinese talk about food reducing heat, which I think is more closely related to cholesterol, but I am happy to stand corrected. If anyone is Chinese reading this they may be able to explain more succinctly… I do know it’s not a temperate based heat though.
Hope you will visit someday Philippines..Malaysia is great country so close neighbors in my country.
Well, the Florida Keys are oppressively hot so maybe that's why it reminded you? lol Great video! 🙂
Good point!
Maybe u can add in Alor Setar city. One of the oldest city in Malaysia and the world.
I’ve read north Vietnam is cooler this time of year - might be more comfortable for you guys
Penang Assam Laksa (noodle dish) 😋🤤
Forgot to add.....can you add "buy me a coffee" to your links? We'd love to buy you a beer!!
Wow just love the place how can I reach you
Hi Virginia, you can get us at info@2goroam.com
Pleased you enjoyed it!
I hate being followed round in shops, make me feel that they think I’m a potential thief, I often leave at that point. Best part is in the States when you get to the till and they say ‘Did anyone help you today?’. NO🤣
Neil what were the transport costs to get from Kuala Lumper to Ipoh?
It was about $20 total for both of, one way.
The sales staff’s level of enthusiasm to please can be unbearable and too close for comfort in terms of proximity. I sincerely think their intention was to please and help…. without realizing they hinder.
yeah, she in difficult situation.. some customer like to be entertain & some dont..
Golden globe winner Michelle yeoh was born in ipoh
New essential.... Fan
Say to sales person.
If I like I will come to you
You did not go eating the best cuisine there. Ipoh is also great for food.
You Have not seen lot Bec there is none !!!!!!
