I still have the original from Steyr. Steyr Mannlicher later sold the patent for the TSP/SPP to B&T and then the weapon was called the TP9. If I had to choose a weapon after the apocalypse, it would be this one. Indestructible, simple, fairly precise, light and easy to use. Since all the moving parts were designed to withstand the stress of a submachine gun, nothing ever breaks as a semi-automatic.

Might I suggest something better....Glock G19 with a Fab Defense Cobra stock. It can be holstered and you can still fit all the usual accessories on it (holo sight, flash light, internal guide rod laser, full auto switch, extended mags). You can all get a 16" barrel and install the pistol into a Fab Defense Scout kit if you want something slightly bigger and comfortable. A 16" barrel speeds up 9mm ammo making newer bullet designs like the Underwood Extreme Defender waaaay more deadly at range. I hunt hogs with that setup and the wound channels are bigger than some 5.56 rounds in my experience.

To be fair, the tp9 is tiny and feather light compared to an AR. A mk18 has a 10.3" barrel and is 26-27" long and 6lbs. A TP9 is under 12", or 20" with the stock extended and 4lbs. With the OEM suppressor it measures 27".
So you can get a suppressed pdw in the same space and weight as the smallest acceptable bare-bones AR. And a folding stock. Not saying it should cost what it does, but It costs more for a reason.

The setup mentioned above is now my lightweight PDW kit. If hunting I pop the G19 into a Fab Defense Scout with a 16" barrel using Underwood Extreme Defender 90gr +p 9mm ammo. The longer barrel length speeds up the bullet making the wound channel comparable to a 5.56. The only thing I like about Glocks are the amount of aftermarket parts. For actual pistol shooting I'm either using a HK VP9 for shooting drills or a Sig P365 or Springfield Hellcat for conceal carry.

I feel like a 5.7 pistol pretty much negates most the advantages of a pdw. The recoil is stupid light and with an extended mag many people can probably dump more accurate rounds than a pdw loaded with hot 9mm. Not to mention, at 130 yards a 9mm bullet drop is 34inches, a 5.7 is 12 inches.

Most people don’t defend themselves and home from people 100+ yards away 🤦‍♂️. 5.7 pistols are my new favorite though. Capacity and accuracy are nice. I would rather have capacity over stopping power cause in the moment I know won’t hit shit 😂😂😂

I like my apc9, but it is bigger. I also like my Glock 17 with B&T frame. It has to be pretty close to the same size as the tp9 and it is a bit cheaper. It is fussy removing the Glock from the frame. The Glock and the APC9 both run the same 33 round Glock mags. It is really nice to just load the magazines not wondering which gun I will be shooting. One other point to think about is the native B&T mags have a reputation for being fragile and expensive. I love watching brass facts and this channel. There a bunch of great people out there making relevant content. ❤🎉

I have both the SP5 and the TP9. Love them both for different reasons. I like that there is a holster for the TP9 as well so it can be used as a secondary that still can be shouldered. Also you can get a version of the MP7 now but it is from Tommy built so that’s a plus. Thinking about getting one from them.

I have a chassis on a 1911 .45 with an M4 collapsible stock and a 16 inch barrel, I opted for the longer barrel to avoid the tax stamp. I am currently installing a chassis on a 1911-22 Colt/Walther w/16 inch barrel. The 1911 trigger is fantastic, there is an abundance of suppressor and aftermarket support. A final iteration of this chassis could be a 1911 .460 Rowland w/16 inch barrel which would match the ballistics of a .45LC. (A Law Tactical folder and standard length 1911 barrel would minimize the difference in size/weight)

We have the B&T APC9 Pro. Not the same but the most ideal for home defense if you ask me. I may have gone for the TP9 instead but not for the price. The APC9 is nearly as much and it is just point & click. There is nothing I can discount unless I nitpick on it's weight, which is not too bad anyway. It's just SO perfect for home defense. It's my go-to. Flip the brace, flip the red dot, ready to protect.

For car defense I just use a Glock with one of those strike industries blast shield, it enables me to have the fab defense angled grip that covers the trigger and a light laser combo. I've found that with the little added weight, the grip and the blue laser anything within 100 yards I really didn't miss my brace all that much.

First time i checked out these out at my local FFL was back when they were known as the Steyr SPP. The trigger was trash at the time. I saw the newer B&T TP9 at my local FFL and while not the best trigger I feel B&T cleaned it up a bit. Still not the best trigger but certainly an improvement over the Steyr. Thanks to my FFL giving me a decent deal and this video i added one to the collection! 😎
