Thank you for your effort to make this video, Evan. For someone like me who never heard of you before and don't know if you are expirienced enought to rate the camera functions it would've been great to insert more of your photos. Wish you all the best and good luck with your channel!
Thanks for the tip! I will definitely do that in the future. You can also check my website and Instagram to check out my content. I am a professional sports photographer and have been doing photography for over 7 years now.
@@EvanOlbricht Yes, now I know that (and followed you after watching some of your videos). But it's the first impression you need to take advantage of for potential clients or followers. :-) Been in the professional photography business for nearly 30 years now. Best regards from Germany!
Awesome vid! I bought the R5 about a week ago. Upgraded from a 77D that I've had since 2017. Went from the bottom of canon's line up to the top end lol. R5 is way too much camera for me especially as I only do photography as a hobby at the moment although do want to get into it professionally. Mainly wanted the 4k Clog 3 video ability as I like to shoot some video and the 77D is lacking in video functionality. The AF tracking on the R5 is insane as you mentioned. I've gotten photos of birds in flight that I'd have never gotten on the 77D as they were small birds and moved quickly, I'd have never got the focus point on them in time, but on the R5 it just locked onto one of them (they were in a flock) and got the pic in such a short space of time.
@@EvanOlbricht Don't say that, I've only just gotten the R5 lol. Tbf I heard about rumours that the mk2 might be released in July but no knowing for sure and I'm impatient lol. The R1 looks epic though with eye tracking so you can switch subjects that it focuses on just by looking at them in the view finder.
@@mike309saa Haha, ya it will definitely be interesting to see what those cameras are able to do. I am still very happy with the R5 and have no plans of getting the new one.
Hey! I would prefer the R5 because it is a full-frame sensor and has amazing image quality. On the other hand, the R7 is much cheaper so also depends on your budget because it is still a great camera.
Ya, the files are huge so I have 4 different hard drives to share files and then also for storage. I never store the photos on my Macbook because I don't have room so being able to have hard drives makes it much easier to share your files and then also to store them in different spots.
@@EvanOlbricht I want to get the r5 for football picture yea I need to be prepare for the files size since I edit off my phone I’m think about getting a iPad just to edit off the raw files
Ya, I have an iPad Air which I have Lightroom on, and it has worked very well. You definitely will need to upgrade memory for it but I do like editing on the iPad as well. If you want that to be your main workhorse you might want to get an iPad Pro just to make sure it can handle all the files.
It really is the best color science I’ve seen. Do you normally shoot photos or videos? I shoot more photos so I feel like Canon is better, but I also know some people who use Sony cause they shoot more videos.
Hii, when you say at 4.56 that printing something bigger than 20 * 30, shot with your previous cropped sensor camera... you mean 20 inches I guess... right? Sorry I'm Italian, just to be sure you are not talking about cm. It would be very worrying . Thank you About R5 I'm tempted to buy a new one today for 2500 euro in a shop I trust with very low prices - a used one in perfect conditions as I want costs no less than 2100 € in Europe - or await for the new R6 mk III. I'm basically a hobbyist-photographer so I would prefere a reflex but R5 is superior to 5d mk IV and I would like to start shooting videos, especially about basketball at the playground and I'm looking for 4k 120p capability. R5 would be perfect for photography but has a very evident rolling shutter effect in quick subjects scenes that would affect videos. The new one looks a little less prone thou not perfect at all but it's too expensive. That's why I'm considering the R6 III that could present less rolling shutter thou it will have a less resolution sensor for sure - 24 Mpixel probably -. I'm very doubtful as I consider 45 Mpixel a right resolution and 24 a little poor for good quality storing and printing in the future
I got the R5 because of the 45 Mpixel sensor which is amazing. I have cropped images by a lot and then done prints at 24x36 inches and they look amazing. And yes, whenever I talk about 20x30, I am talking in inches when printing. I should have made that more clear so that's my bad haha. Overall though, I do think the R5 is worth it if you need the bigger sensor for printing and the 4k 120 which looks amazing in video as well. Let me know if you have any more questions.
Thanks for watching! Let me know down below if you still think the Canon R5 is one of the best cameras on the market.

Ya, the R5 autofocus is unreal. Canon is coming out with a new camera soon that is supposed to have better autofocus so it should be interesting.

For sports photography is the r5 better than the r7, like which one would you prefer ,

Okay how do manage the huge files sizes everybody talking about

Canon’s color science on the Canon R5 is superb! Makes it hard for me to decide Sony a7R5 or this Canon R5😅.

Jezzzz used and abused but it still held thru 😂
