We tasted afternoon tea in hotel L’Oscars a week ago, it was fabulous and super tasty.

I invited my brother and sister in law back in 2017 to tea at Kensington Palace at the Orangery.
The tray we had was much better looking than yours and the price was a lot less. Times have changed. Service was much attentive.

Welcome to Wanderland! Yes, I understand The Orangery has gone through a multi year refurbishment- It just reopened in early May- unfortunately they did not bring back the beautiful china. I was disappointed that they changed the format of the restaurant. Before renovations there were cafe style tables with white table cloths and a huge display of the tea cakes and sweets on a table. I felt like it was a proper tea room. I don't care for the new restaurant vibe. The building is still spectacular though.
Welcome to Wanderland! I agree with you about the change in aesthetics- I loved the old tea china patterns they used so much, I researched before I went on this tea and was expecting something else. The venue itself is gorgeous, especially on a beautiful sunny day. I was surprised though how nice the food turned out to be. Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to reply. What a pity - you could get a tea like that at cafe rouge for under £15. That looked very average and the scone looked position horrendous, not to mention that green tart! Serving the tea so late is inexcusable. I hope you find better value next time. It's very sad that what was such a lovely venue has gone so downmarket. London has so much better to offer I promise.

I am sorry you had such a poor experience. I know you are reviewing. However, you should have complained. Pre served sandwiches. Then a cold scone already creamed and jammed, for £55! Absolutely disgraceful. No wonder you got in without a reservation. Poor value for money. Try the Wolseley next. Now that is a fantastic place for afternoon tea. Scrumptious. You need to book there to be sure of a place. Xx ps. You are too nice!!!
Welcome to Wanderland! Honestly it really wasn’t that bad- believe me, I’ve definitely had worse. I do have The Wolsey on my list, I’ve heard lovely things about it. You’ll need to join me down the rabbit hole on Friday for afternoon tea at Cliveden- it’s quite special 💕✨🐰🇬🇧🫖
