  • In a hard-fought season finally for what seemed to be an emotionally difficult year for Penn State, the Nittany Lions dug deep to pull out a win against what should have been a rather overmatched opponent. It was again another defensive-dominated game for both teams, yet as the game wore on Penn State's offense did begin to find some traction. But that success didn't come until after a wild first half that saw the Nittany Lions turn the ball over on four fumbles lost. Three of which happened in the first quarter alone. That kept MSU in the ball game early, and although the Spartans were playing their back-up quarterback, it was enough to keep the pressure on Penn State until late in the game.
    Penn State's Top Performers:
    Anthony Morelli: 17 of 37, 220 yards, 2 TDs
    Tony Hunt: 29 carries, 130 yards, TD .. 2 catches, 19 yards
Andrew Quarless: 4 catches, 87 yards, TD
Paul Posluszny: 8 tackles, 2 PDs
The Nittany Lions rounded out the 2006 regular season with an 8-4 mark with the win over Michigan State. Meanwhile, the Spartans ended at 4-8, and were next to last place in the Big Ten standings.
