for anyone using this tutorial in 2024 you will need to install the ModOrganizer-to-OpenMW 4.1.0 as the old one doesn't work on newer versions of Mod Organiser 2

Modding OpenMW seems to require a bit more attention to detail than old Morrowind, though the results seems to be worth it as long as you've got the patience.
Somenof this process is outdated. The best I've been able to tell people is that this process changes overtime. My best advice is to look through the site and follow their instructions.
I'm not sure, sounds like something is wrong with windows. I'd suggest googling the problem "windows terminal only opens in admin mode" and see if you can find a fix.
It's probably because this process may have already changed. They tend to update the way things are done on the website. Only advice I can give you is to look at the site and read through the install process yourself.

So on my laptop has like a 15-20 second delay when pasting the command to it running, and that's assuming the pathing is fine. It wasn't till I copied the pathing in the vid that it worked (offscreen 1st time, but every time I add a mod I rerun the merge and it does the purple line thing after that 15-20 sec wait (probably not recommended but it's not broken yet).
This is a great video man but a lot of these mods seem a little outdated now and the instructions for the files don't make much sense to me. Have you thought of doing an updated video?
How do you work through errors when configuring the mod to install. Few of the mods from i heart vanilla have errors in the order of the files when installing on mod organizer, and i dont know how to edit them to make them correct.
Double check the version of the program you are using. If they aren't the same as what I was using then there might be issues with the process I outlined in the video. If that's the case the only thing I can suggest is follow the instructions written out on the website.

@sphron8369 You're Welcome! I'm actually not sure why the delta plug in is giving people issues. Only thing I can think of is that it's been updated or the install process has changed.
The mod is great, but having to hold both nexus mod organizer and openmw is an annoyance. I have the base game, and want to play the mod without the nexus praise but nope, what counts as a mod is a mod.
So man I know this is an old video now but was super helpful. I'm just a little frustrated as I did everything correctly but when it comes to installing the Delta Plugin I put in the pathway correctly and Windows tells me the place it's pointing to isn't recognised as an exe. I've triple checked the pathway and even renamed the file as an exe to be sure but it still will not work correctly and no guides on OpenMW seem to fix the issue. If there's something I'm missing I'd love if someone could let me know!
You aren't the first to have this issue. I'll try and look into it but I'm super swamped with other work at the moment, completely unrelated to UA-cam. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. If I find an answer I'll let you know.

Anyone have any idea where I went wrong linking MO2 to openMW? I downloaded mo2, python, and the mo to openmw plugin, extracted the files to the mo2 plugin folder, but every time I launch it says it failed to initialize openmwexport plugin, and that there is no module named "pyqt5".

@overdrive112 hmmmm I'm not sure why it's not working. I had someone a few weeks ago have the same issue. See if your version is the same version I used, if it is then you may have to add them manually.

I have absolutely no idea why, but when I copy and paste the two files in the MO2 plugins folder it isn't working - 7:41 in the video - I'm doing exactly as you show, but the "Export to OpenMW" option is not appearing. Other places I've found just say to make sure to paste into the plugin folder (which I did) but for some reason it is not showing up...
The only thing I can think of is that the plug-in isn't working with MO2 due to a possible update. If you are using a newer version of MO2 or the plugin that is more than likely the issue. If not then I'm unsure of why it is not working.
@LinkinForcer I have Mod organizer v2.4.4, Mod organizer to openmw 3.0.0, and openmw 0.47.0. I saw another guide that mentioned needing to install python, Would that have anything to do with it?
Make sure it installed correctly. Try searching your PC for the folder. It might be in a different location. If you can't find it install modorginizer again. If you still can't find it then I wouldn't know what else to tell you for a fix.
All went so very well until I followed the path you specify to paste the Delta Plugin files into Mod Organizer, which simply wasn't there in the Local folder. Might it be somewhere else?
You have to create the file path. So you'll go to your c drive. Create a folder called games and then double click in side of it and create the next folder as I specify in the video and double click into that folder and follow the same steps until all folders are created and inside one another
@@themantrevor As long as you follow the guide I provide it should work. If for some reason it does not I'd highly suggest reading through the instructions for the plug-in on the website I provided. That is why I stressed reading through the site because these install processes can change over time.
@@LinkinForcer Yeah I ended up running it like you and the guide says. I have a large mod list and the command prompt spits out tons of line that look that it isn't finding the right files but it always generates the omwaddon file. I ended up keeping it and using it for MO2. I guess you have to trust it's working because I could run my modlist without it. Thanks for the response and your guide. Very helpful.
Hi I followed the steps and when I opened the launcher, it said "Error reading settings.cfg Error on line 65 in C:\Users\Edd\Documents\My Games\OpenMW//setting.cfg: duplicate setting: [GUI] subtitles". What should I do?
For some reason when I click to download and wait the 5 seconds it never sends the download to modoragizer.. or downloads it at all for that matter. I have python downloaded
It sounds like it's not connecting to nexus mods. Make sure you don't have pop-ups blocked. Make sure you go through the process of connecting your nexus mods account and see if that works.
@LinkinForcer I double checked my pop ups. I disconnected and reconnected from nexus. Uninstalled and reinstalled. I'm thinking it might have to do with the plugins? But it says that is working fine too. Idk I'm lost at this point. I was able to do this a year back on my other computer not sure what's up with the new and improved one.
@kor6624 I'm not 100% sure, I run Windows 11 now but was on Windows 10 at the time of filling this video. I know I've run into some issues as well, but not as you described. I was able to get things working on my current PC with the same steps in this guide.

I thought I followed all of this word for word, but the mods I installed don't show up in OpenMW. The only difference, I think, is that I went with the portable version of Mod Organizer. Is this an issue?
Find another guide that actually explains, thats what i did. this guys guide isnt good imo. glosses over things and doesnt explain well. i found following this just set me back and confused me. i read in comments that some people go viruses following this too . Id recommend finding a written guide.
@isaacdishongh2432 Nothing in my guide contains viruses unless the sites that hold these programs were compromised after I published this guide. You can also get false positives from some of these programs. The reason this guide is the way that it is created is simply because these mod guides are updated on a regular basis. It's not done intentionally to misguided or mislead anyone.
@@LinkinForcer That makes sense. seems like modding this game is harder then others bethesda games. nothing against you, almost every guide ive seen on the subject confuses me. i dont think i would recommend any one guide that ive seen
@isaacdishongh2432 You are correct. It's one reason I haven't done a video on Modding Oblivion. That's why I push the point in the video to read everything in the mods description. Follow the mod order. Etc. Just because it can become a very in-depth nodding process that could potentially take days depending on how many mods you want. I didn't take anything personal. It's all good.
I'd disable all mods and see if the game would launch. If so then enable each mod one by one to see if you can find the conflict resulting in that error. It is probably a mod that doesn't play well with other mods or isn't compatible.
I got a virus (Trojan horse) when i installed DeltaPlugin and tried to extract it by WinRar, but luckly my Windows was able to remove it. What do you recommend i should do?

I haven't noticed any impact on my PC actually, but when i tried to extract the WinRar folder a Windows notification instantly popped up and i just went and let it do his thing, it all happened very quickly. I'm not familiar with false positive virus notifications so i can't be completely sure about that... Edit: i downloaded the latest version of DeltaPlugin instead of the one you showed on the video, so it wasn't that you particularly showed a folder with a virus. I just downloaded and extracted the 1.15.0 version that you showed in the video and it went just fine, thanks. Maybe i should leave this comment here so if anyone has the same experience it might be a little help.
If I remember correctly the Delta plug-in is needed. But it could have changed. It should say on the website. I believe all the mod lists state its necessary.
I accidentally clicked the Name column and it auto-sorted my damn plugins, and won't let me manually move them. Gonna lose my mind. Maybe Netflix was the better entertainment option. Edit: I tried running something called "LOOT" and no idea what that did.
When i try to download any mod with "Mod Manager Download" option it does not show up that pop-up that says" if you want to allow this site to open nxmlink".. Do you know what could be the issue? Thanks!
If you have any pop-up blockers active it can prevent that pop-up from showing. I remember having trouble myself when I did this the first time a while back but I can't remember exactly what I did to fix it. I believe my issue was using adblock or another pop-up blocker.

Hey, I watched you video and untill now all worked just fine. The only thing that I would like to know is how to convert omwaddon files into esp files ? From what I understand they should be the same but my MO2 does not recognize the tracklessgrazelands.omwaddon file and thus my delta-merged plugin does not work. Pls help hahaha xD And thanks for the video it was very helpfull so far :D
I did the delta plugin part as explained, but whenever i try to launch the game it says: "(path)\DeltaPlugin\delta-merged.esp asks for parent file delta-merged.esp, but it has not been loaded yet. Please check your load order." Still, it's already in the bottom position to load last and i exported to OpenMW as well
Hmmm....I'm not sure what the issue could be. I haven't been on the website in a while. Double check it and make sure that my instructions are still valid. The website does update with new instructions from what I'm aware of.

Will Delta Plugin not work unless your load order perfectly replicates whatever is on that website? When I try to run it, it fails to find any of my files. my delta-merged file is 1kb compared to your file which was 6kb. and in MO2 the plugin has a line through the text. not sure what the issue is

If you mean Python it's a program that interacts with certain files. But it's not necessarily neednforbthis process.

No, simply because these mods and instructions change all the time. The general basis for the installation of mods should still work though.

everything goes fine up until the powershell/WinTerminal step where the code doesn't go right
You can try it without and see what happens. If things do not work right then you do need the plug in.

I installed OpenMW, but the program displays 'Fatal Error' after pressing 'Play'
It sounds like something didn't install correctly. Maybe try reinstalling it. I'm not sure why it is giving you that error.

Things should still be fine.
That site updates quite a bit so if something isn't working just make sure nothing has changed in the install process.

Make sure it installed correctly. Try searching your PC for the folder. It might be in a different location.
If you can't find it install modorginizer again. If you still can't find it then I wouldn't know what else to tell you for a fix.

All went so very well until I followed the path you specify to paste the Delta Plugin files into Mod Organizer, which simply wasn't there in the Local folder. Might it be somewhere else?
You have to create the file path. So you'll go to your c drive. Create a folder called games and then double click in side of it and create the next folder as I specify in the video and double click into that folder and follow the same steps until all folders are created and inside one another
@@LinkinForcer So how does it know where the OpenMW & MO 2 mods are that need to be merged? The Config file isnt along that file path.
@@themantrevor As long as you follow the guide I provide it should work. If for some reason it does not I'd highly suggest reading through the instructions for the plug-in on the website I provided. That is why I stressed reading through the site because these install processes can change over time.
@@LinkinForcer Yeah I ended up running it like you and the guide says. I have a large mod list and the command prompt spits out tons of line that look that it isn't finding the right files but it always generates the omwaddon file. I ended up keeping it and using it for MO2. I guess you have to trust it's working because I could run my modlist without it.

Do you have to do the delta plugin if you're doing manual downloads for everything?
If you are using OpenMW you have to use the Delta Plug in. Otherwise the mods may not work from what I understand.

@Nile Cleo I'm unsure of that process. If you are installing the mods manually without MO2 then you probably don't need the Delta Plugin

I'm not sure....I only follow the directions that come from the modding website.
I must be losing my mind, I see no option to unzip the file. All I see is the 7Z file when I download.

Hi I followed the steps and when I opened the launcher, it said "Error reading settings.cfg Error on line 65 in C:\Users\Edd\Documents\My Games\OpenMW//setting.cfg: duplicate setting: [GUI] subtitles". What should I do?
From what I've read the fix is delete the settings.cfg file. The launch the program again so it generates a new one.

For some reason when I click to download and wait the 5 seconds it never sends the download to modoragizer.. or downloads it at all for that matter. I have python downloaded
It sounds like it's not connecting to nexus mods. Make sure you don't have pop-ups blocked. Make sure you go through the process of connecting your nexus mods account and see if that works.
@LinkinForcer I double checked my pop ups. I disconnected and reconnected from nexus. Uninstalled and reinstalled. I'm thinking it might have to do with the plugins? But it says that is working fine too. Idk I'm lost at this point. I was able to do this a year back on my other computer not sure what's up with the new and improved one.
@kor6624 I'm not 100% sure, I run Windows 11 now but was on Windows 10 at the time of filling this video. I know I've run into some issues as well, but not as you described. I was able to get things working on my current PC with the same steps in this guide.

Nevermind, i deleted some old modding data files, ran the whole shit again through mod organiser and atleast the water is changed. Grass too.

I thought I followed all of this word for word, but the mods I installed don't show up in OpenMW. The only difference, I think, is that I went with the portable version of Mod Organizer. Is this an issue?
I wouldn't think so but it could be. I've never used the portable version.
Find another guide that actually explains, thats what i did. this guys guide isnt good imo. glosses over things and doesnt explain well. i found following this just set me back and confused me. i read in comments that some people go viruses following this too . Id recommend finding a written guide.
@isaacdishongh2432 Nothing in my guide contains viruses unless the sites that hold these programs were compromised after I published this guide.
You can also get false positives from some of these programs.
The reason this guide is the way that it is created is simply because these mod guides are updated on a regular basis. It's not done intentionally to misguided or mislead anyone.
@@LinkinForcer That makes sense. seems like modding this game is harder then others bethesda games. nothing against you, almost every guide ive seen on the subject confuses me. i dont think i would recommend any one guide that ive seen
@isaacdishongh2432 You are correct. It's one reason I haven't done a video on Modding Oblivion. That's why I push the point in the video to read everything in the mods description. Follow the mod order. Etc. Just because it can become a very in-depth nodding process that could potentially take days depending on how many mods you want.

I'd disable all mods and see if the game would launch. If so then enable each mod one by one to see if you can find the conflict resulting in that error. It is probably a mod that doesn't play well with other mods or isn't compatible.

I got a virus (Trojan horse) when i installed DeltaPlugin and tried to extract it by WinRar, but luckly my Windows was able to remove it. What do you recommend i should do?
Not sure as it shouldn't have anything like that packaged with anything I showcased.

I haven't noticed any impact on my PC actually, but when i tried to extract the WinRar folder a Windows notification instantly popped up and i just went and let it do his thing, it all happened very quickly. I'm not familiar with false positive virus notifications so i can't be completely sure about that...
Edit: i downloaded the latest version of DeltaPlugin instead of the one you showed on the video, so it wasn't that you particularly showed a folder with a virus.
I just downloaded and extracted the 1.15.0 version that you showed in the video and it went just fine, thanks.

If I remember correctly the Delta plug-in is needed. But it could have changed. It should say on the website. I believe all the mod lists state its necessary.

I'm sorry. I'm not sure why you don't have the settings file. The only way around that is to create one yourself.
I accidentally clicked the Name column and it auto-sorted my damn plugins, and won't let me manually move them. Gonna lose my mind. Maybe Netflix was the better entertainment option.
Edit: I tried running something called "LOOT" and no idea what that did.

When i try to download any mod with "Mod Manager Download" option it does not show up that pop-up that says" if you want to allow this site to open nxmlink".. Do you know what could be the issue? Thanks!
If you have any pop-up blockers active it can prevent that pop-up from showing. I remember having trouble myself when I did this the first time a while back but I can't remember exactly what I did to fix it. I believe my issue was using adblock or another pop-up blocker.

The only thing that I would like to know is how to convert omwaddon files into esp files ?
From what I understand they should be the same but my MO2 does not recognize the tracklessgrazelands.omwaddon file and thus my delta-merged plugin does not work.

That is completely your decision, you don't need mods to play the game.
I did the delta plugin part as explained, but whenever i try to launch the game it says: "(path)\DeltaPlugin\delta-merged.esp asks for parent file delta-merged.esp, but it has not been loaded yet. Please check your load order."
Still, it's already in the bottom position to load last and i exported to OpenMW as well
Hmmm....I'm not sure what the issue could be. I haven't been on the website in a while. Double check it and make sure that my instructions are still valid. The website does update with new instructions from what I'm aware of.

Will Delta Plugin not work unless your load order perfectly replicates whatever is on that website? When I try to run it, it fails to find any of my files. The errors look like this (and it's not just this one esp, but all of them):

I'm not sure why that would be happening. The only time I've used the Delta Plug-In is specifically with this modding process.
