this is late but i hope it can help somebody, i’m doing this job myself and i found it easier to remove the upper motor mounts, use a tall jack and support it by the transaxle oil pan and just remove the left lower motor mount and it gives you plenty of room to slide the pan out. the only downside is the bolts for the mounting bracket are a tight reach so you have to use wrenchs, Good luck to all, best advice is don’t overthink it.
Yap Yap Yap anything but removing the oil pan. My Alldata Factory Service Manual subscription shows a far different method. No need to remove control arms and ball joints forcing an alignment to be done too. This is better done with an engine support bar over the engine on the fenders. Put that on, remove the catalytic converter bolts from right exhaust header, undo the right and left engine mounts, unbolt the center engine mount. hoist the engine up just enough to remove the left engine mount bracket, drain oi, remove oil sensor, drop the pan. I only went looking to see some tips but this is not a good way to do it and the never ending yapping was horrible.
That is the method I used on the first one that I did, I’ve done them this way every since. As far as an alignment simply popping the ball joint won’t necessitate an alignment, I center the cradle before tightening it back up and haven’t had any alignment issues. As far as my banter while working some people like it and some don’t…all I can say is I’ll bet you’re real fun at parties.
Removing the sun frame is a lot of extra work. Not to mention needing an alignment after. You can get to all five of the mount bracket. It’s a B. But yeah.
