Cam, I met you at NAB 2024, and I can say unequivocally you are not a shill and one of the most genuine people I have met from UA-cam. I am in Washington, D.C., covering several stories and using the DJI Focus Pro for the first time in the field, and it is amazing. Thank you again for everything you do for content creators and the community. Your time and efforts are appreciated.
Don't let those haters get to you Cam. You are doing great work and sponsorships are basically required nowadays to get paid from UA-cam. Good to see how well this system works. Cant wait to pair this with my manual lenses when I can afford it.
One of the main reasons I subscribed to your channel is that you don't just share your opinions about gear, lenses, etc., you support it with actual footage and real world demonstrations using the gear you're covering. The haters just look like fools. It's like the fools are ignoring the science - which you demonstrate - and look for confirmation bias to support their crying foul. Keep up the great work. You're helping SO many people and inspiring them through your channel. Cheers.
Best video I've seen that really breaks down this system in a real world scenario. Really helpful for someone like me who's on the fence but so intrigued by the tech.
First 45 seconds are pure visual poetry and the rest of the video is yet another masterclass in solo shooting, done while you're on the road. I don't know how manage this intense workload, just grateful you lead the way. In a few years, this is how most people will need to work. And, images out of the S5IIX has never looked this good.
@art_means_artificial Glad you asked. It's mostly about the rhythm and the contrast. The rhythm of visual beats within the framing of the shot, as well as the rhythm between shots. The main rhythm is that of the actions taken by the performer. Those actions of a much larger narrative, taking place mainly in the negative space and, as a consequence, in the mind of the audience . The contrast is used in the tonality, but also between colors and between the performer, the actions and the surrounding space of the frame. When a few seconds manage to suggest a wider canvas, a bigger story - mainly beyond the spoken - then it's visual poetry. It's actually really hard to achieve. Cameron Mackey is a master of that kind of visual narrative.
I love your work. You are amazing. I’m so grateful that you take the time to make these videos on UA-cam. Don’t let anything discourage you. Keep up the great work you’re doing, brother. Thank you for being an inspiration to those of us who want to learn.
Very helpful. I bought the DJI Lidar setup recently and really haven't had a chance to use it yet. Your advice from this video will be helpful to me when I finally do.
Super inspiring and super appreciate you taking the time to put this video together! Your anamorphic vids are really pushing me (a mostly stills shooter) to take the leap and buy some new video gear, so thanks!
Having extensively used DJI’s prior LiDAR system, I ended up using various parts to run the LiDAR on the front of the Smallrig Ronin baseplate, where the distance from the camera’s focal plane never changes and is underneath my matte box, solving the issue of the top flag (or Tilta Ronin Ring) obscuring the view of the LiDAR unit. I would LOVE to see Kondor Blue make something similar that would also work well on studio builds. My requirements would be as follows: Mounting distance never changes between lenses, be able to run it under the lens and matte box, and perhaps an ability to tilt up for closer shots where the subject is “out of frame” of the LiDAR unit. Nitze has something that’s ALMOST useable, but the replacement mount for the LiDAR that goes to a rail that’s positioned 90 degrees horizontally from typical 15mm LWS rods isn’t ideal for any of my setups. Also, don’t mind the few naysayers in the comments - I hold you in high regard, as your visual taste is VERY similar to my own and, like myself, are an actual working DP. Literally my favorite film-related content on UA-cam. Love from New Mexico!
Hey buddy, that's some really cool content! Especially for those of us who shoot with film gear like the bmpcc and film lenses, and also for having the courage to make content without anyone sponsoring you. Congratulations!!
Cam, omg I was just thinking about punching the DJI Lidar for my NISI Athena lens I’m getting. Your videos are so helpful and positive, much appreciated from Texas.
damn, my guy you should be so proud of this work. not only is the job you did incredibly well shot but the way you made the time to take us into this world and show us all how you made this is a huge feat in its own. Thanks for always taking the time to bring us along with your signature style. Kudos
Thanks for this video. I've been curious about the DJI Focus Pro Creator Combo, as the original LiDAR system with my Ronin RS2 was so disappointing. The features and performance of this new system looks greatly improved and one I could trust. I appreciate the detail you fit into this to-the-point video.
So cool to see that familiar Big Horn backdrop with Ian and Stephen. Run n' gun with an anamorphic and AF is remarkable. Beautiful footage man, keep it up.
If those haters were paying attention they would notice the following but I think they're too drowned in their hatred: I started watching this channel for quite some time and it was a very, very pleasant discovery and I keep coming back because every single video you make you show us great things and teach us something. You're one of the rarest who show us gear not to sell us that gear like a salesman but to show us HOW SHIT GETS DONE, AND WELL DONE! For those haters, how many very good creatives do you know, who use gear they get sent to create beautiful content with a unique aesthetic and point of view? Mackey, Casey (gxAce), Patrick Tomasso... They are so few...
🥲🤘🏽 thank you bro bro. I think some people are just bored and lonely and are trying to figure out how to channel their energy and it ends up coming out as negativity because they don’t know any better. I have empathy for them.
Thanks for the video. My nearest goal is to be working with that gear you used. The shots look outstanding. Can't wait to watch the documentary you're working on. Keep up the hard work and the great attitude. You're going places !!
Yeah Cam!!! Let the haters hate!!! And if they want smoke in real life( guarantee they don’t), you ain’t duckin no fades!!! That’s why you one of my favorite UA-camrs. Real as they come. Salute broski. We ridin witchu!!! 🫡🔥🫡🔥🫡🔥
I’m receiving my creative combo today 👍 Been a long wait. Battery life and the placement of the Lidar is my main worries right now. Probably gonna order another grip so I don’t have to worry about battery life.
Dang man, all your videos on this LiDar system have really got me wanting to pick this up. Been loving all the recent youtube vids brother. Keep crushing it. How you liking that Lumix?
I have followed you for a little bit now and am really glad I have. I especially enioyed the realest part of this video, "willing to throw hands" MY BROTHA! Great work homie. Really inspired by your work. Keep pushing
haha...I was wondering how you fit a video review into your work schedule! Awesome! As a Colorado boy living in South Africa, all I can say I really miss the western life, and if I was still in the USA I would be filming indigenous rodeo riders, that's something I always wanted to make a film about. I'm really loving the content, and the gear reviews are really well done. Never a dull moment. I'm going to grab the GFX Fuji and head to Iceland in part thanks to your video for showing the video capabilities...so keep the content coming, it's inspiring! Keep it wild Bro! Much love...
I've only just discovered you but I love your channel and the style in which you are creating these videos. And the last video I watched of yours, I ordered the gear you were showing immediately without having ever heard of it (the car mount jib thing for the Osmo Pocket 3).
Psyched to see you use the Lumix s5iix! I was going to switch to Sony from Canon based on your Canon to Sony transition but my heart was drawn to Lumix so I picked up the Lumix s5iix a month ago. It's the perfect camera for me. Seeing you use it for a paid gig solidifies my decision even more!
Love your content. F the haters. What you said is true. They have something going on and for whatever reason choose to take out online, and unfortunately on people like you. Keep doing what you're doing - I know I want to see more of it for sure!
F the haters my man. @@rickskellig4652 It's absolutely crazy. Did they only create 20 and then decide to just go for it, hoping they'd sell those 20? Hm, an affordable system 100.000's filmmakers would kill for.... let's have none in stock. That'll go fine.
Good timing on this Cam - mine just arrived and while it's working surprisingly well on my VV-Raptor need to figure out a few things before it goes on a real job.
This is Fire Cam! Thank you so much for the detailed review and showing me how it works. I really appreciate it and it's super helpful for when I'm ready to purchase one!
Thanks for the great insight..with this setup..and the "real world" scenario use of it..appreciate it..new to all this stuff and am very interested in this Focus Pro set up..was looking into getting this or an actual "gimbal"..but I really like the handheld setup..thanks
Good to see LiDAR auto tracking your face in that low-light hotel. That's the first low-light LiDAR ActiveTrack I've seen. In theory, LiDAR-enabled ActiveTrack Pro on a compatible gimbal could accurately find and track a person in low light or moving from very dark to light. Have you done any night work with LiDAR ActiveTrack?
Great Video and because of you I ordered the Remus 45mm and 65mm, I’m already enjoying the Focus Pro combo which is awesome and now I can’t put my camera down 🤗 and regarding the LiDAR mounts I’m using the Nitze LiDAR Mounting Kit... which allows me to still use a top hand and monitor.
I got my creator combo (with 3 motors 10 days ago). It's such a neat kit, that DJI have put together. I already have the Lidar RS and was using that on the RS3 Pro. You are aware, that the direct Lumix integration also works, right ? As in, you can hook the handle up to your S5-II X, put the camera in manual and let the Lidar module take over the AF of the internal motors in Lumix AF lenses. No external focus motor needed. This can be super handy for low light shots, where phase detect AF just can't cope. LiDAR is superior in that situation.
Wonder if it would be possible to have a compact USB-C cable plugged into the grip running off a V-mount (or similar) battery and get longer run time off a single grip? Maybe a 90degree USB-C on the grip end so it doesn't stick out super far?
Great job. So beautiful !! Bravo My question : I tryed so many way to fix the Lidar… but nothing yet with satisfaction … your Ulanzi Strap could be the one for me !!! But need to get more info about the other pieces you use on it to get the job . Possible please to focus on all you used with the strap . Can’t wait to get my focus pro… in Europe … It should be come at the end of May…. Bravo again for your nice work . Love this area so much also …
Love your channel and learning so much from your vids. Fuck the haters. Don’t let’em get to you. Keyboard courage is the only reason they’re typing that garbage. Love that you said you’d throw hands! None of them would ever say any of that garbage to a persons face. Thanks for your work!
Thank you for the video, Cam!! Man I want to ask you is loud noise from motors normal or did I mess it up with the calibration, I put my lidar system in the shoe mount of my fx3 camera no in the Lens. Thank you again! Love your videos man! super helpful!!!!
Hey Cam, great video as usual. I'm dying to get mine delivered. Randomly went to kondor blue's office the other day and saw you on the other end of a conference call. Now I know why!
Hey Cam I know you are busy but I would love to see a video about the DJI lidar used for a photoshoot with a manual focus lens and how the experience is. I know its geared more towards filmmaking but it's got my gears turning about using it to have autofocus for my vintage lenses for photography.
still waiting on my 45 Remus PL Blue F(backorder) soon to test... but as soon as I can justify it for a job I think I may grab this. My crappy Accsoon FF would just suddenly stop giving me the full lens MID TAKES on a shoot running over big time....it was facepalm bad... I was thinking of getting a Nucleus but this could be a better move... I still have my old Tilta with whip etc...PS I think your RAD I dont care what anyone says dude...your excitement is inspiring.
Excellent video and amazing shots as usual! I’m less than 12k subs and I can’t believe the things people feel they are entitled to say about me on my own channel. Cordial disagreement are one thing but trolling is another. Looks like you’re getting a 100k subs for Christmas. Well deserved.
Ignore the Ignorant. I have to deal with them, often, while shooting my current documentary. I got this product today and will be breaking it in on Thursday. 8-) Keep doing what you are doing.
Question: when you setup the lens profiles, does the lidar use the focal length in any calculations? I ask because I have the Sirui Night Walker lenses that are all the same focus throw and gear locations. Can I just set that up in a single lens profile and it will act the same?
Great video Cam! I've got the DJI LiDAR system as well and don't know how I ever lived without it! (Especially as a solo shooter) I was curious though was all of the filming in the hotel room done with the Remus lenses? I'm asking because I'm super impressed with the "sharpness" of the footage and I was under the impression that the Remus lenses were a bit tough to dial in that softness. The oval bokeh looked so great too so I wasn't sure if you threw the Atlas' on for that segment. Thanks again for all that you do!
WOW I need this I just buy the monster of older but cool Blackmagic Cinema Camera 2.5k MFT and I need to transform into auto focus my camera, don't have any contacts to operate MFT OIS, IRIS or FOCUS, so I need only manual lens and this I see don't need a compatible gimbal only manual lens and put all the combo into my BMCC 2.5K this is right? thanks!
Hey Cam, will this system work if you have a zoom lens like let's say the Cattas or the Rangers? Or will you have to stick with one focal length while using those? I was hoping they'd let you add an extra motor for the zoom ring
i have look at you for a long time an have not subscribed, but when you said lets throw hands, you got me, to hell with them bro love your work, and go get that money. Kenyatta.

I was thinking of getting a Nucleus but this could be a better move... I still have my old Tilta with whip etc...PS I think your RAD I dont care what anyone says dude...your excitement is inspiring.
Hey Cam, could please give us the file for the 3D printed part for the Laser? Thank you 🫶🙏 And as always, excellent work. 🎉
Love your channel man. Thank you so much for all the info you put out there for us to view.
You’re the f*cking man Cam; block out the scumbags and keep doing what makes you happy.
Great stuff cam keep it up buddy... can the s5iix be used for pod casts and also run and gun stuff
Did you say > > > go eat? 😁
btw that lidar stuff is niiiice ✌
That's what I'm saying... throw those hands brother...
Keep doing what you are doing.
Hi Cam! I love your videos. Have you ever used it with a Leica SL? Thanks!
Question: when you setup the lens profiles, does the lidar use the focal length in any calculations? I ask because I have the Sirui Night Walker lenses that are all the same focus throw and gear locations. Can I just set that up in a single lens profile and it will act the same?
Yup epic video brother, made me order one keep Killin it 💪🏽 👌🏽
Great work once again.
Hey Cam what did you use for the strap and mount for the lidar camera? Love your videos.
Loving the angle grider mod, haha
Great content!
Oooo man I want one of these.
Man I love watching your vids.
Do you still have and use the Komodo x? Haven’t seen much of it in a while.
yeah, gear. it's great
Great video Cam!
Great how open you are with the smallest details. Refreshing to not hear the same old talking points.
Kenyatta.
Hahaha you get me.
@@cammackey 💯Keep the amazing work my brother, me and all your Subscribers will be out here throwing hands with your, The hat can get hit, ( We having fun ) lol thank you bro for the good work.

Awesome stuff man thanks! Love your work!
Do you offer any lut packs compatible with Braw or any of the blackmagic systems?
