Great review, thank you. Can you help me with a couple of questions please 1) Is it possible to pan sound coming in via Bluetooth and assign where these go separately? For example, I want to use the Bluetooth to stream backing tracks with click tracks. These are recorded with the click track panned hard right and the backing track panned hard left. I'd would like to use the headphone out for IEM's so I would need to have the Bluetooth right channel go only to headphones, and the left channel to mix with all the other inputs, and go to main outs, so front of house only gets the mix, and not the click. Hope that makes sense!
Yes there is phantom power available. Preamp is quite good with plenty of gain. I tried to record a few presentations with sm57 and sm58 beta and it worked fine.
I just bought the behringer flow8 and would like to know how is it compared to the Boss Gigcaster. Should I return the behringer Flow8? I haven't even open the behringer yet.
Really depends on your needs, Flow 8 has a lot more inputs than the Gigcaster 5, and is compact, well constructed and easy to use with the included app on your phone, It's also half the price of Gigcaster 5. But if you need extensive guitar amp simulation/effects and sining/vocal effects then Gigcaster 5/8 is a worthy upgrade.
@lireviews I literally received the behringer on June 1st, and put the box on my kitchen counter went on the couch, open UA-cam and saw the Gigcaster.....I'm a musician and that exactly what I was looking for for livestreaming. I didn't even open the behringer and returned it the next day. Now I'm waiting for my gigcaster 8 to come.
@45zapatero I returned the flow 8 and after more research I dumped the gigcaster as well. I got the Mackie DLZ Creator. I did not regret. The screen alone, kills everything in the game.
@@Bigricky06 From the review of the DLZ, it does look like a very premium product with killer screen... Of course, at a premium price and seems to be well-equipped to be a dedicated streaming/podcasting mixing board. Do keep in mind Gigcaster, again, is designed mainly for guitarists with premium integrated guitar and vocal effects that works like a guitar effects processor with podcasting and streaming options :)
Have you Record and Mixed a Song in Cubase or similar, if yes how works the ASIO Driver in a DAW, how many Tracks you can Mix? Have you experience with the GT-001 it’s the table top of the GT100, I got this and I can work in my DAW with 30 Tracks and a bunch of FX. Is that possible with the Gigcaster 5 too? When you don’t have experience with the GT100, can you tell me you DAW Experience with the Gigcaster 5 please!?
Won't be able to help, no one send me free samples to test, lol I just review my own gear, but I choose Gigcaster simply because of the added benefit of not having to hook a multi-effects processor or any paddles for my electric guitar, Rodecaster Duo lacks any guitar effects processing.
The front "Guitar Jack" is shared with the back "Input 1" as long as you have correct cable to hook your phone to it, yes. But easiest would be to just connect your phone to Bluetooth that way it works in the separate bluetooth channel without any wires.
Subjectively speaking: better! More gain plus vocal and sing FX plus Noise suppression! And it’s got ducking feature too! Downside: a lot less jacks, so if you need more than 1 xlr while playing guitar, look at gigcaster 8
Good review. Can you recommend this model instead of GX-100? While I understand the use case for this is different, I wonder if I can go for this instead of GX-100 since it is cheaper as well. Do you know if this has all the features of GX-100? I guess there is no loop function.
The signal chain is much shorter on Gigcaster 5, and there is no dual amp signal chain. So if sound/tone modification and quick switching between modeling effects and durability on stage is important to you you'll definitely want to stick with GX-100, you can find GX-100 used for about $400-450 range which is the same cost as the Gigcaster 5. If you just need a simple but fully functional signal chain with 3 fx and plenty of amp/effects selection, and do recording or streaming work, then Gigcaster 5 is a lot more useful. There is a used mint Gigcaster 5 for sale on B&H now for only $369 www.bhphotovideo.com/c/used/1759297/boss_gcs_5_gigcaster_5_audio_streaming.html if you are interested, snap it before it's gone.
@@TheGizmoGarage Thank you so much. Just wondering how to do the recording using this. Anything that you recommend without the dependency of a laptop? I am a beginner and want to record just for analyzing and improving my guitar practice sessions. So if there is an easy way it would be good. Gigcaster 8 as you said could be too much for a beginner. @@pvpixelarts Gigcaster 8 comes with a built-in micro SD card slot for recording without any external devices. You can also record to your iPhone/Android directly using the build-in Bluetooth function. Or a direct hookup using USB data cable to an iPhone/Android on Gigcaster 5. It's quite easy.

You can hook another electric acoustic guitar to other inputs preferably input 3 for console, which still give you some effects control (compression/enhance etc). Yes, you'll need a 1/4 to 3.5mm adapter to hook your headphone to the headset/headphone input 1/2
The Gigcaster 5 does not have a function to output audio to a Bluetooth speaker or Bluetooth headphones/headset. The best place to find out is calling their customer service and ask if it's able to send/output through the USB-C to iPhone/Android devices.
