Awe inspiring. And the Milky Way, which starts at 0.55s, is just breathtaking. Who would have even thought we can see it in the night sky when we're actually in it !?! Generally speaking, the whole night sky is part of the Milky Way. But what's interesting and quite mind-bogling is the fact that we can that dense band in the night sky where most the stars in the galaxy reside. And the middle part of that band which is even more dense, directs us to where the center core of the Milky Way Galaxy, where the Black Hole is. We can't see anything but that band in the night sky.
If you can't figure out our view of the galaxy from where we are inside the Milky Way.
Open any door, now situate yourself between the front and back of the door. You can neither see the front or the back of the door, but you see the middle band of the door with the inner lock just about halfway from top or bottom of that band you can see. You can see the band from top to bottom but you can never see front or back of the door. That door would be the Milky Way though it's actually larger than the door with it's swirling arms beginning just about where you are situated looking at the band of the door, so the galaxy goes through you and we're inside it just about where those swirling arms begins and were looking inwards from where we are in the galaxy. That band between the front and back (or both faces) of the Milky Way is our view of the galaxy. The inner lock of the door band would be roughly the direction of the center core, where the black hole would be in the center of the galaxy. The Milky Way Galaxy, our home and place in the universe. Isn't that mind-boggling as it already is. Watch the video again showing the band in time lapse so the band with the dense core in the middle of that band. Relative to Earth, which is the one moving, making it look like the stars are the ones moving around . . .
Thank you so much for matching the magnificence of both Wagner's Tannhauser Pilgrims' Chorus and time-lapse clips of the Milky Way. They go very well together.
